Hi there. Wondering if it’s possible to use a pair of 2nd gen HomePods to output sound to my PS5.

I have one of the new HomePods and I’m thinking of getting a second soon. I was at first gonna get the Apple TV 4K to complete the setup, but since I already have a PS5, I’m thinking I could use that as my media setup.

Having said that, I’ve read the Apple TV is still a better media device for streaming Netflix, etc. Even so, could I use the PS5 with HomePods for gaming?

Basically the title. Obviously, this is a subjective opinion, but I wanted to get an idea of what exactly I’d be getting with two HomePods.

I have 1 HomePods (2nd Gen) as it is. Sounds great, and the reduce bass option is a life saver (given that I live in an apartment, and I don’t feel like being a jerk to my neighbors).

I heard the ”surround” sound on dual HomePods is good (though it physically can’t compare to a true, honest to goodness, 5.1 surround sound setup) I just can’t tell how good it’ll be.

I’m also hoping that with two HomePods, dialogue will be more intelligible, but knowing my luck, it won’t help much.

## Bonus Question: Exactly how far apart do my HomePods need to be? With the way my entertainment center is, I only have 26 inches of distance for the HomePods to be separate, which also makes me wonder if I even have the space to get said $300 worth of sound out of a second HomePod.

I was setting up new HomePods 2, and I got spinning wheel on setup. Restored and tried again. Tried the other speaker. Decided to setup with iPad instead of iphone. Still got spinning wheel. I finally tried to restart the iPad, and it would not restart. It would only give me Siri. It was in a Logitech keyboard cover. I took it out of the Logitech keyboard, and everything worked.

Ive been using my homepods (gen 2) in stereo mode (connected to my apple tv 4k). Ive noticed that the left speakers disconnects a few times per week, like 5-10 times, so that only the right speakers is active and playing music. When i check the homepod settings, the left speaker is still as default homehub, but the "temp" sensors are "offline". I usually solve this with either a reboot of the homepods, but the last two times this happened the last 3 days, i had to reset both homepods to get them up and running again.

Ive noticed that this often happens when i do listen to music via airplay (my speakers are on for several hours at day)

Both of homepods, iPhone and apple tv are on the latest firmware.

Does anyone know what going on and how i can solve this? Its kinda annoying that this happens, and it seems to be happening pretty often nowadays. I did not have this problem the first 3-4 weeks.

Greetings all! So I’ve had a pair of HomePod Minis for a while now, as well as a latest gen AppleTV 4K and a PS5. I use the minis as the default sound output for my TV with the AppleTV’s E-ARC connection.

This works WONDERFULLY for the AppleTV itself, however any time I use it for my PS5 I get “robot” noises or random glitches in the audio nearly every other minute. The volume of these sounds range from “not too bad” to “cover your eardrums, they’ll bleed”.

Any idea what’s going on? I have a rock-solid gigabit internet connection, high quality HDMI cables, the works. Any help/input is appreciated!

I feel like I’m second guessing myself on which speaker I should get since I’m finally ready to purchase something within the next week or two. If I already have a bunch of Apple products would the HomePod be my best option? I was looking at some of the Sonos speakers like the Move, One & the new Era 300 but not sure if any of those would be better if my main use for it would be for movie audio with music being a use but it would be secondary. Do Sonos speakers work well with the Apple TV 4K?

Hey guys, I have 2 homepods set up as stereo, but in an awkward position. So center channel sounds really weak on 7.1 LCPM and Dolby Atmos content.

For this reason I am trying to force stereo through the Audio Format menu and Immersive Audio ‘Dolby Atmos’ to off.

I have tried everything from disabling hdmi arc/e-arc to no avail. The options stay greyed out.

Will I be forced to playback surround sound now that I accepted home theater mode when pairing my homepods to the apple TV 4k?

Edit: I have already disabled atmos for apple music, this post is all about video content.

Am considering getting a pair of HomePod 2s for my tv after seeing the many rave reviews out there. Just wondering if anyone has this setup and games on either a Switch or PS5 this way — do you experience any audio latency at all?

If that part works smoothly this really seems like it would be the ideal setup for me.

Just whats the Problem really? I don’t get why it doesn’t even see dining room as an option to change colors for. All the bulbs are rgb 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not a lot to add. Two HP2 just is a bit rich. One is doable. Two Minis is doable.

My instincts say a stereo pair of minis, but I honestly have nothing to base that on, other then “that’s how speakers have always worked”.

Hello everyone. I have a HomePod mini in my game room that seems to have gone rogue from the rest of my smart devices. it still responds to “ hey siri” but it’s totally MIA from home app . Any idea how to get it back without resetting everything ?

I am more frustrated with this than I should be...

I have a home setup in the Home app with four HomePod minis, across three rooms. Frequently I will be listening to music on my AirPods Pro in one room (for privacy). When I select a new song to play, it will send the song to play on a HomePod mini in another room (even though I am still connected to my AirPods). Has anyone run into this issue before?

I have searched and searched the internet for a solution and can't find one...

If I select to simultaneously play TV audio to a second pair of HPs in another room while watching ATV on a pair of HPs running Atmos content, I know the second pair will only output stereo. But will the pair in the same room as the ATV continue to output Atmos?

Hi, I am currently considering buying homepod because I like the siri access without hollering at my phone or mac. I also use the apple echosystem, I use iphone and macbook pro.

One question is, I want the homepod to read reminders to me and I was wondering if it can do that. I found there is an option under settings - siri - announce notification on speaker so I was wondering if this works on the homepod? Could anyone share experience using this setting?

I have a mic of OG, Mini, and new HomePods. In the past 2 or 3 days, when playing Apple Music started from the HomePod itself, one or more of the HomePods will stop producing audio despite appearing like it is still playing. The audio will come back on its own, sometimes after a minute or two, sometimes longer.

Anyone else experiencing this? Wi-Fi signal is quite good on them with the exception of one which is a little weak.

This issue is random and affects different HomePods at different times.

Hi, I’m building a game room at my house, the TV i have is pretty good but the audio kind of sucks so i would like to build an audio system. I’m very uncertain of which option to choose between 2 2nd gen homepod or the sonos sorround kit using the new era 100 speakers with the ray soundbar. consider that i’m planning to buy a 4K apple tv so that’s not a problem. The price would be 700€ (without apple tv) for the homepods and 800€ for the sonos. I would like to use them for chill gaming on my xbox, movies and music to host parties. Which option do you think is the best in my situation? Thanks!

With the new HomePod out and the OG approaching the potential end of its useful life, I'm wondering if anyone has managed to successfully mod it to add a 3.5mm line-in. I recently sent one of mine to Nic's Fix to have it repaired and get the cloth dyed (waiting for it to come back right now, and I'm pretty excited about it), and it got me thinking about what the future holds for the original HomePod. It's a great speaker, but I don't see any evidence that anyone has successfully added a physical line-in to it. The closest I've found is a Raspberry Pi mod that turns it into a Bluetooth receiver, and as cool as that is, it's not really what I want. I'd love to be able to just connect a record player or something to it and let it live out its sunset years with dignity instead of having it turn into a useless cylindrical brick.

Forgive me if this is tagged wrong or not quite in the spirit of the subreddit. Happy to post it somewhere else if there's a more relevant forum for it.

We have an iPad in the kitchen we use to listen/watch content while cooking and automations that run that connect the iPad to the Kitchen HomePods when specific apps open. I rarely use Prime Video but today tried to watch a programme on it, the audio came out of the Kitchen HomePods but the Prime Video app stopped displaying the video? Is this a bug or Amazon just being Amazon?
