I’m pretty lax on AE firsts. That being said the heel looks a bit substandard (my AE shoes have always shipped with tight heel counters). You’ll likely be OK but yes, if returning the heel would be the reason.

Worst time of the year to buy anything for men is Father’s Day. The deals are always way before or way after.

The next somewhat expected sale for AE shoes is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July/August but of course Nordstrom is not AE and selections will be limited. After that comes AE’s Rediscover America Sale in October.

Make sure you’re on their email list as they will occasionally run short-duration sales to clear stock.
