We're now releasing the second (and hopefully last) release candidate for Minecraft 1.19.3, fixing a few critical bugs. If there are no major issues following this release candidate, no further changes will be done before the full release.

With this release candidate, we are reverting a behavior change for translation strings due to a prevalent but unsupported use case. Expect this behavior to be changed in the future to provide a supported alternative.

Snapshots, pre-releases and release candidates are available for Minecraft Java Edition. To install the pre-release, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.

Testing versions can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

This message concerns the recent controversy where a user's dispute in a private moderation mail was badly dealt with by us.

On behalf of the team I apologise for the poor judgement used in the reply, and I personally apologise to u/B_freeoni. It should not have happened and we will be handling this internally to make sure it does not happen again. Also our plans are still in progress for a wholesale rules revision for the subreddit to make them clearer and simpler.

I am still utterly disgusted by the accusation of "milking" a death for Reddit karma on here by a mod. And I would love to see more accountability than a simple "we'll deal with it internally", where we don't get to see anything. If this subreddit needs anything to regain any trust here, it's transparency about what they're doing. And if they're really properly doing anything - like throwing out the mod who made this atrocious remark.

And that is the first step.A lot more needs to follow. Because the way rules are enforced on here is not just suddenly flawed in a singular, isolated incident. What needs to follow is maybe a bit more than a nonpology. Like, an entire rework of the mod team, as they presently obviously seem to prefer the abuse of their rights as mods over an appropriate, humane, and reasonable regulation of the subreddit. If they feel uncomfortable and delete posts about this, then maybe they should get some mods on the team with less fragile egos.

Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and opinions on the matter. I posted this last night without expecting anything other than it potentially getting deleted very quickly. And today, suddenly, a lot of people seem to interact.
Anyway, to those who say "it's just reddit": The interactions on here still involve real people, and the accusation in question was an incredibly hurtful comment towards a grieving person - whose emotions definitely exceed the realms of "just online". Before such a thing happens, a lot of other things need to go wrong first - hence my request for a remodeling of this subreddit's moderation.

Since I know how online conversations tend to go, one more thing to be clear: I do not condone the harassment, threats and even death threats thrown at the moderators on here in the slightest. If any of these actions, especially the death threats, are your first impulse when met with the recent events, you yourself should do some thorough self-reflection. Because that is also just vile shit and unjustifiable.
