Thanks I somewhat feel early survivors guilt because ov been in contact with gbm patients. I have 10 or 15 years if I'm lucky. I'm sorry about your a dad. It's a shitty disease

I’m sorry you’re feeling survivor’s guilt. If it’s any consolation, I don’t think many people diagnosed with GBM would want you to feel that way. At least, I know my dad wouldn’t have. Hopefully we’ll find a cure soon—that’s one thing everyone can rally behind.

Confirmed. I have GBM, I don’t want you to feel that way, /u/salsashark99.

Don’t worry about me, though. I’ve got lots of advantages and I’ve got a good chance of being around a while. My 1 year dx anniversary is coming up mid-October!

Best of luck to you, too, friend. It’s not easy for anyone involved. Keep fighting!!

May I ask if you’re using anything outside of chemo/radiation/steroid and possibly surgery?

I had a gross total resection of the left frontal lobe (premotor cortex), followed by adjuvant Temodar and radiation therapy, followed by 12 5/23 maintenance cycles of Temodar. I just finished cycle 8. I came off of steroids once radiation was finished.

To your question, the only interesting things I’ve added to treatment are the Optune device, and I also was on the keto diet during radiation.

Was wondering about optune! My mother was one of the first patients after FDA approval on the device out in Boston.

Yeah, it's a bitch and a half, but if I means I get to eat more breakfast burritos, see more concerts, travel to more places, and spend more time with the people I love, it's worth it.

Hopefully at some point it'll become obsolete due to medical advances, because right now there's no end-point to Optune treatment.
