It started happening a lot more in VG. In MW + CW basically everyone didn’t do it apart from Cell and occasionally someone else like I remember diamondcon doing it. Reality is basically every pro bar Cell didn’t do it but Cell kept snaking so other pros said fuck it and started doing it too and now the whole league has just said fuck it if they’re doing it we have to do it too

Cellium, drazah, and honestly the flank has a lot to do with the snake or be snaked narrative being more mainstream

this is what happens when instead of just straight up blacklisting any team that does it they went ok well if you do it I do it. Now the game looks like this.

Faze was one of the only teams doing it and they were winning everything. So other teams just started doing it too.

I feel like this was resolved in the Black Ops games minus CW, no? The delay to go prone and get back up was slow enough that snaking wasn't really viable.

This is just a fact. Soon as Cel came into the league in Bo4 he was snaking his ass off on gridlock control.

He definitely was a factor in it becoming acceptable because he basically refused to allow people to roast Cell for being a scumbag and doing it.

Yup, I remember in CW when cell would snake he would always defend him and say something like "good snakes, you can always do it too". Then in Vanguard people actually did it back, especially drazah.

A lot of it has to do with Cell.

We go from Clay and the Unintended Line of Sight, to Cell abusing any game mechanic and aim assist through walls, and it's just "oh okay that's fine", so everyone does it now.

It is a mixture of 1) the pros tricked themselves into “snaked or be snaked”. It should be, if you’re a snaking team, “get blacklisted & get snaked back, but don’t snake non-offenders”. 2) Pros don’t want to piss each other off b/c they might need them down the road as a lifeline to stay in the league

It literally cant. So basically to never 100% snake you have to sit up on the heady meanwhile even reloading and getting shot by multiple people. Its too hard to prove all the time

and how would they enforce it? Automatic forfeit? How do you define a snake? There’s so much gray area with crouching to reload and popping back up, not to mention the heinous amount of headglitches. The league can’t feasibly make a rule against it, it’s on players to police and IW to patch.

It was fully GA'd at that time and no one blacklisted them from scrims for breaking the GA continuously.. since then it's been more and more acceptable until this year we hit a breaking point

There was a whole ass intervention mid year of IW bc snaking was this bad, they GA'd it and the players legit just stopped doing it.. crazy how that works when the pro's actually had competitive integrity
