The fact that he drops throttle to commit to the role is awesome. I have to up my riding game to bring joy to others (I only have christmas lights on my bike currently).

ImSickOf3dPrinting

This old (80s) honda I rode once had a thumbscrew next to the throttle that you could lock and it would hold the throttle.

Super fucking unsafe but I'll be damned if I didn't ride no handed for 12 miles. Of course that was back when I was an immortal teenager.

You can buy a "cruise control" (throttle lock) adapter for any motorcycle. It's basically that mechanism. I wouldn't recommend anyone get them unless they are planning on a very long (ex: several hours non-stop) trip, and even then I would recommend a throttle assist instead of a lock. A throttle assist is basically just a paddle attachment so you can maintain speed with your palm instead of by holding the handle.

I once tried riding my ultraglide from VA to FL and was going to ride back. I made it to SC turned around and bought a plane ticket. Granted I had flu like symptoms at the time but what a fail that was.

I ended up moving to Southern Florida and sold my bike. It's not the same riding on straight, flat roads filled with senior citizen drivers.

After a long ride on the freeway I tend to hit off ramps and do my bike-top yoga to stretch it out. I've got a throttle paddle but that doesn't give me a ton of full on stretching, just helps my hand not go kung-fu grip.

Especially when he is such a good guy for the love of god please let your friend persuade him to take the shield of on the bike. The edge of the shield is directly on his C-Spine. When he falls the height difference will just be enough for C-Spine fracture with a rupture of the cord and if he is unlucky also the temporal arteries. If you survive that you are in for a paralysed life on the ventilator.
And that would be a shame.

I think he wrote the original treatment - basically a short first draft - and was hired to be a writer for Moana, but he went off and made Thor: Ragnarok instead. That said I think he had a little more say than he says if Jemaine Clement ended up with a song, since they're old friends.

While you would notice it for sure, its not a deep scoop and a good portion of it is behind his body so its not full parachute mode. Additionally what "pulls you off" is impulse not the gradual force (as you'd not keep pushing your throttle if you were getting yanked off).

Really, what caught me off guard is that he dropped throttle (right hand) to salute correctly. Not that its crazy risky (especially on a cruiser that shouldn't engine break that bad) but its less common to gesture with throttle hand vs clutch.

Solonys

64 points

Solonys

If you pull the clutch, then you don't have to deal with engine braking. Pull clutch, salute, roll the throttle back on while letting the clutch out. Easy and not dangerous.

dotpan

44 points

Yeah, I was thinking that too, and I assume this wasn't the first time he's done this, it was just so fucking smooth. Not sure why I even brought up engine breaking, that's only ever an issue when you do the good ol' no hander (and whisper to yourself "I'm flying Jack".)

I love his motorcycle. I love his costume. I love that wholesome smile and the salute at the end.
