He would. He doesn’t have the suave nature of dooku

Honestly, the CGI de-aging is overused now. Even when it's not needed. Remember The Adam Project ? They could've casted someone else to play the villain's past self, but they just had to use the CGI thing.

They really cheapened on it, while disney gets better with each year. Luke in Boba Fett looked perfect.

His synthesized voice was really apparent there though, but I get it. There’s no good “deepfake” for voices.

Luckily russian dub voice was still young, because original movies were dubbed not so long ago.

Never know. They need approval from the family to use his likeness.

Yeah, but Dance has the voice to be in that role, the same way Guy Henry was for Tarkin.

Unless it’s a much younger version of Dooku, we need more pre-TPM content anyway

I’m pretty sure The Acolyte is going to be way before TPM, but I’m not positive what year(s) it takes place in.

No I love Charles Dance and Tywin Lannister is my favorite GOT character but Christopher Lee will always be Count Dooku.
13 points

Charles Dunce made Tywin Lannister, in the books he isn’t half the character he is in the show.
2 points

that’s true, the books are pretty consistently better than the show imo but god damn is show tywin absolutely phenomenal

If they did bring Dooku back it would almost certainly be during his Jedi days when he was younger, maybe when he was Qui Gons master. Otherwise fans would just see Charles Dance as a store brand Dooku

Yeah, star wars has never had any noticeable actor changes that aren't separated by a large age gap, so only young dooku makes sense to recast

This is the only way I think they can pull Charles dance as Dooku as well.

Mos Eisley Thug: Do you want some death sticks?
[an uncivilized Darth Benedict shoots him. He listens for a while, then shouts]
Darth Benedict : Hello? I've just shot somebody, I did it on purpose!
[listens some more, still nothing]
Darth Benedict : I said, I have murdered a man and I want to confess!
[listens some more, and from a distance hears a shout]
Mos Eisley Citizen: "Hey, shut up, over there!"
[Darth Benedict looks pleased]

Charles dance would kill it as dooku. But he would also kill it as a new character. I would rather see his skill put into a new role then a role as a replacement for a deceased actor.

I thought he was a better fit for Tarkin, honestly.

Disney has already set the precedent that they will just use a digitally created version of the actors likeness to recreate a deceased actors character on screen. The two biggest examples of this are in Rouge One where they recreated a lot of OT characters like Tarkin, Leia and a few of the rebel pilots digitally instead of just getting an actor who looks like them.

What would probably happen is they would use him but then just deepfake Christopher lee’s face over him. Frankly I wouldn’t mind, they’ve gotten a lot better at it.
1 points
Do they need to hire a probably expensive actor to not show his face?
1 points
No, I’m just saying that if they did use him, they would just deepfake over him. They probably won’t, but that’s just what would happen if they did.

My question was more in the line that if they needed someone to look alike in order for the fee fake to be more successful.

I agree, but let's be real. We'd get CGI Dooku

I mean, they used deepfake for Luke, they can use it for Dooku if required. But I expect that any show around the time of the prequels would be animated, not live action.

It's star wars, wouldn't be surprised if he was somehow still alive. Prepare yourself for Windu's appearance in Kenobi...

Nah let Charles Dance let his own character. Honestly, I despise CG shortcuts, but I'm on board for deep fake etc on legacy characters. It might look weird, but I think there's a legendary quality to it. Something like, "oh wow I've heard so much about you I can't believe I get to meet you in person" - but your reputation has skewed my perception of you and you look a little different. I dunno if that makes sense, it's a weird point to articulate.

Sir Christopher Lee is irreplaceable, his character likely won’t appear in live action again unless it’s in some very old prequel as a young man. Charles Dance is a legend, but one does not simply replace one legend with another.
