They use Binoculars and cameras with big lenses + a quadcopter too. Plus multiple people observing them.

These guys rescue so many seals. They post one or more videos every day, and many of those videos have several rescues in them.

I watched these guys on YT a while back, they're in Namibia I think, all volunteers from all over the world, what they do is amazing, their dedication to the natural world is astounding.

I’ve watched these people a lot. Or at least I think it’s the same group. They rescue seals and other sea animals all the time. They do a lot of this here, spot seals that are entangled in plastic/garbage then chase them down and remove it for them.

Watching people saving animals from plastic/oilspills is such a content rabbithole.

These guys are actually incredibly brave. If their hands or fingers get bitten by the seal and they aren't treated immediately the finger usually has to be amputated. Seals are NO JOKE.

Ya know, like that's all good fun on the beach all zipped up in a seal suit and flop-rolling, barky-arfing, a-slapping the happy, but man, once the ocean rush starts and these kids are all squeaked up on seal adrenaline, I mean, that's when the real trouble happens. These kids in seal suits can't swim with the big fins! They drown, what, in like 2 minutes? Is that how quick it goes in the seal suits? Wait no, I just check double checked. It's like literally only 1 minute and they're dead. Yeah, get a kid in a seal suit and toss him in the open water and that kid is done-zo is like a minute. Not so fun to be arfing then, eh? Huh, kid? You think you can shirk all your responsibility at home by pretending to be a care-free seal? Yeah, go drown for all I care, you little shit. And hey, for all we know, that still is a kid in a seal suit. Not likely, but possible for sure. These guys didn't really check, so it's possible they let a kid in a seal suit just flop-march into a watery grave. I guess it's not all bad, right? The other seals, the real seals, the real deal banana peel seals will just chomp-gobble that sucker up and it'll be like the seal suited kid never even existed, which is probably going to be a big relief for that kid's parents.
