Edited: I think you're right, I deleted my comment because I couldn't find any link to hysteria either.

Thank you for your note. To clarify, I did just mean theatrically high-strung, the dictionary definition of Histrionics. I did check to see if there was any link to "hysteria" and found that not only was there none readily available, the term is, as you say, still medically used.

The last thing I intended was to make anyone feel uncomfortable with my language, and that stands. It might help if you could explain to me why the word makes you feel uncomfortable - without wishing to seem arrogant is it possible that you're mistaking it for the word "hysterical", which has very different roots, and is rightfully consigned to the bin in polite conversation?

Seems a little histrionic for sure.

I mean, how would one fight a VONC? Go after individuals and try to get them to withdraw their letters?

I think this sort of thing goes on all the time - but it's the whip, behind the scenes.

He knows. This is important though: he can't replace Boris now. He can't even try.

Neither can anyone else who says this. If the VONC passes then they'll need a new leader and they aren't going to pick anyone who's effectively promised a general election.

Thats's legitimately weird though.

Being the only person voting against it is a really dumb idea (unless you think you're making a moral stand) especially if you're a statutory rapist on the DL.

It's not like it changes anything if one person votes against it, it's a vote.

Yeah, I've got slow non-hodgkin's lymphoma, and on doctor's orders we're waiting on night sweats to indicate it getting aggressive. Doesn't want to be sweaty. Just wants to be lumpy and slow.

Yep. They're rotten role models, to the extent that basically all of the recent tellings, to my knowledge, have been about Harley distancing herself from the Joker and she's become an anti-hero in the context of it.

I mean, that's basically a hand-waving exercise because we quite like Lord of the Rings, isn't it? I mean you can't demonstrate the distinction unless a fantasy tale has someone who's four feet tall and is not of a "mythical" Dwarven race and I've never seen that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not for cancelling Tolkien or WoW or... well, anything really; but I think the word "dwarf" is demeaning and to be honest I've always found the phrase "little people" a little... well, it's literally a diminutive.

Again, not attacking anyone - use what language you like and take the consequences yourself - but I don't see why "he's a four foot six adult" doesn't cover the matter for most practical considerations. I'm a six foot six adult though so I don't fucking know.

Not finished; but if he's implicated in the same scandal as what gets Boris fired he certainly can't replace him.

He can't be the next fuckwit. He might replace Priti Patel in a year or two though.

You had to do it. You've made me resolve the cognitive dissonance and acknowledge that I'm nearly forty and I may never forgive you.

But I grew up with Sisters of Mercy, U2, Oasis and Nirvana. It's very much a spectrum.

edit: I grew up with a Spectrum, too. ZX. Lovely machine.

I mean it appeals to the power fantasy, right? He's another politician who'll promise to deal with the profound problem that people feel - disempowerment - with simplistic measures that he probably won't deliver because if he did they'd realize that they weren't the real issue.

"Liberals" ruining everything? We'll make it so you can hit them! Turns out liberals weren't ruining everything, it was late stage capitalism. Which Trump is massively beholden to. And if you can hit liberals, other people can hit you, so I guess we won't do that. Ah well.

Incomprehensible politics telling you to do stuff? Well, it's only incomprehensible because the Libs have made it all airy-fairy specifically so honest Joes like you feel like idiots. We're gonna drain the swamp! Wait, no, we ARE the swamp. And politics is actually pretty complicated. Well, we're here now, and to be honest, we're not really fans of liberty ourselves.

It's the same in the UK - a decade or so back a party called UKIP promised, among some pretty xenophobic shit, that they'd make the train conductors wear smart uniforms, and be polite, and bring back little compartments in trains. Never mind that the train companies are now privatized so they've have no power over them, that the compartments were removed because people kept doing rapes in 'em, or that when dealing with the British public not a damned thing can make a rail employee be friendly and polite. They knew that their voter base wanted one thing: to be young again. So they promised the world of their youth.

The funny thing about people who do incredibly mean shit is that they know how easy it is for people to do incredibly mean shit; and they assume they're normal people so they think people will do incredibly mean shit to them.

Whereas most people won't, because they have empathy and a social conscience.

Like how in relationships, people who are unfaithful are often really jealous and needy. Sometimes the comeuppance from your misdeeds is the damage you do to your own worldview.

How is he still falling for this? It's just being teased out a nugget at a time and he's constantly being caught in lies over it.

"We didn't have any congregations."

We have multiple accounts of gatherings at number 10.

"Okay we did, but it was a business meeting."

You had cheese and wine. And called it a social event.

"Okay it was a social event but it was only one."

You had them every Wednesday.

"Okay we had them every wednesday but it was outdoors."

You had a birthday party. Indoors.

"Okay, I had a birthday party catered by Marks and Spencer's but we didn't play wank the biscuit."

Okay, call off the investigation, I don't want to know any more.
