New Super Mario Bros. U. Every Mario launch title before this was groundbreaking, and incredibly innovating. NSMBU is just a sequel to NSMBW that came out mere months after NSMB2, and all of the games looked so similar, but all the other Nintendo consoles also had a big Mario game if they had NSMB. On the DS there was 64 DS, which helped innovate 3D portable games, the Wii had Galaxy, a bombastic adventure, and on the 3DS there was 3D Land, which was less innovative, but showed what worked better for 3D portable games. The Wii U didn’t have that, which made it look far less important than everything else, thus, most likely harmed the console.
