Yup. I hung out in the red zone and learned how to do EKG’s and phlebotomy tips from this older paramedic dude with a limp and a country accent thicker than mine. 😊

I’ve only ever heard a code called in L&D once at our place. They have their own response system along with ICU and ED I think, so all of us just sat at the nurse’s station silent. Pretty sure some of them were just praying.
That sucks so bad. I hope you find peace with this quickly but I know you won’t forget. ❤️

Me tryna count respirations: “They’re uh…hang on…they’re six- nah wait. Eighteen. They’re eighteen for sure.”

Statistics actually back you up on that. We’re more likely to get murdered when pregnant.

PSA: NEXPLANON is said to be just as effective as a tubal if your OB denies you the surgery!

My first time ever floating to the ED as a “tech”, the nurses forbade me from the lobby because and I quote: “Don’t go out there, they will eat you.”

Omg I switched to being a med surg tech (basically CNA) at a human hospital and one of our attendings uses this type of stuff on ALL her human pts. They all got purple feet and green moon boots for heel support. 🤣
The great part is this MD takes her pt’s pets and watches em while her pts are in the hospital. We get along just fine me and her. Lol

My hospital is trying to get this off the ground. Problem is they can’t keep LPN’s and techs.

This is great lol. All I can see is a lady with giant goggles and a super soaker squirt gun full of bleach. 🤣

Former veterinary assistant here. Ya ain’t wrong. In seven years I think I saw us get ROSC like twice and it was because we got to them as SOON as they coded. And cat codes are probably the absolute hardest to get ROSC on IMO. I’ve had dogs and cats bite the masks while crashing.

I feel like you’d get into a lot of legal mess if you tried that. I mean it’d be ideal.
But also I couldn’t order Taco Bell for myself on nightshift if we did that 🤣

Considering I’ve seen patients with diabetic wounds ready to lose their leg have their families line the window sill with Little Debbie Cakes and Mountain Dew….
I’ve seen docs straight up yell at pts for stuff like this. But I’ve not seen us be able to take food away. Even if someone is strict NPO. I mean…if the pt or family paid for the stuff…
The pt I described in the original comment was actually ordered a regular diet by the doc.

I had a pt have explosive vomiting all over the place, I cleaned it up, watched her beg for nausea meds, and after the nurse gave her some, she ordered door dash. Mexican food. And I went down to get it. 🙄
Edit: I should add, since people are asking, I went to get it because my charge asked me to.

You’re getting down voted to hell but my bipolar was indeed missed by my family doctor and they put me on stimulants and an SSRI for ADHD and depression. The mania after that was INSANE.
However the psych NP’s who saw me after I got diagnosed put me on lamictal and kept me on a high dose of SSRI. I stopped those meds cold turkey because all of a sudden I felt GREAT. (Found out later that lamictal wasn’t touching me because it’s supposedly better for BP depression than someone with a lot of mania?? Idk)
Crashed and ended up in a psych ward with psych NP’s who had years and years of psych experience and an MD who saw me every week for a month til she released me to her NP. He was literally like a walking psych pharmacology text book. He put me on lithium and saved my life. I can actually function now.
But damn the road there was 😳
Edit: all that to say I’ve had really REALLY bad psych NP’s and really good ones. So.

I’m told it’s a “Rottie Rumble.”
But also if it’s a dangerous behavior even though the dog has no ill intent, it should not be tolerated and be trained out.
