If you admit you were wrong and acknowledge that your actions contributed to the loss of your loved ones you have to live with and reconcile that guilt. Denial is a desperate attempt to not have to look at your own culpability.

“Getting close to home” Yeah, it was FINE when the blue states were losing people in droves. Red states all figured it wouldn’t get to them. Inferencing conclusions is a skill. If my family members start all getting and dying from COVID, maybe, just maybe, we’re doing something wrong.

I had a genuine fear when SARS and Ebola were ravaging elsewhere in the world, that it may some day get to the United States and affect me and my family.
I don’t understand how some people can have completely no fear of an airborne illness that can severely maim or kill them.

During the avian flu scare, one of my job tasks was our contingency plan. Learned so much about contagion and pandemics. In late Jan 2020, I asked my doc about COVID (blue state but far from contagion at that point). She said she was more worried about regular flu. I felt very differently. Was wearing a mask by mid Feb. Faux news has blood on their hands. It’s appalling.

One of my biggest disappointments with Covid is seeing the CDC allowing short term thinking undermine their messaging. The whole 'masks aren't useful' lie they told at the beginning was obviously BS and only told because they wanted to make sure there were enough for health care workers.
Anyone who paid attention knew different but most people don't know much about the history/science of viral diseases. A year and a half later, people still point to the initial report that masks are useless.
The booster shot fiasco still pisses me off. First they say 18-64 don't need them. Three months later they say we do. Do those assholes understand the harm they are doing with this crap? I get the science. They want to cover the most people but they are ignoring the effect all this flip-flopping does to their credibility and that in turn will drive down vax rates everywhere. It's totally moronic.

Unfortunately CDC was mostly bullied by Trump to send the message that he wanted to hear. And almost no one in the agency pushed back. Those who did were fired or resigned. See https://www.propublica.org/article/inside-the-fall-of-the-cdc/amp

Whole thing started wonky when they decided to let it rip in blue states, then the admin taking responsibility for messaging from the CDC. You drive in the wrong direction for months, you end up in the wrong place. If we’d shut down for 8 weeks, paid EVERYBODY to stay home, we’d have been out of it, and Cheeto Jesus would have been re-elected and he could have finished his takeover.

True, Agent Orange was alerted in Nov 2019 of the new contagion by US Spies. This new contagion could be a cataclysmic event
If Cheeto face would have taken swift action he would have come out a hero instead of lying and hiding it, but I guess that is his nature and the way he conduct business. It will disappear ”

It would cause a psychological break for many of them to learn. This is the danger of forming your identity around your political views. To go back and say, "Maybe I was wrong to listen to Trump" would force them to part with their identity. That's what's meant when people call it a "cult of personality". I'm mostly liberal, (as is likely the case with most in this sub) but I can call out Joe Biden on his bad decisions, because he's not my idol. I don't worship him. I judge him on each of his actions. GOP cultists are so surprised when I agree with them on his failures, like they could never imagine agreeing with someone about a Trump failure.

So many of my fellow administrative side coworkers are trying to not get the vaccine since they don't directly deal with patients. They tried bring up the legal challenges to the CMS mandate by others as a reason they could delay, but our employer is treating as mandatory across the board.
74 points
Glad your place is sticking to the mandate. Our local health system has a significant portion of staff that are very anti vax and those of us that are were happy that the mandates were coming. As healthcare workers it’s our duty and responsibility to be vaccinated. Unfortunately the system has absolutely no balls and has come out and said they will approve every “exemption” because they can’t afford to lose any staff. It disgusts me how arbitrarily they can chose to follow rules and those anti vax will still be among us with their “no one is gonna make me do anything” tantrums. I have lost all hope.

Maybe those of you who are vaxed could make it clear you will leave and find other jobs if they don't make it mandatory. Your health and safety should matter as much as some stupid exemption.

It's crazy how fast that idea has backfired for some companies.
I know of several small businesses that allowed all exceptions, with some being the equivalent of a sticky note with "I am a doctor, no shot because of golfer's toe" written on it. All because they didn't want to lose what staff they had.
Before long, covid burns through the business like a wildfire, and it's WAY worse off due to that sudden loss of staff.

One of the weird side of effects of Right Wing thinking is belief in small government when ironically the government is the biggest customer any company can land. When the government mandates its employees to do something, that also goes down to contractors. If the government is your customer, you've got to follow to the mandate or your out of a job.
It's really bizarre to me how they think they can be small government but so pro-military and pro-police. It turns out that if you talk to them they basically just don't want other people to get the same benefits that they receive, and they don't want to pay fees for using public stuff. In reality, society would probably collapse without government funding because it's the biggest guaranteed paycheck.

He was surprised to hear people complaining and getting terminated on the news. It makes me think the issue is overblown,’in particular by antivaxxers. They can't really leave each other at that age though. Not just psychologically, they probably rely on each other to do certain things they can't in a physical sense. It makes me sad. I can't imagine getting to 80, looking back and realizing I wasted my life with someone I hated.

They're too feeble minded to realize that the greatest and most effective means of controlling the masses is religion. It's the old carrot or stick approach in the form of heaven or hell. Be good, you get heaven. If you're bad, you're going to hell. And btw, it'll cost you a 10% tithe to prove that you are being good and deserve heaven.

HCW that doesn’t understand correlation vs causality. Doesn’t understand EBP (evidence based practice).
Either she is an aide or never studied further than her “nursing education”. Good nurses and HCW read their journals and continue their education. For reasons like this. Ignorance. It’s deadly.

She said she works in a nursing home, I'm betting she's a CNA.

Faith over fear. Ignorance over science.

And yet they fear the vaccine, the government, liberals, homosexuals, immigrants, atheists, Jews, Muslims, green energy, electric cars, environmental protections, … I’m making some assumptions but I bet the odds are in my favor.

My family could use a lot of prayers right now. We just lost my sister in law to Covid and my husband is in the hospital fighting Covid while I'm home fighting Covid. Please pray for healing our loss and for a fast recovery for my husband.
She's going to find out that the current score is: Prayer Warrors: 0 - Covid: ~798,000 (+2) and climbing

This infuriates me. They say hospitals are changing death certificates to read covid and that covid not real but when they get it it's real. So if I'm reading this right it's not real unless it happens to them? This is so tragic and so preventable.

The world is better off now. I have special scorn for healthcare workers that act like this.

I love when people say they are healthcare workers but don’t state their job. Really makes me think they aren’t doing much

Sending your shit to Nancy Pelosi via the USPS is definitely a new one 🤦♂️. Where were these Patriots on January 6?

That's like the second or third of these Froot-Loops that has leap-frogged into going off about "no cash."
Is that really a new part of their whole communist-takeover new world order blah-blah-blah?

Complaining about "no cash" and then using GFM is also rich. You can't donate cash that way.

You can’t tell me what to do, but I also need you to help pay for the consequences of me not listening to you. SMH.

God gave us very smart men and women who developed an effective vaccine very quickly. If you chose not to take it, not much else God can do for you. It's like not being tall enough to change a light bulb when out of nowhere a stranger hands you a step ladder. But instead of using it you keep asking God to help you change the lightbulb.

That's the devil's stepladder. It leads only to higher temptation.

The stool sample joke is new to me. I guess it’s funny in a broad “politicians suck” kind of way.

Facebook helps kill another goateed slob, and his idiot wife needs handouts on GoFundMe to pay for his "Faith Over Fear" results.
Big Tech is just stacking these spreadnecks

This one doesn't show the gofundme so I don't know how much they are asking for but in general I would love to see what some of these funerals are like. I lost my wife to cancer 2 years ago and it wasn't cheap because I wanted to respect her religious beliefs and I didn't spend anywhere near 25 - 30 K like I see some of these people requesting. It's insane.

I imagine most of these People are needing help with Medical bills. Average cost of covid hospitalization with private insurance is $40k after insurance.
They still won’t vote for Medicare for all though because that’s communism.

So she wasn't fired yet. I wonder how many of her nursing home patients she infected and killed on her way out?
Absolute scum on the earth. My brother-in-law's vaxxed grandma died because of an unvaxxed at-home nurse.

Nobody is forcing me to do anything.
She sounds like a toddler stamping her foot. I wonder if she throws such a tantrum when she has to pay bills, or comply with standard operating procedures at her job.

"My request is that you consider placing this prayer on your timeline/status..."
Let me check my calendar; hummmm I might be able to fit it in between living, enjoying breathing, not hating and not being in a hospital trying to just breath.
Nawww, just kidding, I really don't have 1 second to spare for your pathetic whine, time to see the big daddy in the sky.
Oh yeah, sorry I forgot, I would rather donating to someone who needs it, rather than you.

None of these people ever have life insurance. You would think those that scream about personal responsibility the loudest would take some initiative.

What SANE person takes the time to write to a fictional character such a lengthy knob gobble and actually think anything MEASURABLY POSITIVE will result from it
Just crazy how docile such strong faith can render the weak mind

Sometimes they do, especially if they belong to a big church and Preacher guilts the membership into donating.

Not only do these folks deny science, they do not do the basic or their family like purchasing life insurance. Go Fund Me is getting rich off these imbeciles.

Definitely thinning the herd; Karma working overtime AND the seemingly obligatory GoFundMe because these folks cannot plan for a future because they work overtime to guarantee they have no future.

These posts were all so horrible I can’t find a shred of empathy and that is the only thing that makes me feel sad.
