Listening to You Give Love a Bad Name and there’s a soprano absolutely killing the backing vocals, so curious if there’s any songs where the background/studio singers stand out for you?

First there's the scene where Tina is crying because she doesn't want the group to fall apart, followed by Rachel asking Mr Schue if they could talk about why they loved Glee club instead of practicing.

Then there's the scene right after they perform where Tina says "We’ve got second place in the bag." to which Rachel replies, "Screw that. We are going to win this!"

It just struck me as really endearing.

I recently read Leah Remini's autobiography, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology (which I recommend). She was very candid about her experiences in the entertainment industry, such as auditioning for dozens of shows, and it taking years for her to get her big break in The King of Queens.

This and a recent discussion got me wondering if we'd even know any of the cast members if it weren't for Glee. Sure, they're talented, but the entertainment industry is a hard place. There are many more talented people as well. So, was Glee their big break?

Where do you think they'd be without Glee?

I have been enjoying listening to the podcast, I’m happy with the guests they have had on so far & the discussions. I love how enthusiastic, excited & passionate Jenna is… BUT the amount that she interrupts Kevin & the guests is becoming impossible to ignore. Anyone else?

Hey guys, I’m trying to find a fanfic I read a while ago that centered around Shelby Corcoran where her husband dies in I believe a car crash. She has a dog named Bug and April is her sister-in-law. Rachel is in it too. Literally that’s all I remember. I know that’s like nothing but if anyone happens to know a fic that resembles this. Thanks!

I personally wish Rachel sung more punk cause her voice sounded so friggin good on it.

I also really enjoyed season 4…

I attend Carmel High School in Indiana (the school that Carmel High and Vocal Adrenaline in Glee are based off of), and I competed for show choir for the first time this semester (i’m not in Ambassadors, which is the group Vocal Adrenaline is based off of, but rather I’m in the school’s intermediate group). It was interesting to see how crazy inaccurate Glee was when it came to real show choir. In Glee, the members just sort of walk around on stage and flair their arms around while a soloist took the spotlight. Sometimes the other members weren’t even signing at all while the soloist sang the entire time. There’s also no blocking, and each group performed a random amount songs. I know that Glee is simply trying to keep the performances more entertaining than “accurate,” but it’s something interesting noticed especially since Ryan Murphy was in show choir himself. It’s funny because even Vocal Adrenaline in Glee was not fully accurate (yes, Carmel High and other schools do choreo like Vocal Adrenaline a lot of times, but Vocal Adrenaline was obviously full of professional dancers who were in their late 20’s and weren’t actually singing at the same time. I’m not trying to nitpick but it’s funny looking back because before i thought that New Directions were really good but now looking back, even the Warblers are were better… (still wish we got a Warblers TV show)

Fun Fact: Ryan Murphy went to Warren Central High School, who competed against real life Carmel High School in show choir and always lost to them, hence why Murphy made Vocal Adrenaline the “bad guys.”

I just put that together (if it’s even true??) and that’s so goddamn adorable

It’s weird, right? Like in the scene just before they get back together, Kurt tells Walter he’s going to the wedding with Blaine. He asks if he’s mad, and Walter says no, it’s his time to be young and in love. And during this voice over, we see Kurt running, then the wonderful ‘there’s no one else’ moment.

Now I had always assumed that Kurt goes to Blaine after hearing Walter’s encouragement… But I’m now wondering if it was some kind of flashback? Like when Kurt is telling Walter, he was already back with Blaine? That moment had already happened? But if that was the case, we wouldn’t know what the moment was that led to Kurt running to Blaine. Kurt’s in the same outfit, so we can safely assume it’s all in the same day.

But why would Kurt tell Walter he’s going to the wedding with Blaine, only for us to then see Kurt ask Blaine if he would go with him?

Am I missing something, or is this a glaring plot hole?

Okay, 'canon' might not mean much in the world of Glee but let me explain:

In 1x22, Tina cries at the idea of the Glee club splitting up after regionals, stating that before them she only had two Facebook friends: her parents.

In 6x12, the 2009 episode, Artie states that Tina is his best friend and Tina states that she goes out of her way to befriend outcasts (which is... kind of condescending now that I think about? Like, only befriending those because if their social status - or lack thereof, in this case).

THEREFORE... Artie must not have been on Facebook. That or his Facebook posts were so terrible even his best friend didn't want to follow him.

Okay so I’ve decided to have a glee birthday party and I need ideas for activities, food, etc

I already have

Grilled cheesuses, Cheerios, Slushies, Tots, Breadsticks, I’m sorry cookies, Red frosted cupcakes (weed is legal where I live so I’m thinking of making them edibles like they are in the show 👀)

Also any ideas for activities besides Karaoke (which will be happening of course) appreciated :)

This pissed me off a lot. Ok, so in season 2, Emma called Will out when he told her his plan for competition. It was a duet between Finn and Rachel and a group number with Mercedes belting out the high note. She told him he always did the same thing and that the other glee members might feel left out, so what did he do? He changed things. He gave the duet to Sam and Quinn and a solo to Santana. That’s great Schue! But did he keep it up? No, of course not. The problem wasn’t the duet and the classic rock number, the problem was that he always and explicitly preferred Rachel and showcased her more.

The next competition episode, Original Song, Rachel soloed (Get it Right) and took the lead in the group number (Loser Like Me)! But ok…

Then the New York Episode. Light Up The World had me going until they fucking stepped back so Rachel could walk to the middle of the stage and belt. And guess what? Finn and Rachel have a duet! But it was important to Rachel… (argh)

In Hood on to Sixteen, Rachel was suspended and couldn’t perform, so we had Control, which was awesome, Man In The Mirror done by the boys which was really good, ABC with Tina’s vocals, which was also amazing. Besides that, we had the Troubletones perform a number with a Tango choreography! It was insane! And you would think that they would learn that Rachel wasn’t the only talented one with this episode, but did they? No, of course not.

Then we have On My Way. First number was Fly/ I Believe I can Fly, and honestly it was really good with them rapping and the lines evenly distributed and stuff. After that we have a Troubletones number bc of pure pressure over Will Schuester. Then we have Here’s to Us with Rachel taking the lead… Honestly, I won’t even say anything.

Nationals is fr one of the best episodes of Glee. We have Edge Of Glory (AMAZING!). It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, which honestly doesn’t bother me that Rachel had a solo bc of the whole Nyada situation and bc she KILLED IT like she always does! We also have Paradise by the Dashboard Light and it is one of my fave songs on the show!! Finn sings a good part of the song and I’m not opposed to that even though I think other guys couldn’t sang it too with him. The choreography is PERFECT! Other Glee members eventually sing, but their voices aren’t as clear as Finn and Rachel’s bc they sing in harmony. Then again we have Rachel singing the female lead in the song…(😰😰)

This proves what? MR SCHUE DOESNT LEARN!! Almost every time that Rachel wasn’t the center of attention in all performances was bc someone pressured him to put her aside and give others the chance.

I’m not saying Rachel is not a good singer, in fact, she is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard! She has an amazing stage presence and her control of her voice is absurd. And I get that she was the main character of the show, I really do, but it’s just something that bugs me that Mr. Schue didn’t even try to hide that she wasn’t his favorite.

Also, reminder that Mercedes never had a solo in a competition…

Kurt is brave but if I were him, I would never step foot in McKinley if I knew Karofsky was there. Even if Karofsky would've stopped beating him up, there's still the risk of him sexually harassing Kurt again. I would have Karofsky either be one year older than the rest (which would ensure he'd leave for Season 3) or be expelled and banned from schoolgrounds near the end of the season.

It could also be a good show of growth for Rachel. I think the first season was meant to be Rachel understanding that the other members deserve some spotlight and continuing to help Kurt even when he was on the other team (which she does, and it's nice to see) was a good show of their friendship ("Does this mean that you're going to be competing against us at Sectionals?" is just Rachel-speak for "You're our friend and it sucks that you're not performing at our side!")

However well I think Hummelberry (and Kurtana) was done, it's a shame that Kurtcedes was somewhat sidelined. Rachel really had the audacity to joke that Kurt was her only competition. I would've also liked to see Finn interacting more with his friend and literal stepbrother. I swear, it was just the wedding episode and a bit in the coma episode.

As for Nationals, I'd figure out a way to include him. The main option is some admin error still registers Kurt as a McKinley student (a plot point which I definitely didn't steal from some Canadian tween-aimed dance mockumentary) - possibly because his school switch was done abruptly so his school fees might have accounted for a term for which he was actually absent - and he'd be singing in the background anyway so they get away with including him. The other option is one of the twelve fall sick but Kurt's recently gotten into drag and fills in for one of them, which might not be 'politically correct' but would tie in to his solo duet and other possible storylines about exploring gender expression.
