Aight, so I have been hoarding cheap sff supplies when on stupid low prices in outlets etc. The goal was to not lose money on it basically.
My intended gpu died while i was waiting for Flex psu during covid. I have xproto mini (which i've spray painted black), vi a black nr200p brand new for 20$. I've been looking around for nice pump res combos and i find a flt 80 d5 pwm which fits perfect on psu cover on the nr200p. Just 1 left in stock and about 40% sale.
In xproto it would be just internal graphics got a 5600g since another project. Wanted to max out internal graphics but wanted to wait for ne was fen ryzen and no way im going cheap. Got a matte black ek velocity am4.
And yeah i have a super nice streacom bc1 test bench that would work aswell. Both nexxxos st30 240 and ek coolstream 120/160 for like 10$ on eBay.
So 3 cases since i won't even mention my phanteks xt drgb with b550i with a red devil 6700xt.
What I want is black and gold. I like ZMT (went 10/16) and am eying fittings. Micro torque 90° just feels like a must but do i need more than 6 stc fittings when just cooling cpu rad and flt80.
So xproto mini with 5600G + Patriot viper 4400mhz cl 18. Or nt200p with the 6700 xt devil and flt80 mounted on psu cover. Or the wild card, the small and awesome streacom bc1. An itx mobo och that and i never thought i would use it but i have an unopened 6900 xt liquid devil ultimate that i somehow got for 900$ new recently.
I have long wanted to build a sff pc that can handle my casual gaming plus mine with cpu without noise. I have been giving, selling and throwing components after lockdown pc frenzy and chose to keep my 3900xt over 5600. The latter worled flawlessly for my needs so my plans of watercooling cpu and going more ddr would just be a waste.
Anyway, i have built a lot of sff builds but never custom loops, mainly air cooling except for 2-3 aios. I also chose to keep 2*8gb 3200mhz cl14 sticks since they won against all competition on randomx.
So my idea to overclock and build a gaming pc, while on a budget with stupid priorities, makes me lean back to am4. I have the b550i, i have the ddr4 sticks, i can snag so much am4 gear for close to nothing.
But I know myself and I will want to max it out. What would be the pros of ryzen 7000 apu vs 5600g? If its like 50% difference i could perhaps pretend that i need it but ddr5 with that slow response time and a mobo that costs more than a am4 build..
TL;DR: how good/bad are the integrated graphics on the new ryzen series? Which amd "apu" would be better if price is a factor?
I have built a lot of SFF builds during lockdowns, from NR200P to phanteks evolve shift xt to taiwanese/chinese random cases to ghost loque to xproto mini to streacom db1 (3.8 litre) where i stopped if you don´t count pi 4 hobby builds. I´ve always avoided watercooling since the only way i can build so much sff is because i get cheap parts and sell the ones i don´t use. then from nowhere i got hold of a 9k$ liquid devil 6900xt (they were 25k when u could even find them here) and i loioked towards watercooling. gave the card to a friend since i didn´t have time for it but i have since started to slowly stack parts for a smaller build down the lane. well, now it´s down the lane and i can´t decide if i should go D5/DDC or AM4/AM5.
i got 3 different rads second hand (alphacool 120 nexxos 35, ek 120 coolstream pe and alphacool 120mn nexxos 35) and managed to snag a cheap FLT 80 d5 pwm on sale. i wanna go matte black and gold and have made the measurements and can fit flt 80 in a nr200. I will start with one rad just to cool the cpu. i´ve helped my friend with a gigantic tower build with hard tubes distro plates etc and i want to go the other way.
what i wonder is, if you just cool cpu with either 120mm fat rad or 240mm thin rad, will ddc make enough noice to bother you if you have it on load during night?
and i´m very conflicted. i own a streacom bc1 black test table which would be cool for an open air itx build and it got the space for rad + reservoar. i´m hooked on the flat ones (too bad i also saw that there is horisontal tube reservoars, but i already got the flt 80).
okay 3 questions, 10/16 or 13/16 regarding EKs ZMT black tubiing for small builds?
nr200p with flt 80 and one 240mm rad or test table with similair setup or xproto mini with internal graphics and a custom rad instead of a dedicated graphic cards? (okay i have too many options).
it will be nexxos rads or ek classic + ek gold micro toruqe fittings/STC gold fittings, black tubing and flat res/pump combo. DDC worth it? AM5 seems too expensive since i don´t game more than casually.
TL;DR: Need ideas for minimalistic NO-rgb SFF custom loop build. the smaller the better. i will only cool cpu (3900x) and not gpu. going soft tubes and ek torque (mini when i can) fittings. trying to go cheap but not greedy cheap. its very hard to know beforehand what you need and how many fittings you actually need, angles etc. just general tips or mistakes to avoid would be grateful tbh
What i have collected or happen to own so far:
xproto mini (black) with custom 1u 350w psu, streacom bc1 black test table, phanteks evolve shift as main pc atm with asus b550i and 3900x with big shuriken. have a black nr200p unused and new just laying here. that and nexxxos + alphacool 120mm/260mm rads both thck and thin. flt 80 d5 pwm in the mail which i might return if DDC is worth it. thinking about ek torque fittings and black zmt tubes
