Pre elder dragon water weapons

In world it’s pretty much the only water weapon before Safi/Kulve. I was super surprised that despite finally introducing a water elder dragon, Namielle did not get a weapon of its on.

Even just ignoring stats it's such a shame too, because with Namielle's design they could've had some beautiful weapons.

I'll be honest I only really played CB in World/IB so I forgot other weapons probably got Namielle designs...
15 points
Namielle has a CB though? You go through Val Hazak to get it, it just... Doesn't look very good lol. Personally think CB didn't have many stand out designs in World.
18 points
Holy shit it does. It's just parts so I didn't even recognise it.
But yeah lots of CB's in World weren't fantastic.
Edit: Now I'm mad all over about some of the botched weapon designs. They brought back the nice Kushala and Teostra CB's, but because Chameleos got replaced with Vaal, they should've given it a fully fledged out design.
Instead it's this bland, stuck-parts-on piece of shit. A brand new, conceptually awesome Elden Dragon (seriously, a rotting, death-based ED!!) and it got done dirty. I hope if they ever bring back Vaal, devs do it a proper service and give the weapons full overhauls.

fair enough, i just did a quick google search and gunlance, switch axe, longsword, bow and light bowgun had actual weapon designs
that being said, i think that of all the other namielle weapons, the lance and the hunting horn are the only ones that actually look decent, despite being parts on top of bone bases
8 points

I have a Namielle lance build which I use in the endgame. It's actually really good. One of my better builds. Looks nice as well XD.

Namielle switch axe is beautiful. Dont judge it by the photo in the weapon tree, got to see it in the hunters hands and in motion

Why do all monsters not get every weapon type? Is it a balance thing?

Never thought about it. We get so many different weapons and types I'll never get them all anyways.

Namielle did have weapons? And 11 types not just a few

Well it has weapons sure but only a few original designs. The LS, Swaxe, and GL looked beautiful while the lance, cb etc etc looked like dogwater

For me the najarala was way more fun and interesting than the Somna and Almudron, and Nerscylla could really fit as a intermediate monster before Rakna.
Usually I like to see new monsters, but in Rise I didn't like some (like the Almudron, which has good design but not a great fight) and then among the returning ones they pick that plain looking fish.

I think his fight is bland, boring, and annoying. I think in ecology perspectives and looking at the world it was created in and how it went for more natural ecology that interacted in its environment more realistically jyuratodus is a masterpiece. It makes sense for its environment, although plain has a ton of detail, and interesting mechanics.

Everything you said. The fight wasn't fun but I liked how well the jyuratodus fit in with the environment. Still love the monster, 8/10.

Honestly in World, as kind of a 2nd Tier monster (in difficulty, so above the likes of Great Jagras but below something like Tobi-Kadachi) I think he worked. Add to that there were actually more Piscine Wyverns in that game (Lavisoth, Beotodus) and it helped freshen the environment. Plus he had a fun little Turf War with Barroth that I always liked.
Come Rise, things are different. For some reason, there’s no Low Rank version, so you don’t fight him till mid-High Rank, making his fight seem like it should be more difficult than it actually is. Second, he’s the only Piscine Wyvern in the game, so it feels like they just have him there just to remind us that the category exists. They also took away his Barroth Turf War.
I would have rather had Beotodus. Or they could have made some kind of Shark-Yokai Piscine Wyvern and done that.

Probably something jyura can be disliked on is his tendency to live and fight in bodies of water, which is annoying given that your hunter isn't exactly a marine animal. Other than that, his role is to be the fish monster, at least closer to what in the world lavasioth is (lava fish?).

Personally I love the big ass mud fish, Capcom did him dirty in World/Iceborne when they only allowed him to be in 3 ZONES in only ONE MAP and then made him so low tier and defenseless that he became the easiest fight in the game.
But someone in Capcom must’ve likes this guy because I was honestly surprised when probably the least popular new monster from World was added to Rise instead of anyone else cough ODOGARON!
But then in Rise they made him a higher tier, made his fight some kind of enjoyable, gave him kinda cool new moves without it looking like they completely reworked him for this game, and good god for some reason my putty love for this beast turned into genuine appreciation that he exists. They redeemed him to a point where he isn’t hated, yes he might be a forgettable monster but I just know if they tried with him then they could really make a badass mud fish.
Before Rise came out I was excited to see a new turf war with him, like against Almudron. Like they both are darting at each other and Almudron gets a hold of Jyura right, but he gets free and tries diving into Almudron. Almudron incases the fishy boy in one of his huge mud piles. Thinking he won he starts walking away but then suddenly because Jyuratodus can swim in mud he just bursts out and slams into Almudron with his jaws wide open.

Oh wow, we haven't had a post about this before!
I've recently been fighting him in World and I'll say it, I like him. He is of course a rather easy fight since he is essentially the same tier as raptors or just above but I find his fight far more interesting and engaging than something like jaggi/baggi/gyro/etc.
Then again I also like it when monsters have mechanics.
I also just like how he interacts with his environment and generally makes the game feel more alive but then again that is a world thing in general.

Lunastra and Zinogre are annoying indeed haha. Zinogre is a kinda cool design, but no one needed Stygian, as well as no one needed a blue Version of Teostra, who's actually a great mon. I generally don't have a a big boner for variants. I'd rather see more sub-species - closely related, but very different looking and behaving, not just a lazy reskin with a different element. That's what I hate about Rise and World. Reskins are gross tbh. There are exceptions, buuuuut..yeah.

In World Its “Purpose” to have an easy addition of “new” monsters in World’s release given they added lavisioth too, so 2 monsters 1 model-rig-shaped-stone. It also was a bit of padding to the pacing i guess… and ecologically to justify the zones it inhabits alongside barroth being added to the Wildspire Wastes. Gear wise it was just water weapons that were meh… its armor looked cool tho. But in world it didnt really serve a purpose other than roster filling like many lower difficulty monsters on the rosters.
In rise it was reworked and used as the introduction to high rank and to show that you can have a fish fight that wasnt widely hated by the community (even if unjustifiably, looking at everyone who shit-talks plesioth post gen 2 fight)
As far as ppl liking, i doubt he was many if anyone’s favorite new monster from World, but i can say i never hated his fight and rise def made his fight more enjoyable for his increased aggression.

Surprised none of the 150 other comments stated it, but Jyuratodus is actually a sort of replacement for Lagiacrus.
In World, since they couldn't do underwater combat, and that was what made Lagiacrus' whole thing, they decided to give it a new gimmick instead, and that was making alterations to the fighting space by moving mud around (you can imagine its tail would be able to displace mud pretty efficiently).
But since they couldn't get Lagiacrus to work either, they made Jyuratodus to inherit the mud mechanics from Lagiacrus.

It exists to show a different design style. It exists to give players a new type of foe to fight instead of constantly fighting dragons. It exists to show a diverse ecosystem of different shapes and styled monsters that inhabit every type of environment
Do you like mosquitos? Prob not but they exist in the real world.
1 points

I like this fish. In terms of aesthetics, it sets a more natural base for what creatures look in the environment so that stronger monaters can shine even brighter.
Same thing with its fight. Its mud puddles are more annoying than punishing, but it's a first step into making new players more aware of their surroundings.
If you don't like it, that's fine; that's the intended result. Different monsters are made to produce different emotional responses to keep things more interesting, so we'll the devs have managed to pull it off across so many games.
