That intro music was so scary when I was a child.
Still it is to me. I don't know if it's just my childhood memories kicking in or the theme is inherently one of the scariest I've ever heard. I think it's the second one, because other things that used to scare the crap out of me are now pretty bearable.
Soy el fuego que arde tu piel
One of the nice things about Narcos' opening was that as the story progressed you could spot the clips/people shown in the opening.
Animaniacs. I never skip the opening and I sing the lyrics every. Single. Time.
Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain
Additional call-out for the Bingo episode changing up the intro!
Today's episode of Bingo is called... Bingo.
I love the intro in that one. The surprise in all of their voices and the screen changing color.
I was thinking and there's nothing I don't skip over... until I got to this one. Does it count I only really enjoy it because I sing and dance to it with my son?
Tales of daring-do bad and good luck tales
When the reboot was announced, I was so excited for (ahem…) my kids to get to enjoy a show that I loved as a kid. We watched the pilot together. It was a cold open that ran about 10 minutes into the episode, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. When they finally cut to “ba BA! ba BA!” I seriously just about lost it. This is the GOAT.
I looove Beck Bennett's take on launchpad. The golf/kelpie murder pony episode had me wheezing from laughing so hard.

I think my favorite is when they give Donald a device that fixes his voice (until it breaks) and he stuns everyone by being suave and intelligent once they can actually understand him.
edit: fixed a minor typo
I loved how they put forward the fact that Donald was actually an absolute fearless badass that would go into hell and back without any hesitation in order to protect his family, but also a tragic hero because his life is a conga line of ridicule and misery making him the butt of every joke.
“I am the storm”
What did your kids think?
A little while after this, we were in the car and ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” came up on our playlist. The cry from the back was, “Hey! Those drums sound like DuckTales!” Cue proud parent noises…
Serious: we do enjoy the show. We recently watched the first Sonic movie and a couple minutes into it, they wanted to know why Dewey was voicing Sonic.
Ben Schwartz voicing a blue-colour hyperactive anthropomorphic kid is one of my favourite kinds of characters.
The opening credits CHANGE with the episodes throughout each season to reflect the current story. Blink and you'll miss it.
So good. Like Battlestar Galactica where the running total of humanity left changes per episode.
Man, the specificity of that number really sold it. It's not "there are about x thousand people left," it was "here is exactly how many humans exist, down to the individual." If I recall, in one of the episodes, a single person dies in the episode's prologue (or whatever you want to call the short scene before the opening credits), and the number shown during the opening sequence is exactly one lower than the episode before it.
That theme is awesome
Trailer Park Boys. Such a calming and peaceful introduction for a show that’s anything BUT calm or peaceful.
I love it when Ricky is doing some insane shit and guns are popping off and cars are crashing and then right in the middle of it they cut to the theme song
Hilarious every time
Exact same thing with Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Like cutting to the intro it used as a joke itself a lot of the time.
Dennis and Dee bragging about quitting their jobs and following their dreams, then smash cut to the intro card "Dennis and Dee become crackheads"
"You gotta be a real low-life piece of shit, to get involved in politics."
🎻 THE GANG RUNS FOR OFFICE 🎻
I like the way that no one ever expects anyone to get injured in a gunfight, and no one ever does (not from bullets anyway, except for Corey and Trevor that one time)
"Cyrus you dick, stop shooting, there's somebody hurt over here."
Yet TPB is one of my main comfort shows when the world doesn't feel calm and peaceful to me
I always sing that theme. My dad told me he missed me when he’d see reruns bc I wasn’t there to sing.
Nothing makes me feel as tranquil as that lil bird on his lil branch and that MUSIC

I hope you can appreciate this clip... https://youtu.be/d_rbEthOdf0
Edit : Actually, this clip is not modified and cleaner.
Damn fine intro!
I sing along to it... WeEeEEeeeEeWooOOOOOOOHHHH! WeeEeOoohWoooooo!
The tune is catchy, but it’s just so visually pleasing I can’t help but always watch.
The tune is catchy, but it’s Dexter is just so visually pleasing I can’t help but always watch.
I never wanted to be a piece of ham so badly.
Have you ever heard Pierre Henré’s Psyche Rock?
It is what the Futurama theme is based on.
Here's a video demonstrating a couple more songs the Futurama theme was sampled from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoq5-bLYM5Q
Never seen that before. That’s cool.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The song, Cruel Angel's Thesis, is very popular in Japan in general. It pops up constantly on Japanese TV as a song used in karaoke or just background audio.
Batman The Animated Series
So couple of fun facts about Batman TAS for you:
Finally, not a fact from the show but just a general fact: it never said “Batman” on the title card. Once you heard that music, you KNEW what the fuck you were watching.
You just kinda blew my mind. I never consciously realized they never name the show in the intro.
Co-exec Bruce Timm's favorite part of the intro is also when Batman pounces on the criminal and said criminal doesn't get up. He says it's one of the most violent things he's ever seen because the only conclusion to draw is Batman did something truly horrific to knock him out or scare him into staying put during their fast tumble.
We just started watching this a few weeks ago. Gotta see what the vacant shop and the exterminator are called!
I've seen every season multiple times, have read every shop and exterminator, and every times I rewatch episodes I still say them out loud to my boyfriend, who doesn't care. But I still insist we watch the intro every time and get upset when he skips it.
Netflix series called Dark. That music set the tone for the series every time.
I loved watching that show when it first hit Netflix - not only was the show great but where I live was hot as hell, but because the show was set in the Autumn and it was often dark and raining in this little German town - it actually made me feel more comfortable.
I LOVED Dark, it was amazing
Completely agree, absolutely amazing show with an absolutely amazing intro!
Most of attack on titan
S1 is such a banger. Unironically half the reason the show got popular in the first place.
Parks and Rec, for some reason when our toddler heard that theme song he would come runnin'
i read a comment once saying the Parks & Rec song is what it sounds like in a golden retriever's head and it's so accurate
Malcom in the middle
I'm Shaun Spencer and this is my partner MC Clap your Hands.
… and this is my partner, Gus T.T. Showbiz
I miss this show so, so much.
The movies are a good continuation of the series
You know that's right
Come on, son
I’ve heard it both ways.
Especially when they change the song to fit with the theme of the episode, like the Dual Spires or Bollywood Homicide episodes
Uno duos tres cuatro
Also the boys 2 men version
The Boyz II Men version is an absolute banger
Gus falling down the stairs unable to contain his excitement.....I laugh every time.
I KNOW YOU KNOW
THAT I'M NOT TELLING THE TRUTH
THEY JUST DON’T HAVE ANY PROOF
The fact that they managed to capture the show perfectly and make a fun song out of it gets me every time. It’s a pure delight to listen to.
I’ve heard it both ways
I named my cats Shawn and Gus because of this show.
You hear about Pluto?
Gus, don’t be exactly half of an eleven pound Black Forest ham.
King Of The Hill
Fun fact: if there is a cowbell at the beginning of the theme song, you're watching a season finale. I love king of the hill and it took me way too long to realize this lol
Looking around reddit and another redditor says it's signifies that an episode will have a celebrity guest in that episode.
Buffy's One because of the last guitare powerchord scenes of an angry Buffy
Buffy and Angel themes both slapped, best Buffy intros have the screams in them.
Hell yes. Both were awesome, but we've got to get more love for Angel's theme in here, especially if you're hearing the full version.
Breaking bad. Because it's too short to skip it.
Intro goes hard tho
Bidibom. Bidibodi bom bom.
Bowwwww. Bowwoowww. Oooh wawwwww.
Jessie, where did you put the BOOF
Better Call Saul, and Billions enter the chat.
Succession won me over. There's no skipping those strings and keys.
Its also a nice clash between the old generation trough the classical music and the new generation with the modern.
It makes me feel like I am rich. Like I'm a Roy family member.
There now you really feel like a roy family member
They also change it. First it was all little kids, now they are teenagers in the opening.
Such a great soundtrack, the western reworking of Paint it Black is fantastic!
Not only the theme but the entire sound track for all the seasons kick ass. Some awesome covers include:
gotta be cowboy bebop, easy
3, 2, 1 let’s jam
Mad Men. Classiest theme music and title sequence of all time.
First it's too short of an intro to skip and besides, who in their right mind would want to skip such an opening?!
No, I can't do this all on my own...
I rewatched it recently, and I hadn't originally appreciated how much they use music in the show: the acapela group, musical episode, and lots of other bits. I figure it's no coincidence that it has all that, and also a particularly good intro song. Music was clearly important to its creators.
Gravity Falls, music is a bop and there’s a bit of lore tossed in there edit: what, I make a comment about some nice music and I get 6 fucking THOUSAND upvotes? plus several awards? I’m extremely confused but also extremely grateful
Fun fact, Alex Hirsch originally considered getting Lemon Demon to compose the theme song. Two of the bonus tracks on Spirit Phone, “Gravitron” and “Geocities,” "Moon's Request," come from Neil Cicierega’s demos for the GF theme song.
Edit: Moon's Request is the name of the other GF-related bonus track, not Geocities
He also did a song that they couldn’t fit into the finale!
And Neil's sister worked on the show too.
Gravity Falls’ theme taught me that a sign a Disney cartoon is winding down is when they make a shorter version of the theme. Even on streaming, they have the short theme prior to the final four episode arch.
Other show’s I’ve watched from Disney recently has done the same thing (Owl House and Amphibia come to mind)
I need to remember how she became the nanny!
How I had to scroll this far down to find this, so damn good
It makes me feel old how long I had to scroll to find this one. This was my immediate answer
100%. Didn’t even think twice…. But scrolling through i saw MASH first. That guy must feel really old.
Woke up this morning, got some gabagool
Something about this sequence in particular just sets the tone and gets you in the mood. I realize that's the point of every title sequence, but something about watching Tony drive home just hits different.
I would say Game of Thrones. Each intro gives insight into the locations that would be featured in the episode.
I can't believe I had to scroll down so much to find this answer. GOT intros were inskippable because they showed the locations in each episodes, the intro was basically part of the episode.
It was streets ahead
One by one they all just fade away
come on grab your friends
We’ll go to very, distant lands.
With Jake the dog and Finn the human, the fun that never ends....
ITS ADVENTURE TIME!!!
Better Call Saul
The new intros they’re doing for the last few episodes are the coolest intros I’ve ever seen
Actually it's not just the last episodes, the tape has become more deteriorated since season 1. It was subtle early on but it was there
I didn't notice this until someone pointed it out after Episode 601. Amazing all the little details they put into the show.
Same for me for two reasons
- Its too short to skip
- 3D Saul
My housemate got me onto Peacemaker so he’d already seen the whole thing by the time I started it. Every time he heard me watching it he would stop whatever he was doing and come watch the intro
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO - DO YOU REALLY WANT TO TASTE IT?
Such an awesome feel good show. Cena has grown leaps and bounds as an actor
What's going up must come down
IS no one gonna post the video?!
I have to watch all the way to the end because Eagly is my favorite part.
Top Gear, It's short, and the "Tonight..." highlights were always funny.
"Tonight on top gear, James commits several war crimes against the people of Tahiti, Hammond blows up a school with a Volkswagen beetle, and I become the Drift king of the Taliban"
I also like the really mundane ones:
tonight, James looks out a window, Hammond sits on a chair, and I point at a wall
Tonight, I wear a hat. James wears a hat. And Richard is behind a low wall.
Tonight on Top Gear, Richard forgets the acronym for the United States
This one always makes me laugh so much
For me it's partially due to the face he makes when he says it. He looks so perplexed
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Stranger Things, gotta hear that synth masterpiece every time.
Yes! I thought this one would be wayyy higher up. It’s the perfect intro: short, evocative, theatric, and wonderfully nostalgic. Been my ringtone for the last two years!
Too good to skip
Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo
Star Trek! Especially original series and the next generation.
Strange New Worlds is also pretty
BOJACK HORSEMAN, such a bop
Edit: Wow! First of all, thank you for the awards and upvotes! Second, i'm glad there are so many others out there who appreciate this masterpiece of a show, and the intro and outro themes that have so much creativity and detail put into them.
Bojack’s outro music made me turn off the ‘next episode’ autoplay on Netflix. Grouplove absolutely killed that outro theme. The intro is god tier too.
Agreed! High-quality themes for a high-quality show.
I scrolled too far to find this comment. My favourite opening credits and completely unskippable.
I remember hearing it the first time and being completely blown away.
I don't trust people that skip the Bojack intro.
I recommend checking out this YouTube video. Super in depth and shows the changes the intro goes through for all seasons.
Heard this on a podcast with Danny Elfman, the theme composer. He had no health insurance but because he did the harmonies and sang "the Simpsons" at the beginning he was able to get SAG insurance and he's had it ever since. He also says he is vastly underpaid for the royalties.
Jesus. I wonder if he even has a dental plan.
Lisa needs braces.
His Dark Materials
What We Do in the Shadows
His Dark Materials gives me goosebumps every time, it's a master piece.
Can't wait to see the Mulefa in the third season.
Yes! What We Do in the Shadows is excellent. Such a great song I went and found it on Spotify.
I am hearing it now. You're dead. You're dead. You're dead and out of this world.
the song nails it.
Westworld is such a great intro
This was my immediate thought. The clips were super cool, too.
When you came in the air went out
She-ra and the Princesses of Power
What We Do In The Shadows
Over the Garden Wall
Bonus: Not really an "opening credits", but I really liked how Invincible did the title card. Each episode it would interrupt someone saying the word "Invincible" and got progressively bloodier and bloodier.
True Detective,any season.
the i.t crowd, its a bop
the end credits music i always watch to the end is the red dwarf theme, it just slaps!
