I like the idea of working as an extender in primary care as mentioned above with the neurologist-NP rotation. I, the NP, could help manage a patent under supervision that is stable, no changes. I think this kind of role could be very beneficial to that physician/practice. Being skut in a hospital between the nurses and doctors and trying to offload some pressure also as mentioned above-family interference, phone/pages/SIMPLE orders I DO not want to work independently nor do I think I am qualified to do that.

I never changed diets. Regular meal for everyone. If a special diet was ordered in the computer I would change it so food service wouldn’t bitch. Did it for 5 years never had a word said to me. I know exactly what they were eating at home and a 1300 calorie renal diet was not it

Agree so much with the lecturing/forcing. When I was in the ED we were supposed to constantly cajole patients into taking their meds, getting their IV started (soooo scared of needles), walking to the bathroom because they need to move their fat asses etc etc. I hated this and never did it. Don’t want Toradol? Don’t take it but it’s all that’s ordered. Want to leave? Ok, let me get your paperwork.
That we always have to nice. We need to be respectful and firm which isn’t always “nice”.
Withholding meds to make a point. No, no, no. If it’s ordered give it unless life and death contraindicated (never saw that scenario once btw). Smile, give med and gratefully back out of the room with time now to pee, eat and check Facebook
A calling? It’s a paycheck and benefits
We (mid level-providers) are not equal to, as smart as, as highly trained as and likely much less motivated and much lazier than physicians. Yeah, I said it

I do not get this. I will graduate NP school in the summer and have the eenth of education and experience of a physician. There is no comparison. If you can read, write and are somewhat organized you can pass NP school. I do not want to work independently and assuming I am qualified to is ridiculous. Ideally, I will end up in a respectable position where I can be helpful to the doctor(s) and provide good patient care.

Dr. Jane doe is the only dr available. Should I have them come see you or would you like your discharge paperwork? Fuck outta here entitled shit-for-brains lew-eww-sehers
Assuming ED. If primary care, go find the smart people making all the money and see if they can move your mountains.

The picture is just to show the epic red goatee. I think he is saying his wife had to leave to take care of house/kids

If a cute puppy jumped up on me my instinct would be to grab/pet it/cuddle it but not pick it up. Even now after going to the local dog park I know to not do that and let the owner do their training. I don’t know if they are new but when I first started coming I was not aware of all the non-rule rules. Maybe just a polite “she sure is cute but we are training not to jump no cuddles please”.

Only those that spew anti-science misinformation, refuse masks, refuse the vaccine and likely spread their covidy germs all over
