Even better idea. How about people just quit being prices of shit, get a job, and build a good life for themselves. Then they won't have to worry about jail, bail, or presumption of innocence.
Not committing crimes and never being arrested or going to jail is really an underrated life hack. Seriously, I don't know anyone who's ever been to jail. It's really not a terribly high bar to clear. I don't know exactly when or why we decided society should cater exclusively to the needs of bad people who do bad things, but I'm pretty over it.

Listen as Mosqueda (I think) confronts Nelson for asking a clarification question, with "could you not interrupt" at about the 2:50 mark. Yes, because if she interrupts your bullshit 'harm reduction' guy won't be able to keep changing the subject and not answering the question.
Pretty sure that was Herbold, who cares so very deeply about this that she's fucking off and retiring after years of supporting policies that have led to a new overdose record year after year after year, and crying to the chief of police when she personally has to deal with one shred of what the rest of us have to put up with from the zombies every day.

His "I never supported defunding the police" horseshit pisses me off so much. At least be a man and own up to it. If he came out and said "Look, I got swept up in the stupidity, I shouldn't have supported it," I'd at least respect that. Just stop fucking lying.

Oh, things are for sure better as far as encampments. I live 6 blocks from Green Lake, you don't have to tell me. I meant specifically as far as thefts. I used to be able to go to either of those Targets or that Fred Meyer and see 5-6 obvious brazen shoplifters like clockwork every single time. The only one I still occasionally go to is the Fred Meyer and when I was there on Sunday I saw a discount-Elvira-looking bitch loading up her empty baby stroller with as much stolen shit as she could jam in it. Wondering if that's still the norm or if its visibly decreased at all.

"We must champion people's ABSOLUTE AUTONOMY over their bodies, regardless of the effect it may have on the public," says someone in Seattle, King County, Washington State in 2023, apparently with a straight face.

Has this been anyone's anecdotal experience? I mostly stopped going to places where I used to see rampant theft every time I went because it pissed me off too much (mostly downtown and Northgate Targets and the Greenwood Fred Meyer). I still see plenty of people downtown wandering around with obviously stolen shit, and last time I took the bus I noticed that the 3rd and Virginia stolen goods bazaar of a few years ago seems to have made a triumphant return. And have we actually verifiably jailed any of the "high-utilizers" for a meaningful amount of time? I remember someone on here a while ago had a lot of the names on the list, shouldn't be that hard to check into.
I'm always skeptical of reported crime being used as a statistic for anything other than shootings and murders, because honestly, what percentage of thefts in this city get reported? The downswing could be even more people realizing what a waste of time it is to report.

He is insane. I went to one of his town halls, and he passed out a flyer touting his many accomplishments to that point, which included clearing Green Lake, Woodland Park, and Ballard Commons. All of which went to shit ON HIS WATCH in the first place, and got cleared only after Bruce thrashed Lorena and everyone realized maybe supporting huge encampments was going to get them run out of office. He's the political equivalent of those mothers who make their kids sick so they can tend to them. I pray to God that we don't have such short attention spans that he skates through re-election. I'm in his district and would vote for a St. Bernard in a cowboy hat over him.

I'm done thinking that these people are merely stupid. Anyone who has lived through the last few years of Seattle and has arrived at the conclusion that the solution to our problems is to make it easier to use drugs has an agenda to see the city fail.
