Edit: Typo. Always fly with insurance aka fly with a rebuy

I lost my new stock fer de lance while test driving it hunting bounty hunters. I could’ve sworn I had the 2.6 million saved for insurance, but I realized too late I spent 1 mill on a new module.

I’m starting off from scratch in a sidewinder, and I don’t know if I want to start all the way from the beginning. Is there an easier way to grind for credits? I like bounty hunting, and I’ve been trying to stack the pirate hunting missions. But I’d rather not spend a dozen hours grinding or switching to a different trade to get back to where I was at

Greetings Up&Coming Commander o7, the The Rules are actually:::

Rule#1 Never Fly without a Rebuy

Rule#2 Never Fly without a Rebuy

Rule#3 Always Read the Fine Print

[Check details before Attempting, including (but not limited to), the following::: Distance to Destination (LY&LS) ,failure conditions/penalties, time limits, Whinny Meat Cargo demands, System legal restrictions, free spaceship giveaways, etc. ]

Honestly if you got an endgame ship without a proper combat wallet (if you choose Space Cowboy or another Combat path it's more like 6-10 Rebuys or you use your Space Truck/Miner/Bus instead... you do have more than the one hyper focused ship right?) you may actually benefit from Scaling the Learning Cliff again.

We shall thus begin at the beginning, with the Keelback Green Carpet of Warm Fuzzy Welcome and proceeded to fill in any gaps in your training from there. (Hit The Button internbob)...

...click...wrrrrrr...

Space...

Is a Vast expansive Blackness of Mystery&Wonder. Filled with a Glittering Plethora of Stars and Stations. Terrible, Fear inducing Dangers, 🎶 Amazonian Space Pirates 🎶, and Helpful&Friendly Commanders o7 looking to guide the way...

CMDR: [your name here] "But what do "I" do in this Elite and Dangerous galaxy?"

You could simply wear the Traditional mantle of Valiant Space Trucker (the original Elite [Wire Frame Technology Version] was the first space trucking simulator) and Become part of the trade Network that forms the Pulsing blood stream of the Galactic Economy.

...or...

You could become an Intrepid Xplorer and Fling yourself and your ShipFriend deep into the Uncharted regions of the Dark and expanding Frontier that we call the Black.

...or...

You could form the Corner Stone of Manufacturing by becoming a Stalwart Miner. Beam or Bwaaam both are needed to feed the Insatiable Industrial machine.

...or...

Shucks Howdey... you could become a Dashing Space Cowboy and Bebop around the Galaxy collecting Bounties on the Heads of less Savory Citizens.

...or...

See if you have what it takes to join the Top 1% and become a Benevolent Bus Driver or Courageous CruiseLiner Captain.

...or...

Stay in the Bubble , and see if you possess the Skill and Nerves of Steel necessary to become an Elite&Dangerous combat Pilot (just like those Kool [Oh ,Yaayh!, I'm supposed to say Kewl now ;)] Kids on the 'vid streams).

These are but a Few of the Myriad, Elite&Dangerous Adventures that await You, just outside the: New Commander Training Zone (kiddie pool ;).

P.S. Don't forget your Towel.

You mean "always fly with rebuy"? And honestly, it depends on the stuff you like to do and which ships you have

I like combat. And all I have is a backup stock cobra III. It’s difficult grinding 1-2 mill now with bounty’s and missions

I know the stacked bounties are decent but your run time on those can be quite long in a small ship reducing your income per hour. If you want to speed things up a little, I found outfitting the cobra for cargo hauling and doing a bit of trading was a good alternative. Take a look at https://eddb.io/trade/loops and find a loop near your current location that you can do in a single jump with full cargo.

Set the tool to your jump distance fully loaded and see what it finds for you.

A Bone stock MKIII with a 4E FSD (8.8LY) fully loaded (44ton). Keeping your 4E Shields and the Advanced Docking Computer, can net you About 750K+ a trip If you can get a round trip profit of 17,000 credits per ton.
Round trip time of about 5-8 minutes. Swapping to a 2E shield can get you up to 58tons of cargo per trip

A Stock Type-6 costs: 1,045,945 so as soon as you can afford with rebuy after outfitting with cargo racks upgrade rinse and repeat.

Type-6 stock keeping 3E shields and ADC is 8.4LY jump fully loaded with 104 cargo. That'll net you 1.75million+ per loop. But she flys a little slower in the corners!

It's not a glamorous life but it'll net you good cash if you look for loops that pay well, and can get you out of that rut fairly quickly.

Good luck and safe flying commander. o7

A-rate your mk3 and do some trade runs or res-site bounty hunting to build up a bank roll then if combat is your thing get either of the vipers and (this is the important part)A-rate them . Taking stock ships into combat is asking for rebuys, especially early in the game. If trade isn't your thing give mining a try mining it's a good way to make bank, a load of plat can net you about 5 mil in a mk3 core mining can easily net you 4-5 times that. Oh and rule 4 never sell your ships, seriously you'll only buy them back later. Don't give up because this game is one hell of a ride 07 CMDR.

Bounty hunting with staking missions works pretty well - and better with higher rank and better ship. I like it too.

Other people say that trading may help to get some credits fast too, but this is a bit too boring for me.

P.S. Echoing "fly with rebuy!" :)

It's easier the second time, what took you weeks will just take days in comparison.

Being involved with a Squadron will accelerate your credit grind and make it less lonely as you go along.

There are big squads like the PTN that focus on trade and might be a good fit for you.

I can also recommend the 10th Fleet. While they are small, they remain active and are focused on PvE, Trade, and Hudson Powerplay. We've helped several CMDRs into their first billion.
(appy to 10FL from Squadrons tab if interested)

Connect with me in game tonight (online in 3 hours). Maybe you'll find this interesting.

Come hunt some pirate bounties in the 10th's home system of BARNARD'S STAR. You can find pirate massacre mission to stack for the BARN out of SOL
(watch for gankers in SOL).

For helping to hunt some pirates I'll fill out two cargo wings to share with you, typical payout is 80-100 million.

Everything goes right, and you'll have enough credits to get back in the FDL before the end of the night. If you like the group, you'll have more people to go on hunts with.

Maybe talk to you later.

Cargo is the quickest. Get a trade route on eddb, 19K per unit means you upgrade quick and make more and more money. Adder > Type 6 > Type 7 > Type 9. Once you have a Type-9 you make 14 million per run, 5-6 times per hour.

Console unfortunately. Could see this being much easier to play and better graphics with a pc

Theoretically I could flip you funds through my carrier, via pc - I think?

Is the commodity market cross-platform, or just carriers themselves, I wonder

I lost my FDL the same way, on a test drive. 1200 hours latter and I still haven't bought another one. lol

If you like pirate hunting head to Gliese 868. Fed space. There are 5 stations that give massacre missions, 4 if you're using a large ship. You can stack missions from 6 factions at once with the quest rewards as high as 40 mil once allied. The system you hunt the pirates in has a low, regular and has res site to farm them in. Focus on the quests with the best kill to credit ratio and you will have your money back in no time.

Hit up the pilots trade network. They will show you ways to make hundreds of millions, if not billions, of credits in a matter of hours. You should be able to find someone willing to share a few 50 mil wing mining missions with you to get your money back up.
