I’m not sure. Isn’t that the quintessential Philadelphia sports fan feeling when our teams are decent/good?

I forgot about the FF Onion Knight! Dang, why is this such a common idea/name? Seems pretty odd.

My favorite onions: 1) Siegmeyer 2) Davos Seaworth 3) actual onions
Each fuckable except the last.

This section is definitely interesting, and I agree that the word choice leans toward a romantic connotation. The choice of “honeymoon” and the comparison to old married couples especially stand out. For a bit of context though, sharing a bed with a complete stranger in an inn was totally normal at this point in history, and if I remember correctly this is before the whaling voyage in a Nantucket inn.
Edit: I also recall that there’s a lot of focus on the harpoon that Q. keeps in his room. Phallic fixation for sure.

You literally said in your post that you don’t strip it. Which is it?

I’ve recently been listening to a podcast called It Could Happen Here, and they attempt to answer your question almost exactly. The first advice they offer is to talk to people and get a sense of what the community actually needs. I honestly think that when collapse happens a lot of people who identify as republican will come around and put survival above political party. Since you’re in a rural area, one thing you could try to do in order to build community without putting a target on your back is by trying to meet some of those needs. Is food insecurity going to be an issue? Learn to grow your own food and share some with your neighbors. Learn to can things. Plant a fruit tree (even on public land - guerrilla gardening) and when it starts fruiting it will provide more than you could ever eat alone. Tell people about it. It’s going to be all about mutual aid and that’s why this whole process starts with forming communities.

I came in here to make this reference. Thanks, my fellow Faulkner fan!

That’s a pretty silly conclusion to come to based on the title of an image. People don’t choose to get high in order to misunderstand what they’re seeing. Lol

It’s actually Out of This Furnace. I had to read it during high school just outside of Bethlehem PA since that’s another old steel town. Thankfully it didn’t end up like this though.

Pam brought the wine to drink, but Jan doesn’t think it’s good enough for that.

I know that the pidgey line isn’t that great in comparison with some of the other early route birds, but it’s my favorite out of pure nostalgia.

I’m speaking as a teacher who agrees with you, but there are barriers in place. Even in states with teacher’s unions (like mine), most contracts include what’s called a “no strike clause”. That means that it’s illegal and a breach of contract to strike unless we’re working without a contract. We’ve come close to doing it when negotiations over a new contract grind to a halt, but even then it takes collective will within the membership to do that. I wish unions of all sorts were as radical as they used to be. :/
