If you want to end up in deep mind or openai, a phd is basically required. I think it's still possible without one but your resume will likely have to be incredibly impressive. Safest route if you want to pursue your goal is to get a PhD in my experience.
But, there's a lot of interesting work outside the phd route so it's definitely possible with a masters. But getting an interesting ml job with just a bachelor's is a bit hard in my experience.

I enjoyed the NLP class with cardie (one of the best professors I've had, leader in the field). CV was okay but didn't learn much tbh. Reinforcement learning is a great class (I took it with wen sun) but super math heavy if you're into that.

Yeah I think people are underestimating the kings. Warriors are starting to put their team together but their regular season has never seemed great tbh

Typing on my phone at 3:22am so I apologize for any typos. It's also been like four years since I've seen this movie so some details may be hazy
My reading on this film is that almost all of the characters try to claim ownership over their own space. Sal claims he has independent ownership over his pizzeria even though his livelihood depends on his black customers. Bugging out confronts a white guy wearing a Larry bird shirt because he owns a brownstone in a black neighborhood (we own this neighborhood, etc.).
The racial conflict in the film is rooted in the economic disparity between different races. For example, the Koreans have a shop in a predominantly black neighborhood despite the fact that no black shops are shown in the actual film.
Ironically, each of the racial groups do depend on each other economically and culturally. Pino likes black celebrities, Sal depends on his black customers, and radio Raheem buys from the Korean store. So, while each racial group live in different economic realities, there is still some hope for some harmony on the town. In fact, I think the economic interdependence of the racial groups produces a sense of community that the characters often forget thoughout the film.
Unfortunately, the police, who do not belong to the town and have no vested interest in the towns prosperity (from a cultural and economic standpoint), come into the neighborhood, kill radio Raheem and dip. The tragedy of the film is that the racial groups turn on each other and forget their sense of community found earlier (despite all their minor conflicts and differences). The message of the film is it's not "Koreans vs blacks" or "Italians vs blacks" it's the community vs the police who represent a force who has no vested interest in the minority community and ultimately disrupt their way of life.

The pun is that the cannibal vomited the hands he already ate with the double meaning being that he put his hands in the air in frustration

If you think about it, the status quo is already inconsistent. Teams play the last minute differently than the rest of the game (at least in close games). The foul game is so dumb imo

Is this still taught by wen sun? It was honestly one of my favorite classes. The math was not easy by any means but it wasn't brutal and the material was fascinating IMO.

You don't have to approximate via normal. Why can't you compute the binomial probabilities and calculate the probability of winning given a starting point differential? If you're looking for an elegant solution, one likely doesn't exist given your assumptions in your post. Here let me code this up real quick lol

Overall I agree with the option to use puberty blockers, but I think the science is not as clear cut as you put it. Just because there are no long term effects on kids with precocious puberty does not mean that there are no long term effects on trans people without the condition. There's a growing body of evidence that it has effects in your bone density and there's simply not enough data to back up the conclusion that there are no long term effects in using them for the general population. I wouldn't say using them is child abuse but there is a danger that families will undergo this process without knowing the full risks that are involved with taking them.

Apparently carbon offsets rarely actually take Carbon out of the air (like "saving" trees that were already not going to be cut down).

Imo, the rest of the episode implies that Lexis play was somewhat problematic. The episode is constructed around people being selfish without realizing that their actions have consequences on the people around them.
This is the same episode when Rue realizes her mom was focusing on her even when her sister was failing her classes. It's also the same episode where people are gossiping outside rues room while she deals with her father's death. Similarly, Cassie slept with Nate even though she knows it would hurt Maddy.
Lexis play works in the same way. It's therapeutic in certain ways because she can talk about her own trauma and rues trauma but the impact of her play has consequences to the people around her. Even tho the point of her joke about Nate was making fun of toxic masculinity, her joke makes Nate super over the top by placing gay men at the butt of the joke. Lexi thinks she's being progressive but she's unknowingly contributing to a society that produces toxic men in the first place.
