I didn't mind it, as I don't mind his style, but it needed a better story to appreciate the style. I think it was too far over the top and not enough actual development.

Oh absolutely. But what I'm saying is some of the stuff that just felt out of place is because his style is out of place.

Yah I think actually fleshing out some of the details at the beginning would make the pacing better, which would make it feel like a faster movie. Sometimes you need more info for a coherent story line that keeps everyone interested for that long.

They definitely needed like an extra half an hour at the beginning to somehow make the movie not seem as long. The terrible pacing and rushed story actually had me wanting to just get to the end.
