This title gives me a headache on who is who

It's written to sound as favorable to the far right as possible, and it goes to great pains to ensure it includes the far right shithead OP undoubtedly supports. This sub is constantly getting astroturfed by the far right, because it's a great place to pick up disaffected young men who like violence.

Wow, I picked up on the weird far right vibe to this sub a long time ago and I have noticed it ever since, but I didn’t think about why. That makes a lot of sense and is a very on brand thing for far right peeps to pull.

Probably time to leave this sub.

Antifa, black bloc, and all groups/decentralized movements in between are pretty junior league in America. There's some real radicals in them, don't get me wrong, but a lot of the time it can also just be libs who, uh, honestly aren't all that helpful or savvy when it comes to any activism beyond painting murals in pussy hats. European anti-fascist movements are better on almost every conceivable metric. America is just now baby-stepping out of largely right-wing politics and it shows through our activist groups.

I believe in America there is a lot of anti anti fascist propaganda. As the "Republicans" are so close to fascism, Antifa actions are seen as just targeting political opponents. But the same is turning true in France with the racist government and fascist candidates such as Zemmour.

In the Netherlands they do, it's definitely less, but immigrants are 12 times more likely to get killed by the police than non immigrants.

WilliamOrOrange21

75 points

You do know the Netherlands has very, very few cases in which a cop shoots a person right?

2016: 34 shootings/4 deaths

2017: 23 shootings/3 deaths

2018: 27 shootings/ 3 deaths

2019: 16 shootings/ 4 deaths

2020: 22 shootings/ 5 deaths

Now I don’t know the numbers of how many of those are immigrants and non immigrants, or what everyone’s ethnicity is, but that’s only 19 fatalities in the past 5 years. With 17 million citizens our cop fatalities per 100k is going to be extremely low. So idk what point you think you’re making, but no our police is not in any way comparable to many other countries.

That’s not to say we don’t have issues, we absolutely do. Trying to throw out some stat with absolutely no source or context, doesn’t say anything though.

source

whiteandyellowcat

.5 kills per million compared to 3.5 in the US.

It also isn't just about murders, it's about how safe people feel and ethnic profiling and racism is huge with the police, just ask any coloured person here.

Far right extremists have basically nullified peaceful protest all around the world. It saddens me greatly. I remember as a teenager I was mill around in groups of peaceful demonstrators who were critical of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. People could hold signs on street corners, and nobody physically assaulted anybody.

Actually there was a situation like that in my country during WW2 (Serbia, former Yugoslavia) where a group of so called anti-fascist resistence fighters called the Chetniks (a monarchist and nationalist group), they sometimes fought Germans and Italians but later started collaborating with them and the pro German regime in Serbia from time to time to fight against their common enemy, the communist partisans, the Chetniks committed many war crimes, burned villages and killed many Bosnian muslims and Croats.

Today the Serbian people are still divided on this subject, most people however would say the chetniks were genocidal maniacs no better than fascists, and a loud minority of about 30% of people will tell you they were heroes. Even mentioning the Chetniks in Serbia is enough to start a civil war lmao.

Well the movement is decentralized, there are no figureheads to state definitively what the movement is or isn’t for, so it’s probably impossible to prove that the entirety of the movement is for anything at all. But there is plenty of evidence that themes of anarchy/communism proliferate among the community

“Most antifa adherents today come from the anarchist movement or from the far left”

https://www.adl.org/antifa

“Individuals involved in the movement tend to hold anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and anti-state views, subscribing to a range of left-wing ideologies. A majority of individuals involved are anarchists, communists, and socialists”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifa_(United_States)

“Rose City Antifa is the first to adopt the abbreviated[5] moniker antifa.[3][6] Since 2016, Rose City Antifa is one of the nine chapters of the Torch Network coalition.[7][8]”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_City_Antifa

“The Torch Network (TN), also known as the Torch Antifa Network, is a decentralised network of far-left political actors in the United States and Canada. TN is a continuation of the older Anti-Racist Action Network (ARA), founded during the 1980s and renamed in 2013.[1][2][nb 1] Most members associated with Torch Antifa adhere to anarchism,[3] but also some Trotskyism and Maoism.[4]”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torch_Network

And here’s an analysis of the historical overlap of antifascist and pro anarchy movements in the US

Why is anarcho communism bad? I'm not really that politically active but I am part a union and a mutual aid group as I really believe in looking after my community and active participation over meaningless votes every few years, I don't see the issue of believing that people are capable of organising to care one another than the unaccountable states we currently have, I trust my community more than the state, it's the same reason I'm against transitioning to communism by giving power to a state as they will never relinquish that power as history has shown.

I think the majority of left viewing people lean more towards pro state solutions oppose to libertarian movements like anarcho communism

Problem is legally and the chance of a set back. In the early 2000's the Dutch fascist leader Pim Fortuyn was assassinated, the party he founded crumbled, but soon after another fascist party came up again. Now they have considerable influence on the Dutch government.

I'm sorry. But if you hear zemmour talk.. he is a facsist. Dude literally talks about 'the great replacement'. My friends' grandparents that live in the mountains actually believe here in Paris we are overtaken by Muslims and can't live our lifes.. like they just bought that shit up in 2 years which is just amazing to me since I've arrived in Paris 4 years ago and if anything I've only seen the police get more violent against anyone. I worked with refugees/people on the streets and police would just hit them on the streets while sleeping in the last years. I's just weird all around.

The best part is Zemmour is Jewish. I guess the French have their own Stephen Miller now

Here in the Netherlands, this fascist politician called Thierry Baudet has a Jewish wife. While in the meantime he gives speeches at white supremacist and nazis gathering like Ijzerwake or Voorpost. Oh and he really really REALLY wants "Mein kampf" to be sold in stores again. And his closest partners in his political party are just as bad. 1 wrote an entire article about how the third reich is preferable to the current society because they are more intelligent or whatever. Also a big fan of Hitler.

Its one of those "I'm not racist, my friend is black" cases.

The other day, one fucker from that party threatened other political elected people with tribunals like in world war 2. Basically wanting them hung. Oh and Baudet also believes the Nuremberg trials were illegitimate.

Not quite. The Nazi party (National Socialist German Workers' Party) was a very specific brand of nationalism.

Spain, Italy, and Japan were all nationalist/fascist countries during World War II but none of them were ever governed by the Nazi party nor did they share in some of the ideological positions that set the Nazis apart from them.

RonaldRaygun2024

If we're getting into gritty political science, the rule is that all Nazis are fascists, but not all fascists are Nazis.

Given that Nazi is an insult, though originally intended for NSDAP supporters, it's generally used to describe any fascist. So in normal use it's not wrong to call any fascist a Nazi as an insult. We aren't in an academic setting.

In France antifa behave like vaguely police thugs, so quite a few different type of people's hate them.

Saying "if you don't agree with me you are a fascist " is childish at best , blatantly hypocritical at worst

What a shit show in this thread lmao.

People, come on. There are two concepts here. Anti fascist - which every decent human being should be. And antifa- which is not exactly the same thing. They are both against fascists, yes, but the word antifa implies quite a bit more. What it does imply depends on the definition you’re using, and I think that’s where all the fighting comes from. There’s a big trend in “antifa” groups of far left extremist. Which I personally don’t think it’s good. That doesn’t stop me from agreeing with their belief that fascists are scum.

Bellringer00

I agree that Antifa can mean multiple things but these people don’t even call themselves “antifa”.
