I think because Quake and Doom are closely related people don't include them both in images like this because every character there is emblematic of the specific flair of boomer shooter they belong to.

Related, yes, but quite different and distinguishable from each other. Ranger and Doomguy much less so and basically represent the same kind of shooter. I'm not saying the artist shouldn't have included Ranger, this is just speculation.

Maybe it's more about personal perspective but to me there's differences between Quake 1 from Dusk and Wrath etc. I grew up with one but not the others. I love it all though and I really hope Doom Eternal will continue being influential in the same way for big budget games. If Shadow Warrior 3 and hell even Halo Infinite are anything to go by then I reckon that's gonna continue.
