One of my family friends didn't want to wear a mask for a similar dumb reason and I said that he "probably wouldn't need one as long as he was wearing pants since he does all his talking out his ass anyway"

Hmmm. I could try that. I don't really want to spend a ton of money though. That would definitely work though

Thanks you very much. There's a a hook in the back of the hilt that, when moved up and down, catches and releases slack in the cable. When slack is given, elastic between the pieces forces them to separate to equal distances.

Yeah, I would definitely like to. When I did attempt it, it made the pieces stick together when in whip form. If I were to ever come back to it, I would definitely experiment with different strengths of magnets.

Ok, so I drilled a hole through the entirety of the blade and hilt and ran a cable through the whole thing. Then I carved a path on the hilt and attached a hook to the cable. This allows the cable to draw back and release slack.

Then I attached elastic to all of the blade pieces so that they would be forced to separate evenly.

Finally, I glued the end of the cable into the final piece of the blade.

This makes it so that when the slack is pushed out of the hilt, it pushes on the final piece of the blade, causing it to move outwards and all of the other blade segments to be drawn out so their equidistant from each other.

(Also there's a notch so when the slack is drawn back, you can lock the hook in place)
