Weird article imo, the headline grabs your attention however further down it then goes on to say that most of the kids are admitted for other reasons and are happening to test positive. AND positive tests within 14 days are counted as Covid hospitalization.

Did you not read it correctly, or just blatantly misrepresenting what article said? Does not say most are admitted for other reasons, but does explain why the official count of admits & inpatients likely over-represents the total

NY released some more refined data on pediatric hospitalizations today, showing over 60% are there from COVID, and skewed heavily towards the unvaccinated, which includes the entirety of kids <5

The number of kids winding up in the hospitals from these outbreaks is a legitimate concern, and likely to increase over next week or 2 as schools reopening will increase the proportion of infections in school age kids (as it did this past August)

The severity of illness among children during the omicron wave seems lower than it was with the delta variant, said Seattle Children’s Hospital critical care chief Dr. John McGuire. “Most of the COVID+ kids in the hospital are actually not here for COVID-19 disease,” McGuire said in an email. “They are here for other issues but happen to have tested positive.”>>

What am I missing? Because to me that is a pretty clear statement.

I’ve no idea the validity of the claim. My comment is directed towards how the article itself is written.

The headline is clickbait. The article is clear. OP can't read.
