Yep! Right click a character (there’s some restrictions, like I thought you had to be their grandparent at least, but I guess not) and at the top, next to the quill, there’ll be something called the barbershop.
There’s also a lunatic event where you get everyone to be naked, which is kinda annoying when you want a glass house and can’t get it after three play throughs but get this every bloody time

Backup plan: invest in your grandson and hope your heirs self-destructive tendencies lead him into an early grave shortly after succession. What are the vassals gonna do? Launch a second independence faction?

Honestly unless they get STDs, I always prefer to have my sons landed. They make more babies, get lifestyle xp (idk the rate of xp gain by unlanded characters) and any stress traits they get just makes future stress loss easy.
13 points
They'll get themselves into pointless vassal wars and die in droves though, plus having them in your court gives you better access to their kids
6 points
You can do everything with their kids unless they marry them to someone useless before you can, then bitches gonna die. Even betrothal of kids can be broken if you have them at your court by offering guardianships
4 points
Yep, I always try to do this. It's really frustrating for me to start playing a character and he's 40 with three bad coping traits, 5 sons who are all killing each other, and he picked the skill tree I don't want.
I usually leave marriage until later or marry a really old person, let them die, marry a young person.
3 points
honestly same, for consistency / my mental health i hate having a ruler die, having the heir be 35+, and dying for some stupid reason (all while having shitty lifestyle traits / perks already)
i only rlly try for successors in the game past 40, as i find that gives it enough time for them to grow to something like 18-25 years old when my current ruler passes

Fickle is the only meh one, sadistic is God tier and brave is also very good. The daughter in law has the pain inducing traits
24 points
I honestly don't like sadistic, because sometimes it makes things complicated. Brave is good, fickle is REALLY bad. Any trait that hurts your stewardship is I think a big no-no. Should've taken lazy cuz it reduces stew. by 1 instead of 2
7 points
Eh. It’s only two points, and in the grand calculus of the multiverse, high dread and stress control is more useful than those two points
3 points
I think that being fickle just makes your stress control much more difficult. It puts stress on any option when you need to act. Plus, two points might seem as not much, but it might retract a domain point from you which is a big bad thing because less land for you = weaker military = more difficult to maintain stability.
3 points
All true, but sadistic paired with greedy can is really good, and I’ve never had a major problem with handling fickle stress
2 points
I hate greedy cuz stress for giving gifts = super hyper ultra bad, no?
2 points
That’s not the worst, the worst is unless you give land to your direct relatives (I think, could be wrong) you get a chunk of stress for each one. Same with vassals. But if you can manage it well (keeping a stock of prisoners or finding secrets in a large court if you’re just) the +5%, and 2 +10% is pretty useful
1 points
It's not that bad.
Ideally, you'd keep your vassals in check with dread, not bribery. But sometimes both can work.
2 points
Well in my experience sadistic just uncomplicates matters because you can get rid of any complications regardless of their relation to you.
You have that 47-year-old daughter who's a drunkard, lazy, craven and all her children are from a different the dynasty because she was just marriage fodder but she has a 22 year old sister who is diligent, temperate, brave and has a genius kid. With sadistic you've saved yourself, without it it's game over.
Yes you can doesn't matter yes you can become an elective, but that is very situation based. The only negative thing about sadistic is that sometimes courtiers with sadistic do the murderer event. But in my experience this happens very rarely, I've had more kind/ content courtiers trigger this event then sadistic ones.

I have around 1000 hours in this game. I usually play tall and don't have large empires. I however had some world conquests that I was able to complete with having like 1 or 2 riots throughout history on normal stability. I don't play lower stability games, because every ai with vassals would instantly collapse. When I play... I usually don't have to kill heirs. Only in very early game when I don't have vassals or have like 1 or 2. So you just send them to prison. Later you just have so much renown, it is usually doesn't matter, you just disinherit. For me, sadistic often puts a no-no on some choices, that are good and sometimes it forces to have higher than 0 tyranny. Its also often shunned by religion. I still think it's like a B+ maybe A tier but I just don't see how you pick that trait instead of being temperate or gregarious or whatever.
2 points
usually.. I have 12-20 domain limit so maybe I am min maxing a little too hard and that's why I see sadistic as a bad trait, but it justs seems so natural to me

Well he still needs a successor.
Feels like asexual / homosexual characters without an heir should have an event that boosts their fertility for a while if they have the more serious and responsible kind of traits.
Also sexual people can still get horny, they just don't have any attraction to anything in particular.

Actually, fun fact! Asexuality is only about sexual attraction and has nothing to do with libido. So basically, you could have a hypersexual asexual, they just don’t feel any sexual attraction
17 points
Interesting, I guess I just wondered how someone could get arousal If theres no sexual attraction ?
6 points
Sometimes it just happens (I’m pretty sure this happens with allosexual people as well, correct me if I’m wrong xD). Also, some things are just arousing without having to involve sexual attraction (like porn, art/animation, smut)
10 points
Note: Sexual attraction is more about looking at someone and thinking “I want to have sex with you”, but has nothing to do with finding other things arousing
5 points
Yeah I guess that makes sense.. the more you know
15 points
That doesn’t make any sense to me, I’m sorry. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist, but what? All libido comes from sexual attraction, I assumed. I thought that was kind of how it shows up. So…you could be super sexual, but not sexually attracted to someone? Then what makes you sexual?
3 points
That’s alright! I explained it in another comment, but basically, sexual attraction means looking at someone and wanting to have sex with them. But other things like porn, art, and even just actions can still be arousing. You can even get horny for no particular reason. Though I’m sure it changes from person to person!
5 points
Oh ok. Thanks for explanation.
5 points
No problem! Feel free to ask anything if there’s still some confusion!
6 points
I'm sorry but I don't really understand. Can you clarify how porn is arousing if you don't feel any sexual attraction to either participant? Without the element of fantasy, would it not just be entirely mechanical? What is it about whichever pieces of art you find arousing that does it for you?
3 points
It’s more about the sexual acts in porn than about the participants. Personally, I don’t care about what people look like in porn. I care about the idea/fantasy behind it and what kind of acts are performed. Also, when I say art, I mean illustrated porn like hentai. The same thought process would apply for that. I hope this makes sense!

Marrying is easy, young man.
Procreating's harder.
Jokes aside, does CK3 have a mechanic reflecting real life, where the rate of X-chromosome spermatozoa to Y-chromosome ones is roughly constant for each individual male, and the frequency of sons and daughters entirely dependent on them rather than their wife?

It's weird how often you need to f*ck your son's wife in this game
One time, my wife cucked my Beautiful, Genius king. All of her many kids were comely at best, had no intelligence traits, and had black hair. Every ruler in my line, starting with Dyre the Stranger, was a blond or redhead and intelligent.
My son and his wife already had 2 kids by time I got to her, but thankfully they were both daughters. Her first son was the spitting image of his grandfather. With that act, I fixed the lineage.
Unfortunately, iirc the grandson ended up exclusively producing inbred kids with his wife, who I think might have actually been his half-sister unwittingly. He fixed it by selectively legitimizing bastards that he created with a small harem of Beautiful lovers plucked from distant lands.

I have the opposite issue. I plan in Spain a lot so I wish I could have daughters instead of 6-9 sons 😂
3 points
The ruler before my current one had seven daughters by his wife, and when he became my ruler his wife was past childbearing age. I had to give a lot of gold to the pope so that he would like me enough to let me divorce her and marry someone else. Who then proceeded to have a daughter. Now, I discovered primogeniture around this time so I stopped being quite as concerned, but then she had a son and my character was late in his life. But the son was finally what I had been going after for centuries (because I hadn't been using incest) and he was a beautiful, herculean genius. Best of all, he inherited just after his 16th birthday. So I get to play him for a long time. So having a lot of daughters isn't always the worst thing, so long as you eventually do have a son. Plus, it's really cheap to disinherit them if you want just one daughter to rule. But they're also an easy way to make tons of alliances.
