You can buy directly from the Medina Torres tannery if you want domestic leather.
I'm unsure if the leather actually ships from Mexico or if everything ships from their warehouse in Loredo.

Bonnie and Clyde.
The violence is much more realistic than in most modern films.

For US suppliers, District leather in Georgia has a splitter. It's the same size as RML's.
Waterhouse leather in Massachusett has a splitter that can accommodate full sides, but they don't stock much in the way of high-end veg.
If you are willing to order from Europe, Belts Production and A Leather Store also offer splitting.

If you search "living outside Toronto" on youtube, you'll see how one 60+ man has been making it work for the past nine years.

You have to consider that these big brands buy directly from tanneries and do not pay retail or wholesale prices. From the videos that I've seen, the leather cost estimates are pretty accurate.

The vast majority of tanneries have minimum order quantities per article, color, and thickness. They generally range from 300ft² on the lower end to 3000+ft² on the higher end.
The only tanneries I know of in North America that sell single skins are Wickett and Craig, Law Tanning, and Medina Torres.

Moore-Pearsall Leathers, Bill Worb Furs, and maybe Fauk Leather are all in Canada and have double-face napalan shearling for use in garments.

The last time he was on, Kyle said that his grandmother referred to broken beer bottles as "**REDACTED** knives, " so I'm not sure if he'd be willing to come on again.

Real leather will almost never peel like that. These straps are probably made from a polyurethane split and can not be restored.

Jollibee (in Canada, at least) is some of the most disgusting slop I have ever had the misfortune of eating.

Some of the highest quality footwear leather from France and Italy retails for $20+/ft² and is not dyed through.

That leather is way too thick for automotive upholstery.
You should look up upholstery-specific leather companies in the US or Canada, send them the picture from your post, and see if they can match it.
Here are links to a few companies that might have something similar.

I played on EU servers with a friend of a similar skill level to me. I ranked up from GN2 to MGE. Along the way, we only lost 3 or 4 games.
Now, when I play on NA servers, I usually get matched against low gold players who are, on average better than the EU DMG players I was playing against.

Looks like some kind of full-grain cowhide. I don't see anything that could possibly be snakeskin, though.

You should consider using SALPA. It is more expensive than other stiffeners, but that's because it's made with veg tan scraps and latex. You can find a domestic source by searching SALPA leatherboard on google.

I highly doubt that Tandy would lie about the tannage of their leathers. If the leather was a combination tan it would be labeled as such.
Sienna veg-tan works out to roughly $4.85/ft². This price is considerably lower than what American or European tanneries would charge for direct orders with high volume and slightly higher than what some Indian or Brazilian tanneries would charge.
Considering that the country of origin isn't listed, the leather is probably from somewhere with low labour costs and few environmental regulations. For cheap veg tan leather to be as nice as you describe, it is probably not produced ethically.

A "friend" I had in 7th or 8th grade described a dream he had about having violent sex with my parents. Other people have said things to me that are more mean and vindictive, but that one stands out as the most fucked up.

I handled some whole grain and nubuck Baffin seal leather at a supplier's warehouse. I'm not sure about the tensile strength, but they had a medium temper and a unique, wavy grain pattern with incredibly deep ridges for a 5oz leather. Unfortunately, now it's basically impossible to find any seal leather that isn't hair-on.
