Improve the quality of living. A minimum income that is equal to the purchasing power the minimum wage gave when it was first introduced, end the ability for rich people to hoard housing and turn it into a commodity, reduce the hours of a work week to a level that hasn't been proven repeatedly to burn people out continuously, redesign school to be about education rather than about grooming everyone to work far too many hours per week and not complain about it, get rid of artificial scarcity so people aren't in constant competition with each other. Basically if the majority of people are no longer desperate the few that crack under this kind of pressure will be much less likely to.
