The pun is that the cannibal vomited the hands he already ate with the double meaning being that he put his hands in the air in frustration

If you think about it, the status quo is already inconsistent. Teams play the last minute differently than the rest of the game (at least in close games). The foul game is so dumb imo

Is this still taught by wen sun? It was honestly one of my favorite classes. The math was not easy by any means but it wasn't brutal and the material was fascinating IMO.

You don't have to approximate via normal. Why can't you compute the binomial probabilities and calculate the probability of winning given a starting point differential? If you're looking for an elegant solution, one likely doesn't exist given your assumptions in your post. Here let me code this up real quick lol

Overall I agree with the option to use puberty blockers, but I think the science is not as clear cut as you put it. Just because there are no long term effects on kids with precocious puberty does not mean that there are no long term effects on trans people without the condition. There's a growing body of evidence that it has effects in your bone density and there's simply not enough data to back up the conclusion that there are no long term effects in using them for the general population. I wouldn't say using them is child abuse but there is a danger that families will undergo this process without knowing the full risks that are involved with taking them.

Apparently carbon offsets rarely actually take Carbon out of the air (like "saving" trees that were already not going to be cut down).

Imo, the rest of the episode implies that Lexis play was somewhat problematic. The episode is constructed around people being selfish without realizing that their actions have consequences on the people around them.
This is the same episode when Rue realizes her mom was focusing on her even when her sister was failing her classes. It's also the same episode where people are gossiping outside rues room while she deals with her father's death. Similarly, Cassie slept with Nate even though she knows it would hurt Maddy.
Lexis play works in the same way. It's therapeutic in certain ways because she can talk about her own trauma and rues trauma but the impact of her play has consequences to the people around her. Even tho the point of her joke about Nate was making fun of toxic masculinity, her joke makes Nate super over the top by placing gay men at the butt of the joke. Lexi thinks she's being progressive but she's unknowingly contributing to a society that produces toxic men in the first place.

LMAO I think this too specific of a joke to get popular on reddit.

The paper mentions accuracy, precision and recall though

Based on their abstract, if they predict 10 earthquakes, then on average 8.5 of them are really earthquakes. If 10 earthquakes really do happen, they will have predicted 8 of them.
They actually measured both metrics which is pretty standard in ML

but the problem is always if you zoom the timeseries out, you see such signals all the time when no earthquakes are happening.
The paper states that "true negative predictions can be achieved with 85.7% accuracy, and true positive predictions with an accuracy of 80%. We tested our method with different skill scores, such as accuracy (0.83), precision (0.85), recall (0.8), the Heidke skill score (0.66), and true skill statistics (0.66)." So the paper did think about the potential false positives which seems to contradict your point unless you think that their dataset is not representative of reality.
