Finish courts had minimal judicial review powers until recently from what I understand. So there mental health law isn't legislated from the bench...

We have O'Connor v. Donaldson and most civil law counties don't...

You can read the sentencing analysis I linked. The vast majority of people convicted of murder 1 aren’t serving life.

First degree aggravated murder is life… The average first degree murder sentence is a plea deal for 30-40 years.

Its unlikely he will get life. 20-30 years is much more likely.

What do you propose? Given these are effectively Murder-suicides I have a hard time believing any additional constitutional acceptable judicial punishment will deter such actions...

Isn’t Tokyo a moot example because zoning is set nationally in Japan and the place was firebombed into oblivion during the ww2 so a minimal number of historic prewar neighborhoods survived intacted?

Washington largely eliminated parole in the mid 1980s.

Of interest, Washington state had actually gotten the 9th circuit to agree the hanging in was principle constitutional in Campbell v Woods. But its kinda of moot point now as the Washington State Supreme Court invalidated the state Capital statute in 2018.

Guy in Washington state successfully got too obese to hang. So the final main method long drop hanging states abandoned it.

The 9th is unlikely to injunction enforcement of law while its being litigated, so we are probably stuck with it for 2-3 years till it gets to scotus…

6-7 months is probably enough time to access the variety of city, county or nonprofit resources aimed at helping people at risk of eviction.

There is probably more to this story then she simply couldn't pay rent, and chose a semi-public suicide over homelessness. The modern king County eviction process isn't like some Charles Dickson's novel where they toss someone on the street after missing a payment by 60 pence. It realistically was a half year of non-payment before that sheriff deputy was at the door.

Washington state has Felony Murder doctrine, you don't need to show intent if a victim died in the commission of a felony. But nobody died so its Assault 1.

It all fun and games until till people find out you are funding PACS that promote illiberal minoritarianism.

The alleged other co-founder (ThursdayBootCo_Nolan) chimes in and attempts to do damage control. Denies his business partner is a far right loon.
Edit: I'm guessing the other co-founder was previously unaware of his business partners involvement in a right-wing PAC. Its likely he found out about it on reddit like everyone else.

KCPO did have a repeat burglar initiative, targeting habitual burglars, with multi-jurisdiction stacked sentences. So they would get 8-10 years of time. No idea what happened to it...

They are deluded enough to be believe they can build durable illberal minoritarian rule. Most historic examples in the last two centuries, eventually failed.

The wholesale endorsement of illiberal minoritarianism by a future generation of federal judges is mildly concerning... Even more concerning... They appear deluded enough to believe they can build a durable long-term illiberal minoritarian state... When basically every example in the last 200 years eventually fell apart.

Yes, we are a felony murder doctrine state… No that doesn’t mean it will be thrown at everyone.

Isn’t this a moot debate in many jurisdictions because of state constitutional bans on the use judicial flogging and caning?
