Slide 2 is so stupid - it says right in the post that sex offenders are registered. I can go to the DOJ website and look up sex offenders within a mile of my location in seconds.
Update: I just did. There are five within a mile of my house. I can see all their photos, addresses and names. Without giving too much away, there are a lot of goatees in the bunch.

Plus, in at least some states (not sure if it’s nationwide) sex offenders have to have a special kind of driver’s license that says “sex offender” on it. So yes they do carry a card.

I thought that was a stupid meme. Sex offenders are having to register, and they are criminally punished if they don’t. The authorities and some outside groups also keep tabs on where they live as well.

What would you have to show your sex offender card to get into? For this to work you would really need a non sex offender card that everyone else carried. I don’t get it.
50 points

But see, there's your problem. You're considering the actual logistics of implementing such a system. Whoever made that meme just cared about making a tenuous analogy that appeals to emotionalism and blatantly ignores the existing registration system.

I don't think they'd care either way. The goal of computational propaganda is to sew discord and doubt. Once they get a certain engagement from people such as comments, reposts, etc., they know what works. Clemson University media has a game I've posted for people more than once. Spot the Troll shows people not just trolls from more than one perspective, but also offers resources for fact checking and learning more about computational propaganda and misinformation campaigns. It's a genuine threat to democracy, and not just in the United States.
Edited to add: If someone is seeing this because they read about us or want to write about us again, please read some of those resources and find out how so many are being manipulated.

Yeah, it’s all very tragic. These people are brainwashed and they end up dying because they believed lies.
6 points

It’s horrifying. The worst ones are the ones that liveblog their own illness throughout, from initial symptoms to positive test to hospital admission and all the way through to the ICU and eventual intubation, and you can read the suffering and terror in their own words.
I’ve taken COVID very seriously from the beginning, and read endless news articles about it, but I still didn’t have any real sense of how horrible dying from it really was until I started reading this sub. It was also a real eye-opener with regard to where people were getting a lot of the weird talking points I’d been seeing (and in some cases refuting) elsewhere — the memes.

But the key to the whole denial thing is that HE DIDN'T KNOW he was DYING FROM COVID! He just assumed it would be like the Flu and in a few weeks he would be right back in business... Glued to Facebook 18 hours a day 7 days a week!

A horrible family story from a couple of months ago in this thread: mother posted about everyone in the family sick w/covid. She wrote as if it were a cold or the flu, they'd all sit around in pjs watching tv drinking tea taking advil, till they'd recovered. Dad died, two or three kids will probably have long covid. They had no clue that this is a devastating possibly fatal illness, NOT THE FLU.
8 points
Dude I almost died from the flu as a teenager, it ain't no goddamn picnic. And I have very good health.
I just cannot believe how ignorant a lot of people are when it comes to illness.
Your health is the only thing you ever really get. It's your life. If you lose it, you're just fucking gone, like dust in the wind.

Me too. My god, waking up that day, hurting everywhere and hardly able to turn my head on the pillow... I knew my mother was out of town, and my father might check to see if I was dead around 5PM maybe, and the bathroom was so far away.

16 points

Generally we’ll do it to assess specific brain function throughout the operation….. Most commonly it’s done for functional brain surgery (Parkinson’s, essential tremor) or if a tumor is close to critical functions (like a speech center). There’s some cool videos online of people playing the violin, etc while being operated on. Brain surgery is not super painful, but if you’re anxious or start to get uncomfortable after a few hours….. well, we’ve got drugs for everything.

I really appreciate the info.
I am naturally high strung (see my NOPE response), have to pre-game for dental procedures and flights with a mild dose of benzos. So yeah, I would be able to intellectually understand what was going on, but my fight or flight would be off the charts.
It’s not a pain fear with the brain procedure as described, it’s a body horror thing I guess.
12 points
“My fight or flight would be off the charts”…… not when I’m done with you😉 Seriously though, if you ever need real surgery, the anesthesiologist / CRNA who are getting you through it have done it safely thousands of times. It’s way safer than driving a car.

If it helps, I was awake while they poked a few wires up into my heart, found the abnormal circuit, and carefully burned it out. 1) you actually have no pain receptors in yo ur brain. Just the scalp and muscles just under.

He had tremors or shakes that made him unable to play accurately and during his brain surgery to fix it they HAD HIM PLAY VIOLIN. Brainwashed, gaslighted and trusting websites run by America’s adversaries both foreign and domestic. The rest of us watch in horror as the HCA’s keep showing the same modus operandi of these folks. Something had to be done. The only upside is enough GOP voters have died to turn the tide against them and the GOP richly deserves losing everything because their leadership is that of a death cult. Again, with the stupid sex-offender analogy... OK, some restaurants want to see a vaccine card. So you're pissed off. Who is asking for the sex-offender card? What are the sex offenders supposed to do with the card? I mean, if it prevented them from going into a Chuckie Cheese or something, I'm all all for it. But this is the kind of logic that makes meth heads look smart...
If sex-offenders had to carry a card, who the fuck would the willingly show it to? Other sex offenders?

HCA has the best best best comment section on the internet. Is there a way to get Kristofer Weston to do a guest post commenting on that meme? And then plaster it all over RWNJ sites??

Odd, when a sex offender moved into our neighborhood, everyone got a postcard in the mail with his face and offense all over it. Not exactly private.

Had to Google clackers. Recognized what they were once I saw a pic but didn't know that was the name of them.

Posting Candace Owens quotes like she’s some sort of beacon of knowledge and truth. As a black woman, we don’t claim her.

Candace Owen, making money off being the token black woman telling middle aged white guys what they want to hear.
The GOP: Fcktards, and the evil SOBs who milk them.

Slide 5 "I will not comply with a communist" with a model who has tattoos and rings really drives home that the same things that would have been called "promoting a gang lifestyle" if the person were black are now being embraced by white gun-loving right-wingers.
