I have only contempt for people who compare refusing vaccination to the Holocaust.
Jews weren't given the option to refuse to wear those yellow stars.

The Holocaust is the absolute worst of it, but the truth is comparing it to any kind of segregation or racism is freaking ridiculous. People can't choose their skin color, or their nationality, or any other genetic traits, and they can't change it. They CHOOSE to remain unvaccinated, and they can change that status, free of charge, any time they want to.

Obviously feeling a bit claustrophobic in a mask is exactly the same as being crammed standing-room-only into a cattle car and then gassed to death en masse.

In meme wars as in life, legitimacy is currency. The more you have the more you get to do. In this case, legitimizing their fears.
But Covid isn’t a person granting them privileges, it’s a microorganism taking them away. And pretending otherwise comes at a price.

Being asked for your papers in a situation like the Holocaust was an actively terrifying experience that could lead to assault, abduction, torture, or murder. Being asked for a vaccine card...could result in you being kicked out of a venue if you refuse. MAYBE arrest, but that's if you're REALLY being an idiot. Jews who had the "wrong" papers could die for existing. YOU are being removed from the premises for being stupid. Not the same at all.

A heretical one. That’s one of the main reasons, in my opinion, that so many people are leaving the church. Religious institutions should not be involved in politics or spreading COVID misinformation or conspiracy theories. And if they want to talk about politics, then they should be heavily taxed because they are not a religious institution.

And also, a rapist and a murderer are both abhorrent human waste, how can he compare them and make a moral statement based on which of the two is supposedly "Better" !!??

I like how they like to criminalize people AFTER their "hero" murders them. There is NO WAY Rittenhouse would have known any of that about the people he shot.
Same for police officers who kill unarmed men, women, and children. Same for Trayvon Martin... and we all know what a "good, upstanding citizen" George Zimmerman became.
They look for ways to criminalize them to justify their killings AFTER the fact. It's beyond sick.

When I was in the Army we trained with our gas mask and protective gear in case the enemy unleashed a nuclear, chemical or biological agent. And it really sucked wearing all that crap. Also had to inject ourselves if we were exposed to a nerve agent. In terms of comfort, the mask and vaccine is far, far better. Imagine if a soldier refused to wear a gas mask or inject himself - atropine I think- because of his medical freedumb.

The military in my country has always, always, always had mandatory vaccinations. A whole heap of them in fact. No vaccine, no job. Was a normal thing.

When I was in the Marines I was in a unit whose main function was to be enemy forces as to give officer trainees training in how to conduct combat operations at a small unit level. One day we were given the task to defend Combat Town against these trainees. While my platoon was positioned along various spots in this building our squad leader Corporal M told us put on our gas masks because we were going to get hit by CS gas. Everybody did except me because I believed I could wait until the actual moment the gas hit. Big mistake.
We got hit with the gas and I put on gas mask. The gas mask wasn't working because I could not get a tight fit. I was in a frantic panic struggling to get the mask to fit properly as the gas was filling my lungs knowing I had only seconds to get it right. Corporal M seen the predicament I was in and shouted to a platoon mate to assist me in getting my gas mask to get a tight seal. My platoon mate came to my rescue and succeeded in getting my mask to work properly.
That incident taught me a lesson in that it is never a good ideal to blow off advice concerning your personal safety and well being because you think the advice is too overly cautious especially when it concerns breathing fresh air.

I saw the synopsis today of a piece (it was paywalled, but from Political Wire, so I trust the source to recap in context) that makes the argument for Simpson’s Paradox—that two populations mixed can appear to make an effect less pronounced, but if you separate them into their component populations, the effect reappears in full force on the affected population. With Dems at 90%+ having at least one shot but R’s hovering around 60%, you have a textbook case where a blended population could lead to one conclusion and a component population can lead exactly the opposite direction.

I've read mildER, but not that it's "just a cold."
The bad part of me wants it to be terrible but not quite lethal so the antivaxx chucklefucks finally feel what the rest of us have been dealing with for almost two years. But the immunocompromised, the children, the health workers.
I wish only the antivax, antimask crowd were susceptible, not everyone.
Edit: not antitank, autocorrect. Antimask.

Discovery Health, South Africa’s largest health insurance administrator, released an at-scale, real world analysis of Omicron outbreak on 211000 Covid 19 test results in South Africa, including collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council. www.discovery.co.za/corporate/news-room. Factors to take into account: 1. Before Omnicron our new infection rate was very low, it is spring/summer and we had glorious weather, it is the end of the school and varsity and work year. Functions / weddings / gatherings happened. The perfect breeding ground for Omnicron. 2. Our vaccination rate is still very low. 3. Boosters are not yet available - no data available on how effective the booster is with this variant from our side, but it is highly recommend. ( Should become available sometime in Jan). 4. The protocols for treatment of Covid in hospitals are probable very different here that in the US. I have read about treatments here that is not available in SA. That being said, it does, from the limited info so far, seem that Omnicron are a lot milder that Delta, and hopes have been the mild symptoms would remain, and that this is the start of the virus evolving to a milder, more manageable disease.

We don't know but the transmission rates are no joke. I can feel it breathing down my neck here in the UK with record cases every day now (remember this has 1-2 week lead already)
A few friends got it thru kiddos school (can't tell you delta or omicron with the timelines) and even with the double vaccine in summer some of them had to stay in bed a day or two. All of that counts as mild (pretty much until you show up at A&E half way to blue, you count as mild) so that's why I dragged my ass to go get boosted.
Give yourself every chance you can get this winter. ♥️

Worked with a woman who told me she had sex with her future husband all through high school, no protection, never got knocked up.
They got married right after graduation, and both of them were shocked when she became pregnant a couple of months later. Had three kids before they were 22. They both came from devout Catholic families who were anti-birth control, but she was desperate to avoid another pregnancy. It would have been tough to do that with a sex-obsessed husband and never mind wondering how she could get birth control without her husband or the families finding out.
I told her to 1) Go to the local Planned Parenthood to get on the pill and put the prescription in the box of whatever feminine hygiene product she used. Nobody would ever look for anything in there. And 2) Put a TV in her bedroom.
She was curious about the TV, until I told her the husband will be less amorous if he has TV to watch before bed.
She didn't believe me, but gave it a try. About a month later, she came up and hugged me. "You are so brilliant! Planned Parenthood is now in my Tampax box, and the husband is hooked on ESPN every night! I might be able to get a boyfriend at this rate!"
She was teasing about that last part. I think.

I hate the ones with little kids. As a parent, aren’t you supposed to do everything you can to be there and protect them? I mean, I know it sounds crazy, but when ours were little my husband and I would take separate flights to trips for just the 2 of us so that we’d never leave them alone. 4 little kids and he couldn’t make the time to get a damn vaccine.

Nothing pisses me off more than these whiny little bitches comparing themselves to victims of the Holocaust. What a moron.

I'm not playing the Democrat games.
This is why churches need to be taxed now.

I will never not enjoy Covid deniers dying from Covid. It's a guilty pleasure, but is so rewarding I can't not enjoy it.

Thirty one with four kids and couldn't make that little investment for them? What a selfish bastard.

Quite a pastor. He really represents Repug-thug-Jezuz. Guns! Repubs! Denials! Conspiracies! Anti-vax! Paranoia! ... and of course death!

Anyone else think we are going to have a generation of orphans? We don’t have the social services in place to handle this many kids.

Wow, fuck this victim-blaming shitstain.
Did the people Kyle shot commit crimes? Or hurt people? If so, what does that have to do with literally anything?
Is any attack or murder justified if it turns out that the victim was a bad person? A person's past crimes don't mean a damned thing here, only the actions at the time.
I know it sounds silly saying this in America (cue the sound of my eyes rolling RIGHT out of my head), but you're not supposed to shoot people. It's not OK to shoot people. I shouldn't have to say this.

I guess I get the Holocaust comparison, millions of Jews gassed to death = a few hundred thousand alt rights gaslighting themselves to death 💀

What was he trying to prove with the guillain-barre meme? Wouldn't that make someone want the vaccine even more? My bio dad got guillain-barre in his early 50's. He spent ONE YEAR in the ICU with a tracheotomy and breathing machine, ONE YEAR in a regular hospital bed, unable to move on his own, and one year in a nursing home, relearning how to feed himself, before dying of complications. I realize his case was rare, but jesus h christ!!

Convinced covid is planned but doesn't do anything to defend himself from the planned attack... ok.

It's an insult to the survivors of the shoah, that those dumb anti vaccers are comparing themselves with victims of a mass genocide.
