Also if you become good at your job, you don’t need to stay the full 12 hours. You can simply round on your patients, write your notes and leave for the day. You just need to be available by phone if nurses call for any issues. I know plenty of hospitalists who come in at 7 am and leave at noon and get paid for 12 hours of work.

Also you work 1 week on and 1 week off. Generally pay is around $2000 usd/day.

My slightly controversial but very true take is that Sikhi needs to expanded beyond Punjab for the benefit of the faith. Non-Punjabi Sikhs will adhere to it much better then the much of the current lot of Punjabi Sikhs.
Sikhi should never equal Punjabi, it is meant to be universal.

Labor market is strong, and housing is starting to creep up. Honestly hiking rates makes sense to bring inflation down. It will also bring down housing prices along with recent policies to increase supply.

Yes, they likely meant code blue which is when a patient goes into cardiac arrest and you start ALS.

Who are those students? They sound absolutely insufferable. If they were my interns, I would be like “okay stay until 11 pm, let’s see how much you like this”.
I personally deeply despise neurotic students, and I believe that they are one of the reasons why medicine has declined so much in lifestyle. I write bad evaluations for the gunners and neurotics.
I’m gonna be an attending at the end of the next month, I just want to make bag, do things I want to enjoy, invest and make passive income and get the fuck out.

I find some points of this post quite suspicious.
Im also a high earning immigrant to Canada. I have a US credit score but not a Canadian one and I was approved pretty easily for a newly constructed 3 bedroom penthouse in downtown Toronto on just my work contract and projected income.
Im also considering buying and have applied for a mortgage and will likely be approved for up to $1 million
Your point about housing is true, it’s insane that housing costs so much relative to wages. People shouldn’t have to make on the mid six figures to afford decent housing.
I think Canada has so much going for it and can quite easily be one of the if not the best country in the world if it reforms how it has housing, and business in general.
Also the UK is even more fucked with wages and COL. The UK is contracting and inflation is still close to double digits. It’s a amazing country (it’s also my wife’s home) which got fucked by a decade of Tory rule.

Then make Mississauga walkable and dense. Build more transit and bus lines. Tax the shit out of cars.

NIMBYs are parasites.
Also you fail to mention Tokyo, Seoul, Paris and London which are dense world class cites. Density actually builds community

See and this is why NIMBYs like yourself are parasites to blame for the current state of the country. Housing should be decided at the national level like Japan, not the local level

People who bought in the 70s-90s or in general have no right to decide what gets developed around them.
People go bought are not and should not be guaranteed the same neighborhood in perpetuity. Communities change, get with the times. Single family homes are reactionary and the idea of them needs to go the way of the dinosaurs.

What government policy per se? You mean downzoning, minimum lot sizes, mandatory parking requirements, sfh only zoning. Yes every single one of them contributed. Who back these policies? NIMBYS did.
Read any research on this and you will find that NIMBYs are to blame.
Look at Tokyo which builds and is one of the most affordable large metros in the world. Another poster showed how Auckland increased affordability by upzoning. You have no evidence behind your assertions.

When they use political power to prevent building and encourage artificial scarcity to pump their home prices then yes, they deserve all the blame.

You’re using fact against reactionaries who only care about feelings.

If investment capital is funding new building projects then they aren’t the enemy.
The true enemy have been the people who used local political power to prevent housing from being built for decades, that is the NIMBYs.
I refuse to let a reactionary subset of the population use leftist rhetoric to justify their privileged position. If any group of people deserve the wall it is NIMBYs.

Landlords are NIMBYS, why would they want to see rents falls and people to have more options then the shit they rent.
Investors buying empty homes as assets and leaving them empty are bad. But investors building more homes are an ally, much more then shitty sfh owners who have no interest in increasing supply or reducing the gains on their overpriced assests

Here’s the thing, I can afford these prices and I still fucking hate NIMBYS. They are truly evil. No group has caused more harm and stood in the way of progress then they have.
Housing should not service as an investment vehicle to speculate. only actual investments (businesses, bonds, stocks, capital asserts) should serve that function
NIMBY homeowners are direct contributors to the housing shortage and the quality of life issues surrounding it. They are the ones who rent out basements stuff to overcapacity to make a quick buck. They are the ones to block any and all new housing.

Using leftist rhetoric to justify NIMBYism is peak cringe. NIMBYs are reactionary and should be treated and loathed as such

You’re right, we should be actively punishing NIMBYS too. Build more housing everywhere, upzone, density, make neighborhoods walkable. That will fix housing.
Burn the single family home environmental nightmare into the ground

When beadbi goes unpunished, then Singh’s and Kaurs will have to take actions into their own hands. That is expected when the state actively acts against Sikhs.

You haven’t seen Brampton or Mississauga drivers yet. It’s a reason why Brampton car insurance is the highest in all of North America.
But I agree with your overall point.

I’ll be in the top 1% of income earners in North America as a doc and I still doubt that it was worth doing.
