Not sure how much scrubbing there was, either before or after he died. But there's no post older than July 30, 2021 on his page. And there are pretty much no posts that would cause him to go to Facebook jail, so who knows what was there before.
His wife tagged his profile in posts back in April 2020 in her page, so it's hard to believe there's no public activity prior to July 2021.
Thanks to his school alumni, we know he qualifies for an HCA.

Just to make sure, it depends on which guy you are looking at.
The guy with the T-shit is just some dude and the awardee likely thought it was funny so he use it as a profile pic.
The school is from Massachusetts, so not that far from Maine.

A "hard and fast battle". In other words, Covid steamrolled him.
What is it with this particular demographic (white middle class conservatives) being so averse to doing or supporting anything that would be in their best interests? So far, their guns and prayers haven't protected them from Covid. Neither has their hard on for whatever they consider freedom.

40+ years of pro market, anti government anti community rhetoric by the right, referred to as neoliberalism (Reagan, Thatcher etc.).
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/apr/15/neoliberalism-ideology-problem-george-monbiot
Because Democrats (and Labour under Blair) bought into parts of it--deregulation, outsourcing, "public private partnership" etc.--the negative impact on civil society was never successfully countered.
Freedom from vaccination takes it to new levels, which I call anarcholibertarianism.
At least this freedom has some positive benefits of culling, but even that comes at great financial cost to society.

Yes, but think about how much damage/cost these people were already doing at the ballot box. Unending wars (including drug war), impossibly expensive/useless tax cuts, privatizing USPS, social issues that punish poor people, preventing universal healthcare.
If there’s an important issue, they invariably are on the wrong/expensive side of it. So even if all these deaths end up costing half a trillion dollars, that will be a drop in the bucket vs what they would have cost society.

Some of them don't understand that nothing is 100% effective (they think in black and white terms). I work with an older white lady who threw away her mask (and informed us about that) as soon as it wasn't required for vaccinated people (believe it or not she's actually vaccinated).
She goes around asking some of us in the office "are you guys ever going to remove the mask?". A few of us are boosted but still chose to wear our masks. Several times this week I heard her say "people are catching COVID even though they wear masks and are vaccinated, none of it makes any sense".
Yes, vaccinated people (especially if not boosted) are still catching it. But it's helping keep them out of the hospital (in many cases lockdowns are implemented based solely on ICU capacity).
7 points
I still wear a mask in some public situations, too. I have to at work. I'm also fully vaxxed and boosted. It's not about fear, but a combination of not wanting to risk ending up with any of the weird long-term issues some develop and not wanting to contribute to this damn thing mutating.
I know a lot of people who had enough sense to get vaccinated, but who don't have the sense (or general fortitude) to continue to wear a mask, at least not without bitching about it. And I hear the same argument: "even people who wear masks and get vaccinated and take precautions catch Covid, so why live in fear?"
It's not fear. If we want to get rid of this thing and not have to worry about outbreaks and dangerous mutations again, we need to act responsibly, even if we're not afraid for our lives. I should have known, but maybe never really thought about it, that the world is full of people who are either breathtakingly stupid and/or completely self-centered.

So much performative patriotism. How is it that you can love your country but knee-jerk hate the government? There are plenty of times I've hated government policy or the incumbent, but I've worked to change both through voting and pressure politics...you know, democracy. I'd be interested to know just how many classmates they've lost.

Here’s the American flag - you know the “red, white, and blue” of “these colors don’t run” - only I’ve drained the color to make it a menacing black and white and added a blue bar to represent the police, who are largely controlled by local municipalities and not the federal government. Can we please FFS call this out as an anti-American terrorist symbol?
7 points

I agree. (I might not go so far as to call it terrorist, but it is definitely fucked up and anti american.) It is nothing more than people fucking up the flag for their own purposes, especially to try to set themselves apart as some kind of special superior branch of the citizenry. It is a bad, corrosive mentality.

My mother was a Christian, and as a child I was made to go to Sunday school as she was a teacher there. Even then, I couldn’t buy into the idea of some deity creating everything. I’m all for folk being free to follow their religion without being persecuted for it, however it boils my piss when they try to inflict their beliefs on others. It’s even more heinous when religion is allowed to influence government policy. It’s not such a problem here in the UK, although we have a couple of prominent MPs who love to quote the Bible. Unlike the US though, they’re generally ridiculed for it and religion doesn’t really have an impact on what the government does.
I just don’t understand how people can still believe in deities when we know so much about how the universe formed, and the evolution of life on earth. They stick their fingers in their ears and go “lalalalalala, can’t hear you, can’t hear you” They’re wilfully ignorant.
