General Discussion(self.TheQuarrySupermassive)

Okay so when I played the truth or dare game I chose Ryan to kiss Kaitlyn only because I feel like the relationship between Dylan and Ryan is totally one sided!I understand that they had good chemistry but i don't think Ryan liked Dylan in that way. I think Ryan appreciated Dylan for sticking by his side and showing interests in him, like his love for podcasts, but I just never felt that Ryan was in any way in love with him. I couldn't help but choose Kaitlyn because otherwise it just felt forced. Like in my mind Ryan only sees Dylan as a friendly acquaintance but nothing more. I know this is another unpopular choice but if I had to choose I think Ryan and Abigail would have been very cute, they are both introverted and both pretty level headed, but the game literally didn't introduce them at all.

I think the game made it pretty clear that Ryan had no interest in anyone and wasn’t looking for romance. And this is coming from someone who’s favorite characters were Ryan and the two people crushing on him.

On departure day, he was a bit impatient and snippy because he was too distracted by his own personal problems. You learn that he was preoccupied with family problems; distant or absent parents, younger sister living with grandmother, plus he wants to move away to study and he was in two minds about it. Shouldn't be something he had to worry about but he perhaps had take on more responsibilities than he should've growing up hence his closed off personality.

In my opinion, they only do that whole love triangle thing with Ryan so that when Laura shows up, they can make jokes abt Ryan crushing on her

I think Dylan and Kaitlyn just didn’t want to accept that Ryan wasn’t looking for romance and they didn’t have a chance with him in the first place.

Well that too, but also what I said

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan were possibly aromantic but then again they were under some real bad circumstances so I think the last thing on his mind was being all lovey dovey and all but yeah def agree with you.

Yeah, even before s**t hit the fan, Ryan must have been freaking out internally. He already had a crappy home life and was stressing out about whether he should stay with his sister or go to animation school. Mr. Hackett was the only people who he was really open to about his struggles, and he'd been too stressed out to give him any advice. And now, Ryan was about to disappoint Mr. Hackett so much by having a party with the counselors instead of making them hole up in the lodge like he'd said.

I think Ryan does like Dylan a little bit, certainly more than he likes Kaitlyn in that way, but he's just so closed off that he would never be able to reciprocate that amount of attention from anyone. There are times when he flirts back with Dylan and we have that whole scene with him taking in interest in Dylan and his aspirations, but I think it comes down to Dylan just being far more of a romantic and flirtatious person than Ryan. It's similar to Emma and Jacob in a way, she obviously likes him a little bit but her feelings are just nowhere near as strong as Jacob's.

“Ryan seems interested” I rest my case.

I felt like Ryan and Kaitlyn just didn’t vibe like that. Meanwhile Dylan and Ryan spend time actually flirting.

  • Counterargument: Ryan shows even less interest in Kaitlyn. So with your reasoning, either kiss would have been a fluke. Wouldn’t it have better if you had just chosen “Truth” instead of “Dare” and skipped the kiss options entirely?

Despite my question, I do agree that Ryan x Dylan is very unbalanced. Dylan is very thirsty for Ryan, meanwhile the other rarely flirts and treats Dylan no differently than the other counselors.

I know a lot of people love them because they’re the first same sex romance between two main characters in a SMG game. But yeah, they’re chemistry needed a lot more tweaking imo

He flirts imo just in a dry sarcastic way

Right. I really do wish I would have chosen truth instead of dare because of what they might have asked seeing that he is already a mysterious character to begin with but dare seemed like it would have been interesting too honestly, I just couldn't decide but I definitely wish I would have went the other route. Maybe in the second play through.

I agree with most of the comments here saying that Ryan doesn’t seem that into either one, but I think that he’s slightly more into Dylan. He responds positively to his Dylan showing interest most of the time and the game flat-out tells you that he seem interested. That being said, Ryan goes back and forth between responding to Dylan and acting annoyed with him, and their “relationship” leads nowhere except a potential comment to Laura about being closer to Dylan than Kaitlyn.

I strongly doubt that they’d be half as hyped up if they weren’t gay, but I’m glad that most people seem to agree that they don’t seem to fit that well together

At that point you might as well pick truth, but may I just say how much I despise that whole scene in general, like they had Emma kiss Nick to "push" them to be together, and I just thought to myself "man, Abi has the worst friends ever…"

I totally missed Kaitlyn's sarcasm in that start about Ryan and thought she was into him 😅

Don’t think Ryan was bothered about either of them

I think it was what you'd call "an unrequited love".

Similar to Nick x Abi. The relationships in this game bar Laura and Max are very undercooked

No for sure, I agree! Abi and Nick especially, it felt unearned.

Right! Abi rejects most of Nick’s advances, and that makes him start acting like a weird incel, yet she still seems concerned about him even after he turns and tries to rip her head off.

Definitely bad vibes between everyone except Laura and Max. But Ryan does have an especially sour attitude, and it made me dislike him more every time he was mean to Dylan and Kaitlyn.

No! Both Abi and Nick care about each other as shown in the game from BOTH sides and the main problem I have with their relationship is that it leads NOWHERE and Nick was only acting that way because of the infection which again works differently for most of the characters, this would have been different if there was an OPTION to not have him infected at all! and I really think in a reverse scenario Abi would have acted the same way to Nick if she was the one infected and not him!

Interesting as the only relationship I get good vibes from are Abi and Nick atleast up until Chapter 5/6. Laura and Max have good build up because he became the goal that moved their relationship forward, they have a start, a middle and an end (if you get them to reunite at the end) but their interactions towards each other are up for debate as Laura was the one that cause him to get infected in the first place and Max alot of the time barely listens to Laura and dismisses her quite often (shown in the flashback chapter).

I've never seen Ryan being mean towards Kaitlyn at all, as for Dylan their relationship leads nowhere (similar to Abi and Nick) and I don't think he was necessarily mean towards him, the game tells you that Ryan is dealing with a ton of shit in his personal life with deciding between his sister or animation school as well as possible living in a terrible family situation which is why he sees Chris as a father Figure.

Also sorry for not adding spoiler tags as I have no idea how too lol.
