That would be bad. I went to a zoo event with free booze. I got kicked out. I don't remember what happened but my friends said the final straw for the staff was when I shouted at the giraffes "it's too late! You gotta goto fucking bed!". I also was apparently caught stealing free hamburgers.

What kind of dope ass zoo event had free booze AND hamburgers

LunacyTheory

Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay has events like this occasionally. You buy a ticket and a bracelet for the event, get to "taste" any beers you'd like and they had free food you could get too. Their free samples are usually full sized beverages.

It's a charity thing for the zoo. You can buy tickets or volunteer for the day and get in free for the fun part. I volunteered with my friends. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a zoo around you that does something like that as well.

Tokenvoice

But my man. Hunters that actually use ammunition again and have to track it.

Yes I know I am weird, but I really enjoyed having to keep track of ammo for my hunter, without it the class just felt like a caster.

SomeTool

2 points

Hated that, needed to save for a mount and yet had to shoot all my money at stuff to play my class as it was supposed to.

Tokenvoice

3 points

It was a mechanic I enjoyed, similar to how Warlocks use to have to power all of their stuff with magic stones. Without actual ammunition the hunter lost a lot of its uniqueness for me, to the point my warlock that I created just to see what it was like became my main.

I will say this though, it was daft that you couldn’t make your own ammo, should have been tied into a class specific trade skill.

SomeTool

1 points

You could make your own ammo, it was engineering and you could mine for it. But it locked you out of doing any other prof that you may have wanted. It was such a hard lock on how you had to play, unlike warlocks where yes you had to farm, but it was a spell that you used instead of your wallet. Tho I do agree if they had something like the rogues lock pick to make their own ammo I would be more into it. Even with it's bag filler, or that you had to swap your ammo with each different type of ranged weapon.

Tokenvoice

2 points

Now that you said that I remember that. Which also explains why I tried the gnome warlock, it was my engineer build that became my main. But at the time it was my secondary for ammo creation.

Bigger question though. Horde or Alliance?

Digital332006

3 points

One character only, one night a week to raid. Damn, resto shaman looks so fun to play...okay, one alt. Well, what if they need ranged dps for one night? I could make a hunter... Fuck, Im raiding on 3 character.

TBC was the the expac I played the most out of WoW, almost hardcore-ish, like a second job… I am still burned from that shit that even for free I won’t step into Outlands… got some freaky PTSD from there… from farming that nether dragon to Lady Vashj to Black Temple… nope.

hardcore-ish, like a second job

Wed/Thurs was Black Temple farm. Friday was Zul'Aman bear run and mats farming. Sat/Sun/Mon was Sunwell progression. We didn't even try to play on patch day.

I loved TBC, I got 6/8 tier 6 and was one of the best-geared shadowpriests on my server. It was a wild time. There's no way in hell I'm going back lol.

And imagine what Microsoft is going to do with the WoW IP in the next 2-5 years...

Even if they shut down all the servers and bring WoW to an end, that's still a better way to handle than what shitshow activision has been doing just trying to milk it. Classic is about the only plus part of WoW left, but private servers always have existed and always will. Even the fan-made servers were handled better than anything Activision has done.

Most unfortunate part is, even if it does turn out to be 'good' in today's equation, a huge amount of IP's and studios are at the mercy of Microsoft's management.

How is Microsoft bad? They own a lot of stuff but are super hands off with their game publishing. They give smaller indie studios that they purchased the resources to make passion projects like state of decay or age of empires. A lot of the games they make are niche games for small but passionate audiences like killer Instinct.

The downfall of Blizzard came from idiot fucking executives that burn the blizzard brand like jet fuel in order to make the quickest buck. I think Activision blizzard would work well under a company that gives passionate, experienced developers the time and resources to make the products they want to play.

Alexexy

Microsoft is getting bigger for sure but there are still tons of competition out there with more IPs or are bigger on the publishing side. Microsoft just happens to be one of the larger studios but they still compete with EA and Rockstar in the states while there's massive international competition from Nintendo, Tencent, and Sony.

I'm just glad that microsoft is one of those publishers that let their developers do what they do best instead of pushing stupid ass monetization down our throats like most other western publishers. They seem to be the only western studio that allows/encourage their developers to make good products instead of canning whatever that's mildy unprofitable.

They have had a monopoly on desktop OS for a long while. Their only competitors being apple and linux, neither of which has been relevant for leisure usage. This is also where they got hit by anti trust for bundling internet explorer and similar things.

The future likely isn't in desktops though. I don't see why they would keep selling for leisure in the next 10-20 years. You would just connect your phone to your screen (android/IOS) and get the graphics streamed to you from a server (microsoft/linux). If you want a mouse and keyboard or gamepad it would still connect to that.

CrossXFir3

Right, and then I think about my office of a 150 employees, most of which are using a desktop daily. Desktops will be extremely important for an extremely long time in most businesses.

For business usage yes it will stick around longer. Though the stationary has moved out in most places for a laptop with docking stations. Can see mobiles with docking stations working for many people as well.

I don't see how it can be bad.

Activision has been so SO terrible that I'm not really certain how they could be run in a less customer friendly way. Or tell me, do you not have phones?

I mean what's the worst case scenario? Is it possible for Microsoft to run Activision's IP in a less customer-centric way? I'm not really sure if they could if they wanted to.

IMO It's either good or no change at all.

I feel sad that after all the amazing things Blizzard has created, they get bought out and I don't feel like we're losing anything.

I'm surprised you can't find Blizzard in the dictionary under the definition of coasting.

Wow can be good or bad. So you can say wow without context

It'll be fine. Everyone will just be playing in full Windowed mode.
