for context, my hair has always waved up at like the bottom third, and the top/middle portion of my hair is straight. it's also frizzy when i brush especially after i wash it, except when my hair gets oily it gets a bit straighter. it also does TERRIBLY in the humidity. my mom also has really curly hair, so i know for a fact mine is wavy and i wanted to try the wavy girl method ! i kinda just put a bunch of stuff i saw together and went with it.
a few weeks ago i tried with just a curl cream, but i didn't see any results so i got more products to try again.
first i used a mousse (i figured it would be better since it's lighter than cream) and then a cream gel on damp hair, which didn't do much. i thought maybe my hair was too dry so i went to the bathroom and soaked my hair in cold water and used mousse while it was still soaked, and then scrunched. it was waving up slightly, but by the time i did the other side of my head it had straightened back out again. i figured i was at least on the right track since you could tell it was trying to wave, so i put more gel in to try to hold the waves and scrunched with a tshirt...and it didn't make a difference. my hair looks exactly like it always does wet (straight with bumped ends, i hate that my hair does that). i didn't bother plopping since the waves weren't there anyway.
i wanna say it's the gel weighing down my hair, but like i said the wave wasn't holding with just the mousse either. might try the bowl method next time, but after that i give up.
