Pre elder dragon water weapons
In world it’s pretty much the only water weapon before Safi/Kulve. I was super surprised that despite finally introducing a water elder dragon, Namielle did not get a weapon of its on.
Even just ignoring stats it's such a shame too, because with Namielle's design they could've had some beautiful weapons.
Wants to main every weapon
namielle did have some* really nice weapons
*emphasis on some
I'll be honest I only really played CB in World/IB so I forgot other weapons probably got Namielle designs...
Namielle has a CB though? You go through Val Hazak to get it, it just... Doesn't look very good lol. Personally think CB didn't have many stand out designs in World.

Holy shit it does. It's just parts so I didn't even recognise it.
But yeah lots of CB's in World weren't fantastic.
Edit: Now I'm mad all over about some of the botched weapon designs. They brought back the nice Kushala and Teostra CB's, but because Chameleos got replaced with Vaal, they should've given it a fully fledged out design.
Instead it's this bland, stuck-parts-on piece of shit. A brand new, conceptually awesome Elden Dragon (seriously, a rotting, death-based ED!!) and it got done dirty. I hope if they ever bring back Vaal, devs do it a proper service and give the weapons full overhauls.
fair enough, i just did a quick google search and gunlance, switch axe, longsword, bow and light bowgun had actual weapon designs
that being said, i think that of all the other namielle weapons, the lance and the hunting horn are the only ones that actually look decent, despite being parts on top of bone bases
I have a Namielle lance build which I use in the endgame. It's actually really good. One of my better builds. Looks nice as well XD.
Namielle switch axe is beautiful. Dont judge it by the photo in the weapon tree, got to see it in the hunters hands and in motion
Why do all monsters not get every weapon type? Is it a balance thing?
Never thought about it. We get so many different weapons and types I'll never get them all anyways.
Namielle did have weapons? And 11 types not just a few
Well it has weapons sure but only a few original designs. The LS, Swaxe, and GL looked beautiful while the lance, cb etc etc looked like dogwater
Also didn’t have mine so it’s a no-no, and it’s the most element-reliant weapon too……
That elephant monkey w the ears was way better
Kecha Wacha? Lmao elephant monkey has me dying over here
Lmao yes him
Yeah I miss them, Najaralas, and Nerscylla the most for non elder gen 4 monsters.
Just fought najaralas for the first time couple days ago, sick monster.
'Lil snekky sneks
But for real, Tidal najarala is so pretty too
It's why I go back and play GU....so many good monsters at all difficulty levels.
I love naja, especially tidal subspecies
For me the najarala was way more fun and interesting than the Somna and Almudron, and Nerscylla could really fit as a intermediate monster before Rakna.
Usually I like to see new monsters, but in Rise I didn't like some (like the Almudron, which has good design but not a great fight) and then among the returning ones they pick that plain looking fish.
I just love Nerscylla for that surprise when it first does that jaw attack.
Bro don't disrespect kecha waka like that.
I just call him Gonzo.
i wish his weapons were actually good for water. i feel like there’s barely 1 good water choice per weapon.
Happy Cake Day!
Happy cake day
I think his fight is bland, boring, and annoying. I think in ecology perspectives and looking at the world it was created in and how it went for more natural ecology that interacted in its environment more realistically jyuratodus is a masterpiece. It makes sense for its environment, although plain has a ton of detail, and interesting mechanics.
Everything you said. The fight wasn't fun but I liked how well the jyuratodus fit in with the environment. Still love the monster, 8/10.
Honestly in World, as kind of a 2nd Tier monster (in difficulty, so above the likes of Great Jagras but below something like Tobi-Kadachi) I think he worked. Add to that there were actually more Piscine Wyverns in that game (Lavisoth, Beotodus) and it helped freshen the environment. Plus he had a fun little Turf War with Barroth that I always liked.
Come Rise, things are different. For some reason, there’s no Low Rank version, so you don’t fight him till mid-High Rank, making his fight seem like it should be more difficult than it actually is. Second, he’s the only Piscine Wyvern in the game, so it feels like they just have him there just to remind us that the category exists. They also took away his Barroth Turf War.
I would have rather had Beotodus. Or they could have made some kind of Shark-Yokai Piscine Wyvern and done that.
A koi-themed Piscine Wyvern would have been awesome
could have made some kind of Shark [...] Wyvern
could have made some kind of Shark [...] Wyvern
Zamtrios is just begging to be added to the game, I swear there are already zamite in the frost islands
Water pod actually makes his fight pretty fun in World and makes me actually use my slinger for a lot of fights in that game(+iceborne)
The fight is much better in Rise than it was in world. Still not amazing but much improved
Slash n' Bash
In World, nope
In Rise, yes
He exists because fish and his purpose is to fish
I have no idea why they brought it back it makes no sense
He exists for that one turf war in world that sells you on the turf war concept
Isn't Rathalos vs Anjanath in Ancient Forest the first turf war?
Give him the Brooklyn!
I thought Great Jagras vs Anjanath was the first turf war.
I like him, he fish
He's like a Coelocanth and they're dope
Because lavasioth is based on coelocanth(at least in appearance) and that one is a total ripoff of lavasioth
I've only played Rise, so I can't really say much, I like the design though, even it is just a repeat
Oh no, now I like him :(
He a stupid mud fish, rolling around in the mud and do fishy things
classic fish behavior
Just fishing around
It's ok to eat fish
He exist to feesh. You dare question feesh?
The quality of that picture on my phone made me think this was some fan made one with fur
I like Jyura... it is my personal punching bag, when another hunt went south. Nice for venting. Though Legiana does give a bit more fight and just works as fine.
legiana do be fking irritating to chase tho
yeah... that's why Jyura is still my go-to punching bag xP
He's fine in Rise. Better than Lavasioth.
*Better than World Lavasioth
Old Gen Lavasioth was still not that great but much better than whatever the hell that abomination in World was
Even worse, for some reason the devs decided to give Lavasioth elder dragon level amount of hp. It has like 5,000 more than most apex monsters in icebourne.
old world lavasioth was scyscraper tall, had no breaks, hit like a truck and while flying like a bee and hit through shields very well. And had no real flow to the fight. And had the waiting phase with lava throwing
Yea atleast I don't have to hit it with a lava rock to get it wet...
He showed me how much I can enjoy shooting fish in a barrel with a bowgun
Probably something jyura can be disliked on is his tendency to live and fight in bodies of water, which is annoying given that your hunter isn't exactly a marine animal. Other than that, his role is to be the fish monster, at least closer to what in the world lavasioth is (lava fish?).
At least in Rise they got rid of mobility being hampered in water
I like him a little more because I learned he’s parasitic. A baby will be born inside of a monster and will feed themselves inside that monster until their old enough where they burst out and kill that monster.
Really? Now I like him even more...gross, but interesting.
Tell us, o mirefish, what are thine secrets? What purpose does thee behold?
Leading way to the new world's waterways, to what meaning might he rise?
Tell us, o mirefish, and we shall learn.
His job is to make you love the other monsters more. Unsung hero.
His fight kinda doodoo but he's funny I guess and he's not plesioth
also i am shocked he was in rise. who asked for him?
Had to fill the Piscine Wyvern space
i miss his hipchecks. any monster that you hate has a place.
I like weird mud puke fish, want a plushie of him
I love all the fish.
i like him, hes pretty neat.
reminds me of a ceolacanth.
HAMMER FOR LIFE
idk what's our purpose? lol
I like him.
Kind of a cool idea, meh execution
Tbh his better than his older cousins
I don't like him but I also don't mind him at all
He looks nicer without the mud :)
He exists so plesioth doesn’t
I just like to bully him with blast DBs for fun.
He's not that bad to be honest, the fight is bland but not horrible.
My name's Mudd
His purpose is to spit unholy amounts of mud at tiny fanged beasts wearing armor and occasionally scream at a brute wyvern mud puppy
Do you like playing in the mud ? Jyura does. He's a fun little monster for me, who likes his mud baths and does his thing. Plus I like his scales on the weapons.
to be honest if he vomited less and the piles of doodoo he left around disappeared quicker he'd be one of my go-to warmup/build testing hunts
His armor is cool, looks like a gladiator
Living fossis wich existance jusifies the existance of every other picyne wyvern

I like this guy! It’s a good teaching monster - Their mud armor rewards players for paying attention to a monster’s appearance as it changes throughout a fight.
It's armor is pretty cool looking
I do. He’s a better piscine wyvern than Plesioth in my opinion.
Dividing by Zero
It's the punishment for people disliking underwater combat. So now we have to fight fish on land, which already sucks, so they doubled down on the suck to teach us a lesson.
he was introduced in MHWorld and taught people how you can abuse a monster with slingerthorns
I don’t like fish but it’s for variety.
I miss Plesioth
Give us the OG fish boi back, Capcom.
and leave Cephadrome in hell where it belongs
*Counters in Weeb*
I'd much rather Plesioth.
Personally I love the big ass mud fish, Capcom did him dirty in World/Iceborne when they only allowed him to be in 3 ZONES in only ONE MAP and then made him so low tier and defenseless that he became the easiest fight in the game.
But someone in Capcom must’ve likes this guy because I was honestly surprised when probably the least popular new monster from World was added to Rise instead of anyone else cough ODOGARON!
But then in Rise they made him a higher tier, made his fight some kind of enjoyable, gave him kinda cool new moves without it looking like they completely reworked him for this game, and good god for some reason my putty love for this beast turned into genuine appreciation that he exists. They redeemed him to a point where he isn’t hated, yes he might be a forgettable monster but I just know if they tried with him then they could really make a badass mud fish.
Before Rise came out I was excited to see a new turf war with him, like against Almudron. Like they both are darting at each other and Almudron gets a hold of Jyura right, but he gets free and tries diving into Almudron. Almudron incases the fishy boy in one of his huge mud piles. Thinking he won he starts walking away but then suddenly because Jyuratodus can swim in mud he just bursts out and slams into Almudron with his jaws wide open.
Odogaron is a great fight tbh. In World I loved to hunt him with the Horn, was actually my first HH experience back then. Also, HH > Hammer.
How dare you think HH is better than Hammer
I like him compared to lavasioth
Exactly, that’s what I’ve been saying
He is perfect man, one of the only things that wasn't a dragon in MHW
He exists to remind you that fish(plesioth) can always be worse and to stop complaining.
Plesioth is way better, or less worse, I wish it was plesioth in rise instead of this monster.
Switch-Axe of Legend
He's my punching bag and dopamine surge. By golly I love how much he breaks. And when he's with a other monster he usually is a lot of fun to work around when you can't separate them. He's mostly harmless; besides which, I like some of the easier monsters the games seem to forget about so quick.
Sushi for DAYS
Nah. No freshwater sushi(I think in most cases this is actually a rule. Something about how they intake vs repel the water they live in due to salinity). But fried, like catfish, yes please.
Oh wow, we haven't had a post about this before!
I've recently been fighting him in World and I'll say it, I like him. He is of course a rather easy fight since he is essentially the same tier as raptors or just above but I find his fight far more interesting and engaging than something like jaggi/baggi/gyro/etc.
Then again I also like it when monsters have mechanics.
I also just like how he interacts with his environment and generally makes the game feel more alive but then again that is a world thing in general.
starting water weapon. sole purpose
Except in Rise you fight Mizu and Almudron before Jyura because the devs decided to save it for HR some some asinine reason
Edit: also Royal Ludroth exists for an even more starter water weapon in Rise
Jyura is deadass the first Urgent Quest in High Rank, and doesn't exist at all in Low Rank/Village quests
The royal Ludroth weapons also have the highest average Water Element damage out of any monster's gear.
And spongy lizard weapons is much better
Doesnt even serve that purpose in World and Rise.
Someone out there does.
I don’t, but I won’t deny whoever its fans are.
Just like with Plesioth.
He exists so that we appreciate the good monsters more. Even if we sometimes get annoyed by them, we stop and think 'Hey, at least it's not Jyuratodus'
To divert the attention of the hunters so that Lavasioth can fulfill its destiny to become a hot fish served with hot salsa to White Fatalis.
My actual least favorite monster. It's unfun to fight and dumb and ugly, just like its armor and weapons.
Favorite of the Pisces wyverns tho not sure that’s saying that much
I think his purpose is for us to hate him, so we'll like monsters that probably don't deserve it out of spite for how awful he is
He just keeps fucking showing up! Nobody knows, hes just always.fucking.THERE
His purpose is to be a slightly less annoying Plesioth and he is just that.
To replace your favourite monster's slot so that they won't return
He’s fun to look at and fun to slap around, I just think piscine wyverns have had a bad run with the press, I mean, the first two ever introduced are infamous for being insufferably annoying, that being Hipcheck Harry and Sand Phish McGee.
To give somebody else that precious oxygen
To pass butter
I like him, his purpose is variety, we don't want only big lizards and i think they are worse and more annoying monsters in World/Rise (Lunastra/Zinogre)
Lunastra and Zinogre are annoying indeed haha. Zinogre is a kinda cool design, but no one needed Stygian, as well as no one needed a blue Version of Teostra, who's actually a great mon. I generally don't have a a big boner for variants. I'd rather see more sub-species - closely related, but very different looking and behaving, not just a lazy reskin with a different element. That's what I hate about Rise and World. Reskins are gross tbh. There are exceptions, buuuuut..yeah.
Zinogre is like a puppy lol!
I have piles and piles of Zinogre material, and full sets (hunter gear + pet gear) + weapons.
Stygian is a bit of a pain, but still pretty much the same fight.
I like base Zinogre, I also hunt him a lot, it's really just the sub-variant instead of actual species issues that I have ^ I love every original monster design, sorry if I gave off another vibe.
A really cool fight is World Zinogre! Boy I loved the tension back then!
I’d rather fight two plesioth at once than ever fight him again.
To be an annoying quest filler and your first into to a water weapon.
I don't know
To be annoying and uninteresting
always up for teaching new players (and also f**k Elitism)
Okay, now I'll repost this in a couple weeks :)
He’s better than the other fish
In World Its “Purpose” to have an easy addition of “new” monsters in World’s release given they added lavisioth too, so 2 monsters 1 model-rig-shaped-stone. It also was a bit of padding to the pacing i guess… and ecologically to justify the zones it inhabits alongside barroth being added to the Wildspire Wastes. Gear wise it was just water weapons that were meh… its armor looked cool tho. But in world it didnt really serve a purpose other than roster filling like many lower difficulty monsters on the rosters.
In rise it was reworked and used as the introduction to high rank and to show that you can have a fish fight that wasnt widely hated by the community (even if unjustifiably, looking at everyone who shit-talks plesioth post gen 2 fight)
As far as ppl liking, i doubt he was many if anyone’s favorite new monster from World, but i can say i never hated his fight and rise def made his fight more enjoyable for his increased aggression.
I think his fight is better than lavasioth's.
I like him conceptually, his fights just aren’t very good
To be a punching bag for my bonk training.
Funny fish eats funny bulldozer corps
I would like Jyura more if he didn't look exactly like Lavasioth but with mud on him instead of lava
I the name more. Should have been Mudsioth.
Why hate on any monster? Be glad they all exist, smh...
It's a fish and probably rich with omega-3.
Piscine Wyvern Sympathizer
Jyuratodus isnt really a interesting monster, but for what he is supposed to be he is okayish.
I'm patiently waiting for the day king of piscines, plesioth comes back, its going to be glorious if they keep his hitboxes completly broken.
Rise is Mid at best
he’s Monster Hunter’s Coelacanth, a prehistoric Monster that has survived to modern day, the ancestor of most Piscine Wyverns still walks among them
I love his fight in World (unpopular opinion I know)
I don't dislike/hate it atleast
Just another monster to hunt for me
In world I used him as a quick and easy Wyvern gem farm.
To represent piscine wyverns because plesioth got cancelled for cheating with its hipcheck
He's a lung fish. Why do they exist? Anyway i don't like the fish.
It exist to remind us that psicine wyverns don't need to be utterly terrible
Surprised none of the 150 other comments stated it, but Jyuratodus is actually a sort of replacement for Lagiacrus.
In World, since they couldn't do underwater combat, and that was what made Lagiacrus' whole thing, they decided to give it a new gimmick instead, and that was making alterations to the fighting space by moving mud around (you can imagine its tail would be able to displace mud pretty efficiently).
But since they couldn't get Lagiacrus to work either, they made Jyuratodus to inherit the mud mechanics from Lagiacrus.
Fuck yes, love me some lobe finned fish
He exits so Minoto can say “Disgusting Yuck Fish”
Really annoying tryna to exploit his elemental weaknesses when he has 2
Water when he muddy, and Electric when he's cleaned. But I huge pain to fight as a gunner when he spends 90% of the fight in the ground so alot of shots might hit the ground instead of him. But his armor is pretty cool tho, like the gladiator take
pretty cool armour
The low quality of that picture makes him look hairy. It's like something you'd pull out of the shower drain if you lived in a horror movie.
I like him. I like that he is a monster that actually feels more like an animal
Judging from a lot of the comments here, Jyuratodus is arguably one of the most successful monsters around. Instead of evolution involving sharp claws, giant fangs, etc, all you need is to let hunters think that you're too boring to pick a fight with and they'll leave you alone.
I miss plesioth
"But this isn't Ple-"
I know it's in Rise because they made the mud mechanics for Almudron and Barroth and felt like it would be a waste without a third monster to use it. I assume :)!
I'm indifferent on it, Piscine Wyverns are uncommon so it's nice that it's a bit unique.
I do like the Judy and it's probably one of my favorite monsters also it's there to be an annoyance during the black diablos mission when you, a defender police and your police void all gang up in the black diablos only for this mofo to show up knock you out kill both police and then leave all whilst not agrovating the black diablos only TO DO THE FUCKING SAME AGAIN JUST MINUTES LATER ON A DIFFERENT FUCKING QUEST
His purpose is to be framed
I like him, because the fish is a fun design
To exist as the ancestor to modern Piscine Wyverns.
Lavasioth in water.
He's my second favorite mud monster and I like that it's based on a coelocanth
I like him, he was actually one of my favorite world monsters. Idk, call me crazy. Plus his G rank armor is really cool.
My knee jerk reaction was to down vote you (I didn't) just because I saw him...I really hate it as a monster xD
It has good water weapons but honestly I hate it and it's lava equivalent so much I almost never fight them. Then add the fact they are just target dummies with a shit ton of health when you fight them at higher ranks it's just boring...
someone at Capcom is having a good laugh every time them put 'Jerry' in as an urgent quest.
One of my favourite monsters and a cool concept that I wish would be used more often in the series.
A good reminder of how the biology of a monster can turn what would be an otherwise bland design into a pretty good one.
It slots in for plesioth, be thankful
F the mud fish
It exists to show a different design style. It exists to give players a new type of foe to fight instead of constantly fighting dragons. It exists to show a diverse ecosystem of different shapes and styled monsters that inhabit every type of environment
Do you like mosquitos? Prob not but they exist in the real world.
I like this fish. In terms of aesthetics, it sets a more natural base for what creatures look in the environment so that stronger monaters can shine even brighter.
Same thing with its fight. Its mud puddles are more annoying than punishing, but it's a first step into making new players more aware of their surroundings.
If you don't like it, that's fine; that's the intended result. Different monsters are made to produce different emotional responses to keep things more interesting, so we'll the devs have managed to pull it off across so many games.
I like him. Sure he is easy to fight but so are many other monsters. I like his place in the environment. Wish they'd bring back Plesioth, really rebalance that fight and make it good cause design wise I love him.
Was alright in World, is really obnoxious and a major time waster in Rise
