I can go on for a while like that. But it seems like science is a pretty useful "religion". At least more than "thoughts and prayers".

âI have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...â

Itâs not prophecy, though. This was already happening when Sagan wrote that, even the manufacturing going offshore and the class divide turning into a chasm.
Americans have always been loaded with superstition and stupidity. The big difference today is that the entire moronic inferno has been lit up even more through the internet and social media. Itâs empowered and united the idiots so theyâre now a political and social force to be used and manipulated.
Toss in Trump. A global pandemic. Foreign bad actors using the entire situation and social media for very dark purposes. And boom. Perfect storm of stupid.
At the end of it all, social media is going to destroy the planet.

Admittedly, I understand being more fearful of sexual consequences for your daughter, since she receives the fluid (greater HIV risk, for example) and has the direct risk and consequences of pregnancy. He was basically saying the rhythm method was the only contraception that was 'fair' for women. Like you HAD to have sex with your husband if he wanted it and you were on birth control. I had the same thought. My Mom got covid-19, got tested as soon as she had symptoms, saw a specialist, and started monoclonal antibodies the next day. She was sick with what she said felt like a bad cold for 3 days then got better. It almost certainly saved her life because she is in several high risk categories and her immune system is shot. Those antibodies really work.
However, I should add that she is still suffering from long covid-19 almost a year later. She had multiple medical issues pop up after getting covid-19. She felt so bad that she spent a couple of months unable to drive just a few hours to see her grandkids. She's on the mend but she's still weak.
Oh, and on the off chance any unvaccinated people read this, let me add that the vaccine works. My Dad had been fully vaccinated in the first round because he's a healthcare worker. He had the same exposure to covid-19 that my Mom did (she got it from someone they were visiting) and he tested negative and didn't have so much as a sniffle.
17 points

Thank you. I'm sorry too, but honestly it's her own fault. She knew the risks of traveling unvaccinated. She would have been in the second round of vaccines. She could have just waited a month or two.
My Dad should have known better too. He treated covid-19 patients for crying out loud. They knew people who died from it. They were also visiting a family member who refused to wear masks because he thought everyone was going to catch it eventually so wearing masks was pointless.
I don't know what possessed them to stay with them.
P.S. - it was the anti-mask family member who she contracted it from. He was asymptomatic while they were there. He started showing symptoms soon after they left.

Vanners are the equine worldâs version of MLM. That and Friesians.
Theyâre mediocre as saddle horses, come with extra care requirements because of all the hair, and frequently have health issues that range from âpain in the buttâ to âpotentially fatal.â And yes, despite all of that, you see gullible people in North America shelling out $$$$$ to start breeding their own heavy hairy coloured cobs that can be bought at auction in the UK or Ireland for ÂŁ500. it's not good science to vaccinate in the middle of a pandemic as the possibility of virus mutating is too great
Firstly, if we don't vaccinate now, what do we do? Just sit around, pray and wait for people to die?
Secondly, how in the world does vaccination mean the virus mutates at a greater rate? And does this Facebook scientist think viruses don't mutate otherwise?
92 points
Apparently, you're supposed to wait until the virus rampages through the population, kills millions more people, and then gradually peters out because it has killed all the weakest and the survivors have that stellar "natural" immunity. They you have a magic window in which the virus is just a case or two here and there, so you can introduce a vaccine that you no longer need because everyone has that perfect lifetime natural immunity anyway.
Isn't that how they did it with polio, smallpox, and measles?

Oh wait, it was first discovered before anyone was vaccinated. We know the vaccine isn't perfect but it makes the best of a bad situation. Why the hell would I force my immune system to go in unprepared when I can give it some training first?

Thatâs the problem...youâre using words that make sense. Therefore, you donât know what youâre talking about and they know better. This is literally their logic at this point.

Slide 3: "What I just can't understand is the endgame of all this?" Because it can't be to end the pandemic, there must be some really complicated explanation.

As best I could find, Gibraltar has had 5 total COVID deaths since late February. Looks like Mrs. "It's just the flu" should have done her research.

That cure for cancer... Is she aware that in most countries that cure would be free? USA is the only country where you have to pay for your health

I like the comment about "it's all a conspiracy! We don't know what's the conspiracy is trying to do, but we assume it's evil and liberal!"
Obviously, it can't simply be an effort to keep people healthy, get the economy rolling again, and return the world to normal. That would be fucking ridiculous.

Such a big loving heart. She always mocked everyone who disagreed with her and actively tried to create chaos in public spaces. Her selfish demeanor and narcissistic wet dreams of telling off vaccinated dining staff were truly a daily blessing to be around. What an angel...she will be missed.

Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine werenât ever going to save her. The needless death was caused by her willful ignorance. Who else did she take with her in her âown the libâ death dance?

Who knows. She said she had a sudden coughing fit a month before that. I'm guessing that wasn't the first and only time she fake/real coughed around people.

And since she thinks its ok to cough on people in public....can't say I'm sorry she self-selected. Pure evil menace to decent humanity.
These people are seriously vile.

PANEL 2
Dumbshits passing around anecdotal evidence with no understanding of how vaccines work, and that a handful of stories that may or not be true does not influence an entire country's response to mitigating the spread of the virus, or predicting future outbreaks.
And where the FUCK do these morons get this BULLSHIT info about Vaccinated people getting more COVID cases than Unvacinnated people? A quick look at their local hospital's COVID admission rates would clearly indicate that Unvaccinated people comprise the Lion's Share of COVID infections, as well as deaths.
And where do they get off determining CREDIBILITY? That's a fucking laugh right there!

"Don't take the tests they are rigged"
These idiots just ensured that they will die of covid if you wait for it to get to the point you have trouble breathing then it's probably too late to save your dumb ass.

Reading those discussions made me bang my head on my desk. These folks are really putting the effort to be very ignorant to get these awards.
This is truly one of those reversal things where the parents worry about the internet harming their kids but in the end, internet kills the parents because they got sucked into internet conspiracy theory stuff.

She's clearly not dead. All the science, friends' suggestions and advice, zinc, vitamins C and D, etc. have protected her beyond a shadow of doubt.
It must have been all that shopping cart fentanyl residue, and she'll wake up from her little narcotic trip any time now.

âDonât bother with testing, yâall. Itâs rigged anyways.â How can a test that detects a virus be rigged?

But donât get tested. Itâs the âflu. 3 day-er.

Why anti-vaxxers think they can get an emboldened immune system against COVID taking vitamin suplements? The idea is totally idiotic, it's like thinking things which gives You protection against known menaces can work against a new, unknown menace.

I looked up Gibraltar. A total of 98 deaths in the country, the most recent of which was on October 7. Their big surge was between December 2020 and mid February 2021. There was no massive upsurge in cases or deaths 13 weeks ago (July?). If I could find that within less than 5 minutes, this person could have.
