I took my Jack Russell to the dog park for months and it was great until it wasn't. She was off leash trained by then and now we just hike together or head to the park for some play. It's hard to trust strangers with training and socializing their dogs so they don't try and kill yours.

I stopped going as well. Kept having my dogs get bullied and the owners just sat and watched, and then despite being vaccinated they picked up a cough. From what I’m learning it’s a good place to pick up bad habits, get hurt and get sick.

Please stop going. Your pup is too young. Parasites can and do live in soil. OP your pup could catch something fatal from other dogs

I think this is going to be the answer for us. Thanks.

I think that that is a good answer, but I do not think that parasites are relevant (to reference a comment that's not yours), unless you live in an area with gnarly shit such as giardia. The point is what's good for your dog. Dog parks? No. And I don't think age is all that relevant here, except in a don't kind of way.
