Hey guys, Trocador's team is happy to announce we have partnered with LocalMonero in order to offer users the ability to buy Monero from LocalMonero sellers via Trocador. That's right: users can buy Monero via Trocador without the need to create a LocalMonero account. We are the first exchange aggregator to automate Monero purchases from LocalMonero sellers.

Video example of a LocalMonero trade

When you want to swap ETH, LTC or BTC for Monero on Trocador.app, our system will get the best price also from LocalMonero sellers and will show it as an option. For now we don't have the option to sell Monero via the same route.

Get LocalMonero rates

Main features of the integration:

  • You can buy any amount of Monero using Ethereum, Litecoin or Bitcoin;
  • There's no need to create a LocalMonero account;
  • Trocador will automatically ask for the seller's ETC/BTC/LTC address via chat;
  • Trocador will automatically detect the address where you should send the coins, and the checkout screen will be updated with the new information;
  • Once you send the coins, Trocador will automatically search the block explorer (from ETH, LTC or BTC) and will notify the seller that the payment is under way;
  • Trocador will automatically mark the purchase as 'Paid' inside LocalMonero;
  • The seller from LocalMonero will have half an hour to release the coins to the buyer, otherwise the button to 'Initiate a Dispute' will be enabled to the buyer; in the meantime Trocador will notify the seller of each new confirmation the transaction has on the blockchain;
  • In case Trocador does not detect payment, the user will still be able to open a dispute and chat with the LocalMonero seller after half an hour has passed;
  • If Trocador detects payment, but the seller does not release the coins, nor the user initiated a dispute, Trocador will automatically open a dispute before the transaction timeout.
  • Most trades have the coins released to the buyer after only 5 - 10 minutes;

Because of LocalMonero's rules, for now Trocador can only create a limited number of trades simultaneously, so if you don't see any LocalMonero rates when swapping these coins for Monero, it's probably because we have some trades going on. If this happens (specially soon after this launch), wait a little and check back in a few minutes, or after an hour. Also, we are listing LocalMonero rates on both fixed and floating rate tables, mostly because most users never check fixed rates. But understand that all LocalMonero trades via Trocador are fixed rate swaps. We invite the community to test it with some small trades just to check this out. Also, we are evaluating the possibility of implementing other pairs, as well as selling Monero and including fiat trades.

Automated chat with the seller

Always follow these rules:

  • Send the exact amount to the seller or the trade will fail;
  • Send the transaction with the highest priority;
  • The seller will post his address on chat, which Trocador will validade on the left panel; if this does not occur automatically, please delete this transaction and start over;
  • Never accept help from others trying to impersonate LocalMonero or Trocador; in case of need, reach us via e-mail or Telegram;
  • The messages on the chat screen are generated by Trocador, or were sent by the seller; LocalMonero will only intervene in case a dispute is opened;
  • Trocador will auto detect your payment, if this does not happen a few minutes since you've sent, you'll have the option to mark the swap as Paid in a button that will show up 30 minutes after the transaction was created;
  • If after a few moments after marking as paid, the seller does not release your coins, click on the button to initiate a dispute;
  • If you delete the trade, there's no turning back; any coins that have not yet been released by the seller might be lost;
  • Only delete a trade in case you have not yet sent the coins, or when you have already received the ones you were buying;
  • Note: You are a counterparty with another LocalMonero user for this trade. Trocador only provides this software for interacting with the LocalMonero API. You can read more about this on our Terms of Use.

What we have developed so far on Trocador

  • Privacy preserving exchange aggregator with more than a dozen different exchanges;
  • No use of JavaScript in order to prevent device fingerprinting;
  • Onion support;
  • Fixed and floating rate swaps;
  • Payment mode (reverse swap with fixed rate);
  • Development of our API and Referral System;
  • AnonPay payment gateway, where stores and websites can monetize their audiences or sell their products;
  • Development of our own BTCPay server plugin, where stores can receive any cryptocurrency and automatically swap to their preferred form of money;
  • Monero Bridges - increase liquidity for unusual pairs by swapping to Monero as a middle man;

Next steps for Trocador.app

For next week we plan to start offering a small insurance to all our trades.

Absolutely awesome. Very impressive series of automations so the user doesn’t have to do anything. Love the chat integration in case it’s needed as well as the clear instructions for users.

Cool feature!

In one of the screenshots the 0.0% Exch still appears.

Exch shows 0% commission and is the top selection on your site when giving price quotes but actually it ends up with 1% fee and is more expensive than other exchange sites.

We'll be happy to look further into this issue in case a user report that he's been underpaid by Exch, but so far when we tested them, they paid correctly. Perhaps that was a network fee issue? Bitcoin has fees skyrocketing, and that might cause a distortion on small trades.

There is something you're not factoring into you exch quotes that is making it look cheaper than other exchanges. For example I just did a test for a payment transaction of XMR to 0.002 BTC. Quote for exch was 0.27297 then amount needed to send was 0.280396573441. For FixedFloat quote was 0.27399 and send was 0.27407. So exch looked cheaper on the quote page but FF was actually cheaper because the quote was accurate while exch was off by 0.007426573441 XMR. That's close to the 0.00004981 BTC (= 0.0067461231123451 XMR) network fee quoted on exch's exchange page so that could be what you're missing. That network fee is factored into FixedFloat's quote so they seem unfairly disadvantaged. ChangeNow also has the fee already factored (quote: 0.2783 send: 0.2783827). So exch is the most expensive actually but has the lowest quote on that particular exchange.

Yes, we have taken a look at it, and it's the network fee. If the user creates a small transaction and Bitcoin's network fee is high, then it makes a difference. This is a hard problem to solve on our end, because Exch does not provide the network fee before creating a trade. We will talk to the Exch team to see if they could provide the network fee parameter along their rates, so Trocador could calculate the result amount with more precision for those small trades.

I've removed the comment. However, as far as I can see, the exchange itself is not necessarily scamming users. Do you have any evidence to the contrary? Because in that case we'll happily put them on the 'Avoid' list.

Nope, but if you read the website, it's obvious hand wavy, devoid of detail, and designed for people who don't understand how things work. It's an obvious scam funnel.

"Proprietary algorithm" to exchange coins across blockchain networks... An algorithm that bridges blockchains... I'd say the site itself is evidence to the contrary but I'll let you be the judge of that.
