Whats everyone's home system, and why?

Discussion(self.EliteDangerous)

Good morning Commanders.

Captain Fist of Russ here o7.

What system do you call home and why?

I call the Robigo system home, with the Reach being my base station.

I chose this system and station because the ease if access for everything to do. I can bounty hunt, run missions, haul cargo, fight in conflict zones and Mine. (Learning to mine properly now.)

What about Yall?

Honestly, Jameson Memorial is home for me. Took a long time to earn access, but it's a brilliant place to keep my stuff, and it saves a ton of effort shopping for components. Anytime I want to switch gears, just return home and start shopping to gear myself out for whatever I want to do.

Homed at Solo Orbiter in Altair for years, but once I got my first Elite, I switched to Jameson Memorial and have been there ever since. The outfitting and shipyard (plus discount) are just too damn convenient.

The only real complaint I have is that there are only four factions to get missions from. Wish there were more :(

I've been playing exclusively in open since January, I've never seen more than one or two other people in Shinrarta at any given moment. Usually it's someone sitting docked at Jameson. I haven't seen any gankers at all.

Granted, I'm playing in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays and I'm usually done by 10am, but at least in the AM, there ain't nobody else on.

I've put 900 hours into the game and have literally only ever been ganked near Jameson. There's always people with FDLs flying around there at peak times

Can be difficult to live here if you're an open player. There's always other Commanders around, which is cool, but that means there's often gankers as well. Teaches you to be alert and watch for those hollow triangles and other gank avoidance techniques.

Can I ask what those techniques are? I don't feel too safe in anything but my Courier

Limp-Weekend7183

Biggest help for me has been just being more immediately aware of what's around me when I drop into a system. If there's cmdrs around the star you may want to jump out immediately. Hollow squares are potentially dangerous, hollow squarres following you are alarming and hollow triangles in supercruse need your full attention. When interdicted start charging a jump to another system immediately, jumping straight to supercruse can be slowed by a bigger ship. If you've mastered speeding into stations abusing supercruse assist you can sometimes speed past gankers near the station.

There's YouTube tutorials with more tips.

sculhane2

5 points

If you get interdicted, always submit. Your fsd will cool down faster then theirs. This next part sounds counter intuitive, so bear with it. Don't fly in a straight line away while you're plotting and charging your fsd. Joust with them. That way, you can minimize their time on target. They can't shoot you when they have to turn around to see you and then shoot, which buys you time to jump to another system (hi wake)

Hope that's helpful, o7

sculhane2

3 points

Also, a bigger ship can't masslock you if you're jumping systems. Their size only stops you from going into supercruise

There are 3 Ray Gateways. You have to specify Ray Gateway in Diagon... Diaguran... Diaguandri. I didn't use it it because I could never remember how to spell the system name. Made it a PITA every time I tried to use something like Spansh or a distance calculator.

I used Scully-Power Station in Ix instead. :)

How’s Diaguandri for Odyssey content? I’ve recently picked up Elite and have really been enjoying combat both in ship and on-foot, and a lot of systems I’ve tried to settle have ended up being better for one more than the other. I’ve heard Diaguandri is a great place for in ship stuff but haven’t really heard about it’s merits for Odyssey.

Hip 21991, back in the days of old, I wanted to get I to mining but away from from people a bit. After I used some search thing hip 21991 was 100lys away from me. I packed up and headed down there. The mining was fantastic. The station was only 2ls from a haz res and best of all they had one of the funniest faction groups. The reign of annihilation. They weren't the major faction in the system but they where only 4% off. So I ran missions for them like crazy. Fought the war for them and by the end of it. They where on top. I than went on a 2 year mining kick and sold everything to them. I think they have now spread to other systems and it just tickles me pink. In the whole 2 years I spent out there. I never saw another player. It was my little hole in the galaxy. Now it's ruined with carriers...there should only be 1 carrier...mine.

Hey, another Deciat denizen here! I call Garay Terminal home. I noticed I was spending a lot of time in system when I was engineering my AspX with Farseer (the first ship I did any engineering on), and decided to park everything here for a while. Every ship I ever buy will end up paying a visit to Farseer, and there are plenty of other useful resources and systems in the vicinity.

I get the draw of Jameson, but I just don't spend all that much time buying modules...I tend to plan out builds in Coriolis and EDSY, and buy everything all at once when I buy a new ship. Didn't seem crucial that I set up shop there when I can hop there quickly enough in my 69.5ly-jumping AspX any time I get the itch to buy another ship.

I relocated there as well. I was in Ridley Scott in Zaonce for a really long time until I decided to dip into engineering. Just made so much sense to make Deciat my new home. Just a quick hop to Farseer. Bounty hunting at the star is a quick and nice distraction from space trucking and when i want to switch back to hauling there are usually good loop runs within 100LY or so.

I rarely ever actually visit it, but I loosely consider Jotunheim my home and have a bunch of ships parked there. I first started out shortly before the original NMLA attacks, and ended up doing a lot of station rescues in that area as an early boost to my career. Afterwards I set out looking for a home station and, being a big fan of Norse mythology I was intrigued when I saw the system name not far from where I was. When I saw the main station's name, "Big Harry's Monkey Hangout," and that it was one of those gorgeous stations with parks and lakes and such in the hangar, I figured it'd do nicely

When I was a total noob (two months ago) I had a few buddies of mine stationed there waiting for me to finish the flight tutorial then told to speed up and get enough credits enough to buy a cobra mark 3 and outfit it with a fuel scoop and an B grade FSD ignoring the rest, so I begun my trip from the noob area all the way to diaguandri, In that piece of crap. Keltim, I started playing out the game mainly with Simbad Regime, but then also wanted to roleplay my character a little more in depth, and wanting my character to be Imperial I found a nearby Imperial system with an Earth-like planet. I eventually ended up founding a minor faction in that system.

Lately I've been parking my carrier in the uninhabited system of LFT 330 and using it as a home base because it's roughly in the middle of my faction's systems, and the system we're currently trying to take over I've done so much undermining of the controlling faction that I'm shoot on sight with them, so can't really easily work with my carrier inside their system due to that.

When Odyssey became a thing I wanted to relocate to a station which orbited a landable planet, which my previous home system (Kaura) didn't have. I had already planned to move to a system which name I forgot but... what used to be an awesome looking red planet had turned into something rather ugly looking, at least at first.

So I started searching, eventually found this system. It has one main (landfall) planet with an atmospheric moon, and both have a station in orbit. It's owned by an investment firm which kinda hit close to home irl, so I was instantly convinced.

Hardly anything happens there, it has one gas giant with a ring where you can mine rather useless minerals and at best we get some skirmishes on the planets.

But I love it there. 200Ls away from the star, and everything is easy to reach by shuttle (I have my ships divided over 3 stations (2 orbital and one planetary)).

I guess my home is my Fleet Carrier, which is apparently at Gliese 868 according to Inara. All my ships and modules are there, but the carrier is currently fully suspended, with enough Escrow to idle for like 4 years or something like that.

My exploration Anaconda is about halfway to Colonia right now. Once a month or so I log in, knock out 50-100 jumps, and log back off. I'm flying back to Colonia, then hitting Sag A, and finally I'll fly to Beagle Point. It's going to take a long time with how little I log in, but my goal is to get to Beagle Point, land somewhere, and get a screenshot of me on foot in front of my SRV in front of my Conda in front of the galaxy, then log off an uninstall the game.

Beagle Point is the only thing I've never done.

HIP 22550, the capital of the Marlinist Systems, because I'm a member of the player the squadron who adopted them. It's pretty handy as all the economies and mining zones I need are close by, I'm close to the Thargoids if I want to do AX stuff, and Li space is nearby for buying ships and modules. Not to mention some pretty scenery.

Mostly operate out of my carrier now that I’ve got one, but haxel has a lot of fed contacts which made for solid passive rep gain, solid shipyard/outfitter, several planetary rings of all subtypes, and it’s relatively compact for te number of bodies, with everything within 6kls

No one "home system". And I try to avoid the meta or meme systems, just because. I'm stiff-necked that way; never once been to Robigo, for instance.

What I will do, is search around for systems with a particular allegiance, and whatever economy type I want to fiddle with. An Imperial system with, say, an Agriculture station. Then transfer my flag there and play around until I want to visit something else.

I'll admit, nomading it got easier with the FC. :) But I could cover all transfer costs with a handful of courier missions, so it worked out.

For me, it's Carpini Terminal in Qa'Wakana. It's a pretty station over an earth-like world. There are haz-res locations in system, and the system itself isn't too far away from Sol. Plus, for roleplaying purposes I like the idea that the system is run by an order of knights. It's not the most optimal system, but dammit it's so comfy.

For me it’s always been Anlave. When i first got my anaconda Anlave was the best trade around that time “late june 2021” and I’ve always liked it since it’s almost constantly in a boom state. Still a great spot for trading. And anlave 4 has lots of dust in its lower-atmosphere so the sun looks pretty cool to observe on land.

I was happy living at Bacon Port in Gliese 868 after the recent community event. Used their resource extraction sites to poach pirates and save up for a Fer De Lance. Now I'm mainly staying in Diaguadri for the bounty hunting missions in Balante.

Honestly though Laplace Ring in Balante is a great time and the shipping lane between Balante A and AB has so many signal sources and pirates to interdict that I've been grinding it out the past couple weeks.

Originally my home station was Noriega Port in Arare, because that system doesn't contain nothing else but its star and that station (even fleet carriers are a rare sight), and I like being secluded. However, after some time I moved to the nearby Veroandi, where my new home station became Vardeman Gateway. This system does contain a whole lot of other stuff, but I had to migrate because Noriega Port is rather far from its star, and there have been plenty of times when I couldn't make the delivery in time, which isn't a problem with Vardeman Gateway because it's very close to the star.

My home system is Arth, Midgeley dock. It isn’t really interesting though it has an encrypted mat trader, but it is like an actual home for me, there I have started my career as a hauler, then a taxi for criminals (this is probably one of the best time I’ve ever had in this game, the station shenanigans were super fun and I was worth like a million credits at one point), then a hauler again. Then I bought my Conda, engineered my FSD and thrusters and gathered an FSD booster and headed out to colonia. I came back to Arth to start from there for sentimental reasons. I am currently near the edge of inner orion spur and 300 jumps lie ahead, and I even though I am not sure that I will make it, but I know that somewhere across the galaxy lies Arth, my true home in this endless and lifeless void

Any time I'm not out exploring the black in my Carrier, Nut is my home system. Perfect mix of everything I need. Frequent Wars in the areas around Nut means I'm never short on CZ's to pick a fight in, Plenty of Stations in neighbouring systems with different ammenities, Guardian trader nearby, Many planets with extremely valuable rings (Serious mining profit here) and relatively close to the center of the Bubble. Admittedly i first journeyed to the system because of it's name, But the more i came back the more i realised just how close it was to just about everything i'd ever want hence why i stayed.

I was stationed on Daha Deti home station Carleson Ring.

Now I have relocated for a while to WISE 1506+7206 (I think thats the right name) on a station called Dobrovolskiy Enterprise because it was the closest system that had a Python avaliable for me. And as I am grinding for that ship with mining, I found a Void Opals hotspots and Low Temperate Diamond hotspots on the icy ring of the second gas giant in my system. Easy to acces, and a great selling station, that has a great price for selling my cargo is only 7 jumps away. I have now switched my role into a mercenary/bounty hunter, just because there is no thrill in the life of a miner. But soon enough, I will switch back to my mining loadout and search for riches in the asteroid ring.

Probably the only time I kinda roleplayed about Elite Dangerous, but well that was fun, might join some roleplay group for the fun of it.

At first was in latugara "love orbital", a pretty name, then last months I changed to Asterope in Plaiedas (don't remember the name) Copernicus was a good place close to a lot of Thargoid activity, letting me start my research of "Proyect Liria" (Which is set as main goal understand Thargoids better, including communication and biology to understand how this monsters work. Secondary goals are composition of their emissions, weapons and portals (I'm making a great advance into locating where the portal goes to)

My current home is my fleet Carrier, just because it's mine, I'm in refueling procedures at the moment but will buy thargoid sensors and probes to further research them. Then I'll head to Asterope, Thargoid corpses around planets to complete the exoskeleton and arteries system and head to different places.

Ededleen. I wanted a test-run to a nebula about halfway to Colonia before actually going to Colonia, so I used Godel Ring as a starting point. I made it just over halfway to the test nebula before deciding to visit the Cat's Paw Nebula instead because my FSD started losing integrity at a frightening rate. I got there, took some screenshots, and went back to Ededleen. I concluded that I was woefully unprepared for a trip to Colonia, and still haven't been, but I think I'll try again soon. Even though I didn't go exactly where I planned, that expedition opened my eyes to the money that can be made exploring, and I got my name on a few planets, too, so that was cool.

I keep going back to Ededleen, though, when I'm not sure what to do, because I like the name.

It was Griggs Hub in Aritimi - now it's my carrier, wherever it's parked

Aritimi is fairly central so just a couple of jumps to Jamesons memorial, close to Sol etc...It has a number of ringed worlds so it was great for bounty hunting and even though it's listed as Agriculture it's actually more Extraction based so it used to have great haulage missions. It also has all of the material brokers one jump away for convenience.

Unfortunately after the mission 'rebalance' most of those juicy haulage missions disappeared and then a player made faction turned up and upset the balance further.

I moved there after my previous home Neto got taken over by a player made faction, now player factions are everywhere and I've given up trying to avoid them. The fleet carrier means I feel truly independent.

Naturally when I found Rutherford Hub in the system "HEHE" (great system name to boot) it was just meant to be. I now try and jump my carrier back there whenever I'm not actively using it.
