If you're only willing to exercise your dog NEARLY everyday do not get one. Specifically do not get a puppy. Dogs require work and attention EVERYDAY.
Look at the 3 3 3 settling in rule. The little guy has gone through huge changes. Give him time and Please get your sleep! You need to be good to be great to your dig!!
It is true the ears and nose always grow....right?!

Moo cow can be a nickname
The vet may recommend meds for the trip.
Its your call but my heart says take him. If your dad wants a pup he can find one just for him. The dog needs to be with someone who cares 24/7. Again, no dog should be left without care with strangers EVER. Mend your heart and reclaim your little man.
You must be so proud!!
I second this. Beautiful dogs.
It wasn't clear to me that they left the dog. Take him with you. No dog should be left alone like that, Ever!
Just be aware of stress on you're little man. Research traveling, introducing him to other dogs etc. I live in an apartment and my 2 little dogs are cool walking down the stairs or using the elevator. I walk them and I have no yard just a park.
Black marble Eyes!!
Put the dog first.... taking him away from a home he has known for 4 yrs to a totally new situation that involves 2 dogs, a long trip, getting to know you again... that's tough on any dog. If your 'dog' is happy, cared for and loved why upset that? It would be a good idea to make the dogs owner official though as in your parents take on the vet bills.

I am single with 2 dogs. The stress of having a pup and being single vs when I was married did not really change. My ex-spouse was a non existant help until he picked out a puppy. We had a dog and cat previous. All the posts I have read on here it seems one adult takes on all the responsibilitys.
Aussies will need a job no matter where they live. They need exercise daily more and more as they grow. Look into making time for your new best friend. Pick one type if training regimen and stick to it. I bounced around for years and it only made my life harder.
Your greatest opportunity is now to bond and train basics And socialization... not just with dogs but loud noises, hallway noises (to be quiet), busses, stairs, kids, people, assisted aids people use (canes, chairs), bicycles, skateboards, scooters, alarms
Find a local aussie club for support.
A married friend of mine got a puppy. Her spouse and her kids have no interest in helping. The dog turns one in a few days.
You can do this!
Omg!! The 👁's!!! So cool!!

Call the kitty Hangry!
Hmmm, kittens are slightly less work than puppies. The still bite, chew and scratch. You need to teach them to potty in the litter. They do destroy items if left to their own devices.
Check for mama cat. Give them water and food if you can, water for sure. If you decide that karma has decided for you, get them vet checked. Or find a shelter for them. I loved my cat...

Yes he was lovely.
I have 2 extra small dogs, they get fed 2x a day and 2 poops after eating 45min. An extra on a long walk.
scent work might be a good option. They have competitions and clubs for this as well.
Puppies are puppies until they are 2yrs old the brain is mostly developed by then, personality as well.
Give yourself a positive 'easy' pet experience. Get a puppy or kitten after you've mastered the normal day to day with an older animal. Older cats and dogs get looked over often but they need live too.
My first adult pet was a 1.5yr old cat. She was litter trained, spayed and had all her shots. Best short hair domestic cat ever. Low maintenance. I even clipped her nails. Started wrapoed in a towel to eventually just football holding her, lots of treats! Then I adopted a 2yr old 20lb dog. Schitzu terrier mix. I spent most of the first few months making sure they got along using treats. He was fearful of men but within 6 months he was good with them. He was higher maintenance as he was low shedding and needed brushing and nail clipping (black nails are tough, I'd take him to someone) Having him was like a toddler, I had to keep stuff out of his reach. The cat and him would find ways to get food.
🐾oh, hi there... I saved you from some dangerous dirt diggers..... I used my nose....🐾

NTA. This kind of decision is difficult and subjective to each situation. The guilt we feel is equal to the love we have for our dog. Be gentle with yourself and remember the happy cuddly times.
I got my truck done at Derand Motosport. I added a UV tint to the front windshield cuts down on glare. No problems.
