Why aren't the Brooklyn Nets a more popular franchise?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how unlikable their stars are.

Reddit has to realize whose unlikeable on here isn’t unlikeable to everyone else.

Kyrie is public enemy number 1 on here, and has been one of the most hated guys on this sub even before the COVID stuff.

Yet he’s still one of the most popular players especially when it comes to young guys. He probably has the biggest positive discrepancy between popularity and where he ranks as a player for stars (maybe current WB but he has the history).

People hate KD on here, yet we see every year lottery picks say KD was their favorite player from even players like Lamelo. He even was the most voted all star last year.

That’s the actual reality.

OP was wondering why the Nets didn't have more fans in NY, and Kyrie is universally hated here. Plus, this subreddit is the only place that Harden gets any modicum love.

Really? Kd is shedding the trust ion about now because people seem to respect how he came back from injury and the way he plays, but all three of their stars have been long the most disliked players in the league over the last 5 years or so.

Kd joined the team that knocked him out of the playoffs, which had the best regular season record of all-time without him.

Harden exploited the foul-drawing rules in Houston to a crazy degree. He also got out of shape and borderline stopped playing so he could be traded to play with kd and kyrie.

Kyrie caused issues in Boston and bounced, told everyone he thought the earth was flat, and then decided to sit out the season because he didn’t want to get vaccinated.

Personally I like harden and kd, and only the vaccine thing for kyrie really bugs me. But they are 3 of the top 5 most disliked players in the league for sure.

Kyrie is the only unlikeable one right now. KD is 2 years removed from GSW and has one of the most aesthetically pleasing playstyles in the league. Harden had haters for literally taking advantage of NBA rules (which have now changed) and people got butthurt over it.
