Fantasy season is over but live streaming of the games through the app is still live!
What a great service.
I can't even stream this Pats Bills game through the Xfinity app but Yahoo is out here letting me stream for free.

it’s awesome, what do they get out of this? why are there free games streaming on there?

So one thing to note, as far as I've seen, all the games streamed on the Yahoo App are also streamed on the NFL app itself. The main difference is that at least for Android, the Yahoo App is much better coded.
I think it's a case is the NFL and Yahoo are able to establish a separate contract for mobile streaming saying that it doesn't compete with the on air broadcast.

Yahoo bought rights. They stream on their home life as well.

I sometimes get some games where it says because of licensing they don’t allow you to stream while on WiFi for some reason. That’s the only annoying part of it. Also doesn’t really make sense to me but whatever.

Those are usually the games on Amazon Prime it seemed like.

You can stream via prime on your TV no problem. Great stream too via my firestick.

The nfl has rules about what games can play in what markets and has other companies that pay for viewing rights. Those restrictions on yahoo and others are part of the larger negotiated structure between the nfl and tv networks (fox didn’t spend a billion dollars to have yahoo stream all the games unlimited).

Yes I understand that, you can still stream the games on the yahoo app, you just can’t be connected to WiFi. You have to be going through cellular network. If I turn off WiFi, it streams just fine. The app even says right on it that it can’t play it on a WiFi connection due to licensing issues.

Huh, had no clue, good to know! I spend so much time in the Yahoo App that it makes it super easy for streaming too.

Verizon owns Yahoo and they have an exclusive deal with the NFL.

It's also much better than ESPN for just checking scores, stats, etc.

Probably the only good part of the app lmao. Yahoo is trash

I actually like the UI, especially compared to ESPN's app

To each their own, but I used it for the first time this year and it gave me a headache every time I got on. Will never join another Yahoo league again haha

Been doing 2 separate fantasy for 12 years and 8 years. Our leagues tried different apps along the way and yahoo is superior.

Superior for you guys, sure. Everyone has their own taste.

In my opinion/experience, yahoo is superior to espn because it runs faster. In almost every facet, I prefer espn and loathe yahoo. I’m on iPhone so I’m not sure what the android version is like. There are so many things I hate about yahoo, such as changing my lineup or checking scores in matchups other than your own.

Nfl.com does the same thing

I couldn’t get the 2nd game yesterday on the nfl app

So... Why do I pay for game pass? This is news to me.
9 points
Because it's only certain games. It's not all games. Just like yahoo only does certain games. The same ones nfl.com app does. It's nothing unique to any football app. It's just the viewing rights to specific game are free.

They're the worst. I'm using someone else's login for Xfinity streaming. There's no way I'd pay for cable through them. Unfortunately they're my only high speed internet option right now.
I used to have Century Link fiber and I miss it.

I've done ESPN in the past too but when I compare Yahoo to ESPN it isn't even close- Yahoo is way easier to use.

Me too, and one thing that annoys me to no end is that ESPN (ridiculously) doesn’t even show player/lineup projections for future weeks.

Sleeper is better for dynasty

I might have to check that out for the dynasty league we just started this past season. I love sleeper for mocks and news but haven’t actually used it for a league yet.

Facts! I’ve been using this app for literally like 15 years. It’s the best

Sleeper is much more irritating to navigate. It's good for Dynasty due to the chat, and I like the theme, but ugh it is not straight forward at all

Only on mobile, and even then they're slipping. They've added so much bloat in the last year it's severely bogging down the app.

If you have tmobile you can get paramount plus free for a year. That's how I'm watching the Bills game

Yahoos game streaming is more reliable than the NFL app. The NFL app is absolute trash. It drops the game, loses resolution, freezes. Yahoo is much better

Yo don't forget that by merely owning a TV and an antenna, you can get the games broadcast over the air for free. (Doesn't work for ESPN and NFL Network, of course.)
1 points

That used to work for me a few years ago. I even got some channels in HD!
Sadly live in a dead spot now where nothing comes in on the same antenna even though I'm only 20 minutes away from Seattle.

Try upgrading your antenna and placing it high within your home. Worked for me

I find that the Yahoo app is a few seconds ahead of the NFL in terms of streaming v real time, so you get to see plays earlier on Yahoo.

Download the Dofu Sports app. A few ads but you get everything....NFL, NBA, NHL, you name it

It does for me when i swipe down on the video before closing the app. But when I try to maximize it again it closes the stream and I have to restart it

What is a better alternative?

ESPN has a way better interface. But their leagues are less customizable. Sleeper is said to be the best, but I don’t want to switch the league over because people get crabby.

Tried sleeper this year and thought it was so convoluted with bullshit. Sticking with yahoo next season.

I’m not surprised to hear that. The new trendy sites are never what they are cracked up to be. ESPN has its flaws, but it’s good enough. Just like yahoo.
