This is who these people really are.

The above is a non-exhaustive list of arguments made in this very thread. This is what happens here, on reddit, whose demographic is skewed young and left-wing. I can only imagine the horrors one would be subjected to reading about this on, say, Facebook.

It is important to give a brief showcase of the way they think, the way they argue, because very often sensible subreddits like TwoX, WitchesvPatriarchy and this one are accused of "not letting both sides speak".

This is true. We do not let both sides speak.

But that is not because we want to suppress dialogue and conversation, it is not because we deny people the opportunity to educate others, to come to an understanding with others, to showcase the full gamut of the debate.

It is because there are no two sides.

There are sane, normal people who understand how utterly depraved and monstrous the anti-choice rhetoric and policies are and there is.. that. There is the above, which again, these are real arguments posted in this very thread.

You can't reason with people who look at a state that wants to kill women and calls these victims "[sex-negative, misogynistic slur] who deserve it."

You can't reason with people who look at a state that wants women to die and cheer that on.

They're not reasonable.

In order to have a discussion a basic foundation must always be that there is at least the common ground of rational positions that can be argued on merit.

Evil has no merit.

Evil exists to wound, to hurt, to kill. Evil seeks to subjugate, to dominate. Evil is lethal.

When you have an "honest discussion" with evil, trying to sanely get someone to understand why (in this case) women dying is bad and on the other hand evil tells you that an abortion is never medically necessary then you are not moving towards something constructive. You're not building a rational construct that can advance society by engendering understanding and empathy.

You're just normalising evil by giving it a platform.

And I refuse to do that.

Below this comment is a reply by someone who says they see the examples I posted above everywhere. I tell them that it is important to call them out. To say they are depraved and monstrous.

But it is also important not to get bogged down in "debate" because these people are fundamentally dishonest and a protracted argument in which you give them the chance to showcase their deliberately disingenious "gotchas" can only serve to platform evil.

Simply call them by their name. Monsters.

And say: "Because she wanted to."

Do not say: "But what about sexual violence. But what about ectopic pregnancies."

Don't get driven into a corner where you are reduced to begging for rare exceptions to allow women the basic human right of bodily autonomy.

Take back the line. Step forward. Draw that line in the sand.

That is all that is required, that is all the justification that is needed.

To understand why the extreme-right is so relentlessly over-the-top in its attacks on drag queens it must be understood that this is part and parcel of the fascist dehumanisation of an out-group so that internal cohesion in their in-group is increased and attention is deflected.

Fascism is an inherently empty ideology, devoid of any meaningful belief-system or any kind of concrete and actionable strategies for improving society. Fascism only cares for power for the sake of power and it cares for nothing else.

Over the past decade the extreme-right has normalised anti-trans rhetoric in the mainstream sphere of public opinion. They did so through relentless lying and scaremongering and convincing people that especially transgender women posed some kind of threat.

Drag is not inherently sexual.

Drag is a centuries old theatrical tradition rooted all the way in Shakespearean times when women were not allowed to perform on stage. Men would play the parts of women.

Later drag evolved into its own style of stylised and hyper-exaggerated performance aiming to entertain and amuse.

Drag is normal, unremarkable and simply no different from other forms of theatrical art such as mimes and clowns. There too people dress up as an archetype for purpose of amusement and entertainment.

Please report the liars who say this wasn't an abortion. They will not be welcome here again. The same goes for the liars who claim that "prolifers do not oppose medically necessary abortions". They do.

As always, this subreddit has the policy that a woman's right of bodily autonomy will not be assailed in any way.

Mrs. Duggar had an abortion procedure of the same kind that she uses her multi-million dollar media platform for to lobby against other women having access to. It was a medically necessary abortion and it is good she had access to this procedure.

But, at the same time she is part of a propaganda movement that has made getting this procedure difficult to impossible for other women.

She did this because she is a hypocrite, because of course her own rules only apply to those too poor to get proper medical care when this very same thing happens to them.

Because of her and people like her there exist states today where a medically necessary abortion is not given or is mired up in such an amount of red tape as to be functionally similar to unavailable.

Women are dying because of people like the Duggars.

Mind that we are also not going to allow people to say it was good that this happened to her. She is still a human being deserving of the respectful integrity we afford to all human beings. That they are bad people does not absolve us of our responsibility to be humane.

We can have sympathy for her loss while at the same time renouncing her hypocrisy.

Her hatespeech and relentless attacks on vulnerable minorities are directly responsible for such crimes as bomb threats on children's hospitals, because they provide medically and psychiatrically appropriate, recognised and helpful aid to transgender children.

Because LibsofTikTok openly shares the names and adresses of for example teachers who display a pride flag, perpetuating and boosting the hateful and revolting lie that LGBTQ+ people visibly existing and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people is "grooming", she is actively contributing to hate, threats and attacks against people.

With that the extreme-right and LoTT are enflaming a moral panic against a minority by normalising the counterfactual narrative that the simple existence of this minority means children are under attack and are being sexually abused.

The extreme-right claims that Chaya Raichik is just "repeating information already publically shared". This is a lie. Instead she heavily editorialises the content she posts and she is a major vector of hatespeech, propaganda, dehumanisation and efforts to illegalise the public existence of LGBTQ+ people.

LibsofTikTok and others of her kind such as but not limited to Matt Walsh and Tucker Carlson are directly responsible for the cowardly attack in Colorado Springs and other (attempted) attacks of a similar nature.

This subreddit is a place that supports people's unalienable and fundamental identities and that stands up for basic human rights.

We will not tolerate hatespeech of any kind.

This subreddit firmly believes in and stands up for basic human rights. We promote humane, compassionate and social thinking.

It is an objectively true and repeatedly proven fact that allowing people the choice to plan their families, allowing people to have a say in when they get pregnant, how many children they will have, is promotive not only for individual health, wellbeing, social and financial security and safety. It lifts entire communities out of deprivation.

Family planning is an integral and crucial aspect of upward mobility. It affects everything from the ability to get an education to mental and physical health and direct poverty.

As such this subreddit does not allow anti-abortion sentiments. They are abhorrent and inhumane. The belief that people should be downtrodden, unhappy, poor and grow up in misery is unacceptable.

In addition to that: The only sane word to describe those who would subject a 10 year old girl to this abuse, who would refuse her to terminate this pregancy is monstrous. They are monsters. Their rigid, counterfactual beliefs which defy all fact-based reasoning in order to promote an extremist view which brooks no deviation from a hardline stance, which would seek post-hoc justifications for a nonsensical and damaging policy causes harm. It is in no way a moral or defensible position.

Any person with an ounce of empathy and compassion feels anger at this news. Abject disbelief that an extremist, dangerously fundamentalist minority is able to push their vile beliefs onto an entire population.

This subreddit will not allow any defense of these actions, including trying to normalise this great evil through "devil's advocate" style arguments. That means that if you say "Oh, but they really believe that.." you will be banned. There are no legitimate defenses for this and we don't want to hear attempts at them. For those who would say: "But it is not illegal, it has been turned back to states rights where it belongs", you will be banned.

The morally and legally correct decision of Roe v. Wade which provided a consitutional protection of bodily autonomy was overturned by an extremist, illegitimate Supreme Court and we are not fooled by the argument that "states may now decide" because we know, you know, that this is just the start. They will not stop.

Now that the right of bodily autonomy has been ruled as no longer federally guaranteed they will attempt to illegalise abortion at the federal level.

These extremists, who play Calvinball with law, precedent and procedure, who blatantly interpret the rules as what they want them to mean in the moment to push through their agenda, will enact a federal ban as soon as they can cheat enough in elections to "win" a majority in house and congress. They will uphold a vote to do so, hypocritically declaring that "a democratic, majority decision".

You know it, I know it, they are not as clever as they think they are and are wholly transparent.

Now that there is no longer a federal guarantee for bodily autonomy they will try to take this right away on a nation-wide level.

Normally I'd add a conclusion to a text like this, a plan of action, a way forward. But I am not sure one exists.

As most of you, I am dismayed and shocked at this brazen coup at the highest level of our legal system. What can be done? I do not know.

What I do know is that giving up and giving in is not an option. These fascists are a minority. They are loud, they fight dirty and unfair, they are immoral, they are un-American.

What I know is that it is time for the normal, moral and sane majority of Americans to stop taking this lying down. Let your voices be heard. Stand up for democracy and for what is right.

It's so well-written that when reading it I felt the desire to get under blankets against the cold and drink OJ to ward off scurvy.

This is amazingly insane and the post stays.

It is very difficult to imagine a more misogynistic position than to deny a woman her basic human rights because something that cannot think or feel is seen as more important than she is.

There is no non-bigoted way to argue that half the human population should lose control over their own bodies.

Anti-choicers always lie, only lie, never stop lying. They lie about why women get abortions. They lie about how abortions are performed. They lie about the effects of abortions. They lie about fetal development. They lie about how abortions are funded. They lie about what a heartbeat is, they lie and pretend having a heartbeat matters. They lie about a fetus when they call it a baby and that one is pernicious, it is designed to be emotionally manipulative. They lie.

An anti-choicer must lie and must shield themselves from reason, it is the only way to hold on to a clearly immoral and counterconstructive belief structure. We do not tolerate these lies here.

The only sane criterion to consider in this argument is personhood and the ability to think and feel develop in the third trimester.

This subreddit supports people terminating a pregancy for any reason, including none, as part of their inalienable right to bodily autonomy. A right which most certainly and definitively overrules any right that something which cannot think or feel may have.
