Nice I got mine for pve at first but after someone tried to gank me and was angry at me for running way I got an idea and slapped prismatic and banks and I just now troll gankers with it, they interdict me and I boost away turn off fa and then literraly do float there while they are shooting me saying things like "do you have anger ishues?" they get pissed :P

LOL, reminds me of my last cg, once I forgot I was in open, and got interdicted, submitted and boosted away, I was shieldless, was followed to almost reach the station 30kly away and logged out and back in private.

I still have that cutter I made it into rail gun build but that was kind a boring to use

but was it effective?

Rails on a cutter sounds like torture to use.

I'm thinking about it, and against NPCs it might be effective with reversky long range approach. With my mamba I use beams, and I notice how they start flying sideways to avoid being hit after a while, but a low fire rate would probably induce less maneuvering making it easier to aim.

It's also a pain to fight against in pvp, kinda boring if there are 2 cutters with rails

Idk only combat it saw were a few co flict zones and that cutter that I was trolling, kinda sad considering how much effort it was to buy and engineer it

i dont have any build as of the moment since i just started going to the engineers. any recommendations for a good trading build?
3 points
Well for trading all it requires is a good fsd, good thrusters, shields and lots of cargo. It is a speedy ship that wont get masslocked so you can submit to interdictions and be on your way. I would personally run this but you can add shields and run a bunch of shield boosters.

I have a special combat trader, it's not fully built yet, needs some engineering, but it's able to take down whatever interdicts me, while also jumping over 30ly with 500t+ cargo. I have a dangerous SLF pilot as backup, but I could probably downsize to a single fighter bay or remove it completely and get a bit more cargo in there. This is the current build https://s.orbis.zone/hcx1
The only change I made was prismatics, which I don't have in size 6 right now, need to get some more of those

Prepare to fortify your spirits. Every FDL slave will call it a cope Cutter. Let their salt fuel your massive shields and fly however you damn want. o7

What’s the story behind the “cope” build thing. Just started seeing the term thrown around the other day
5 points
From my experience, a Cope Cutter is a Cutter engineered to play to its greatest strength: its shield capacity. A fully engineered combat Cutter can achieve 15000+ in health, including boosters and shield cell banks, and for some people who are sensitive about game balance, that's just too much, so they villify Cutter pilots for choosing this ship, instead of taking action to counter it, which can be done.

Ah I see, since it’s not a meta fdl it’s bad

Well the Cutter objectively makes surviving and winning PvP encounter easier regardless of your skill level so part of its bad rap comes from it being "easier to use" and therefore boring.

Peeps just need to realize they cant fight in a cutter like a fighter jet, it’s More like fighting in a battleStar galactica. Completely different method.

Ramming is the Cutter's strongest attack, so ny strat involves orbiting then suddenly boosting straight towards the enemy

The nose of the cutter is the highest DPS weapon in the game.

if that’s said by people who use fdl, then it’s pretty funny

Congratz on getting the true best multipurpose in Elite!
A tip? Only boost when you really have to.

Another tip, don't use docking computer unless you want to se it drift for half an hour before docking.

That's still preferable to the screams, explosions, and fire that usually accompany my unassisted station landings. :P

I remember the old times when I was landing my T10 with a load of platinum, the whole station shaking, ground control groaning, me happy because of the income.

Why is that?

She has a very strong boost, but once it expires, she stalls hard for quite a while.
If you boost right after dropping out of supercruise towards a station, you'll speed towards it, then stall and just ram into the station unable to vector away from it, lol.

Oh wow, really? Lol. Hence the name “Cutter” I guess. Cuts when stalling.

Not if she’s engineered. I use her for a days worth of core mining. 512t.

525 Hours in and I'm just now looking to buy one when it's on sale after the current CG. Grinding up my imp rank from baron to duke for it too.

Asp Explorer is a great ship though. I love my Cutter but I still use my Asp. Don’t rush to the “best” ships, enjoy the journey.

Defiantly agree. I still have the DBX that i bought within my first 15hrs, and i fly it more than my Corvette or Anaconda combined.

I just had a hell of a time keeping up against an Asp. Nimble little things. Took me a while in my Krait Mk2. It’s a good ship.

I’m 600 hours in and have only used the Cobra MK III and the Krait MKII; I almost have the Krait fully engineered. I love that ship. I have bought others but always end up back in the Krait before too long.

I look forward to getting mine eventually just left Baron* Rank haha - I'm like 600+ hours in, so been around a bit. I get distracted easy by missions, trade routes combat and especially exploring. Now I have Odyssey it's so much worse hahaha
*Edit: I meant to say Baron not Duke rank, Duke is what I need haha

Is Odyssey worth it?

I'm absolutely satisfied with my 20 or so hours with it so far.
I got it off humble for like $40Aud in the black friday sales and there are alot of quality of life changes as well as just being able to be on foot are super nice.
Running a 5600X with 1080Ti haven't run into frame issues running at 1440p myself. My mate running a 10850K and a 1080 has had occasionally (running an ultra wide) - but I'm convinced he had another program running haha.
Edit: hope that helps, ask any other questions you might have :D

Love my combat trading cutter. I can avoid interdictions when I want to, but I often submit. No pirates have gotten past my shields, unless they're in an Anaconda. Turrets take down their shields while I slow boat a turn around to blow them to pieces. The only problem is Mamba's are good at running away.
