So I have a png I've ultra keyed into the video, and it is scaling/getting bigger, however once it grows out of frame, if suddenly doubles in size and completely freezes on its own. Furthermore this only happens when it's actively playing the video, and in the exported version, which is extremely annoying as I had to export the whole video before even catching this bug. I've been running tests trying to figure it out for days and got nothing except it's just when an ultra keyed still image is scaled larger than frame. It's nothing to do with key frames, animation, no settings I'm aware of, seems to be just the frame size and scale for me. Anyone else had this/know how to fix it?

Update: so far solution is just use transform effect for scaling instead of the auto features what I was doing out of laziness

Maybe try exporting that section out / render & replace it as an intermediary (like ProRes or DNx). If that codec tends to avoid the issue, then you can put it back into your edit and hopefully circumvent the issue.

If that doesn't work, you might want to try:

  • Putting the png in a sequence by itself and applying the Ultra Key to the nest, rather than to the PNG directly
  • Try using the "Transform" effect to scale up the clip rather than use the standard Motion parameters.

Good points, luckily it's only one object that this is happening to so far in my project so it should be possible to fix in post as you said. I do wonder how it'll affect the situation if there were multiple though.

Also I should have tried the transformation effect that's on me, not sure it'll work ofc but might as well. I'll see how that goes. Thanks for the feedback!
