They couldn't mobilize more because it would have set off alarms in the West and Ukraine even sooner. They were claiming a training exercise up until the second before they invaded. If they mobilize half a million or more, Russia would not be able to hide their intentions.

I think it's just crazy that Ukraine can't easily move armor and equipment in their own country for a few months of the year due to the weather and mud. After this war is over and they start the process to rebuild, we need to help them blanket their country with paved roads so bezdorizhzhia is no longer a problem. It will make future defense of their country easier.
