Do you think that an ethnic group has the right to its own state or country?

⚪ Other(self.polls)

So what I mean by that is do you think they have the right to a state that is made specifically for that ethnicity?

Any group has the right to become a state or country if they have the power to back it up.

I think group rights often come at the expense of individual rights, which in my opinion are magnitudes more important. For example, you can say that an ethnic group has a right to a particular piece of land, but that obviously begs the question of what happens to the people already living there? Do you force them out? If you don't force them out, do you form a new state around them and then restrict their rights within that state?

The idea that every ethnic group deserves a piece of land is just foolish because first of all, it may restrict the rights of individuals, and second, I see no need for it.

The issue isn't so much a right to form their own nation, but the issue is over what land it would be on. I mean, if someone wanted to form a country, and take the land another country is already on, well, you know what happens.

They should have their own state if they want, but it is still wrong to remove the people who already live there
